The double insulating layer consisting of anodic oxide and ZnS was formed for HgCdTe metal insulator semiconductor(MIS) structure. ZnS was evaporated on the anodic oxide grown in H$_{2}$O$_{2}$ electrolyte. Recently, this insulating mechanism for HgCdTe MIS has been deeply studied for improving HgCdTe surface passivation. It was found through TEM observation that an interface layer is formed between ZnS and anodic oxide layers for the first time in the study of this area. EDS analysis of chemical compositions using by electron beam of 20.angs. in diameter and XPS depth composition profile indicated strongly that the new interface is composed of ZnO. Also TEM high resolution image showed that the structure of oxide layer has been changed from the amorphous state to the microsrystalline structure of 100.angs. in diameter after the evaporation of ZnS. The double insulating layer with the resistivity of 10$^{10}$ .ohm.cm was estimated to be proper insulating layer of HgCdTe MIS device. The optical reflectance of about 7% in the region of 5.mu.m showed anti-reflection effect of the insulating layer. The measured C-V curve showed the large shoft of flat band voltage due to the high density of fixed oxide charges about 1.2*10$^{12}$ /cm$^{2}$. The oxygen vacancies and possible cationic state of Zn in the anodic oxide layer are estimated to cause this high density of fixed oxide charges.
This study is focused to analyze the movement of thermal effluent dischargeed from nuclear power plant by season, ebb and flow, and before and after foundation of tide embankment using thermal infrared band image of 28 scenes observed from Landsat from 1987 to 2004, which is the early stage of operation of young-kwang nuclear power plant. In diffusion of thermal effluent discharge by seasons, spring and summer is spreading further than autumn and winter. It is considered to distribute widely mixed with thermal effluent discharge and hot water, which is distributed naturally along the seaside. It is known the fact that tidal currents control the direction of diffusion of thermal effluent discharge by the change of ebb and flow. Namely, it is distributed widely on the Southwest direction along the seaside by tidal currents when ebb and, it is moved widely on the Northeast direction along the seaside by tidal current when flood. However, in the early stage of flood current, the mainstream of thermal effluent discharge is spread on Southwest direction and, the direction is changed on Northeast way when the latter period of flood current. Similarly, in the early stage of ebb current, the mainstream of thermal effluent discharge is spread on Northeast direction and, the direction is changed on Southwest direction when the latter period of ebb current. As the result of comparing to the diffusion pattern of thermal effluent discharge before and after the foundation of seawall, discharged thermal effluent from the drain of plant by the foundation of dike is shown as curved circle pattern on Northeast to West direction from the ending portion of the seawall.
Public education is undoubtedly a very important aspect for a country to develop space program. People have the rights to understand how the tax they paid is being used. This paper addresses the effectiveness of FORMOSAT-2 on public education in Taiwan. As the first remote sensing satellite of the National Space Organization (NSPO) of Taiwan, FORMOSAT-2 is a small satellite of 746 kg mass for two remote sensing missions: Earth and upward lightning observations. The mission orbit is sun-synchronous of 888 km altitude for exactly 14 revolutions per day. For earth observation, the payload is an advanced high resolution remote sensing instrument (RSI) with ground sampling distance (GSD) 2 m in panchromatic (PAN) band and 8 m in four multi-spectral (MS) bands. For upward lightning observation, the payload is an imager of sprites and upper atmospheric lightning (ISUAL). After more than two years of Earth observation started in June 2004, the effectiveness of FORMOSAT-2 images on public education in Taiwan is very promised. Five domestic universities and one private company in Taiwan have signed contracts respectively with NSPO to take the roles of satellite image investigator and distributor. A private company has signed contract with NSPO to generate and provide URMAP (= your map) in its website for general public applications by using FORMOSAT-2 images. The Newtonkids Book Company used FORMOSAT-2 images to publish a kind of calendar for children education purpose. Besides, a science team in National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) is doing the research work on the 3820 (up to 30 June 2006) transient luminous events (TLEs) observed by FORMOSAT-2.
The first Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) onboard its Communication Ocean and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) is scheduled for launch in 2008. GOCI includes the eight visible-to-near-infrared (NIR) bands, 0.5km pixel resolution, and a coverage region of 2500 ${\times}$ 2500km centered at 36N and 130E. GOCI has had the scope of its objectives broadened to understand the role of the oceans and ocean productivity in the climate system, biogeochemical variables, geological and biological response to physical dynamics and to detect and monitor toxic algal blooms of notable extension through observations of ocean color. The special feature with GOCI is that like MODIS, MERIS and GLI, it will include the band triplets 660-680-745 for the measurements of sun-induced chlorophyll-a fluorescence signal from the ocean. The GOCI will provide SeaWiFS quality observations with frequencies of image acquisition 8 times during daytime and 2 times during nighttime. With all the above features, GOCI is considered to be a remote sensing tool with great potential to contribute to better understanding of coastal oceanic ecosystem dynamics and processes by addressing environmental features in a multidisciplinary way. To achieve the objectives of the GOCI mission, we develop the GOCI Data Processing System (GDPS) which integrates all necessary basic and advanced techniques to process the GOCI data and deliver the desired biological and geophysical products to its user community. Several useful ocean parameters estimated by in-water and other optical algorithms included in the GDPS will be used for monitoring the ocean environment of Korea and neighbouring countries and input into the models for climate change prediction.
Exposure dose to the examinee was measured using glass dosimeter in the test using panorama device at the time of dental treatment. As a result of measuring expose dose to lens according to the different sizes of Pb banding of own manufacturing to reduce exposure dose to lens especially sensitive to radiation, it was verified that exposure dose to lens varied depending on the size of the Pb banding. With the size of Pb banding of $3{\times}20{\times}0.2cm$, exposure dose tended to increase higher than normal value, and with the size of or more than $5{\times}20{\times}0.2cm$, it decreased. And also, the obtained image with the size of $7{\times}20{\times}0.2cm$ was not suitable for diagnosis. Therefore, it is expected that exposure dose would be reduced by using Pb banding of the size of not less than $5{\times}20{\times}0.2cm$ and not more than $6{\times}20{\times}0.2cm$ in the test, to minimize exposure dose and conduct panorama test efficiently.

We have developed a passive millimeter wave (PMMW) imaging system with two-dimensional imaging arrays. For the imaging system we achieved single-substrate imaging-array element which include all necessary component such as Fermi tapered slot antenna (TSA), a balun, LNA's and a detector circuit on it. Two-dimensional arrays for real-time imaging at the 35 GHz band are currently under development. We will be able to make an advanced PMMW image system based on our system with the $2\times2$ imaging array in the near future.
To develop the twin-fluid atomizer having the excellent performance of painting, the spray characteristics of how a wide area can be painted efficiently by one time spraying were studied in this paper. Spray phenomena are affected by the many factors determining the spray field such as the spraying pressure of gas, the spraying pressure and viscosity of liquid paints, the opening duration of needle valve, the design dimension of nozzle, and so on. As the results of experiments, these factors affecting on spray characteristics were suggested as followings; 1) The optimum spraying pressure of gas was $0.015{\sim}0.02\;kPa$, and the appropriate spraying pressure of liquid paint was 0.01kPa, In these situations, the setting up pressures must be compensated as much as the losing amount of pressure because a decompression occurred when operating valves. 2) The duration of opening the needle valve must be sustained for $1{\sim}2$ seconds to inject gas after spraying the liquid paint. This operating of the needle valve was necessary to avoid the affect on the changing of liquid column length, and to prevent the droplet deposit at the initial time of spraying. 3) The spray tip penetration was gained form the experimental equation, and the effective spraying angle was $85^{\circ}{\pm}5^{\circ}$ just at he appropriate spraying pressure of gas. The distribution of the area sprayed had the variation in $350{\pm}50\;mm$ because of the spraying pressure of gas, the its distance from the spray tip, and the lift of the needle valve.
Closely arranged CdSe and Zn doped CdSe vertical nanorod bundles were grown directly on FTO coated glass by using electrodeposition method. Structural analysis by XRD showed the hexagonal phase without any precipitates related to Zn. FE-SEM image showed end capped vertically aligned nanorods arranged closely. From the UV-vis transmittance spectra, band gap energy was found to vary between 1.94 and 1.98 eV due to the incorporation of Zn. Solar cell parameters were obtained by assembling photoelectrochemical cells using CdSe and CdSe:Zn photoanodes, Pt cathode and polysulfide (1M $Na_2S$ + 1M S + 1M NaOH) electrolyte. The efficiency was found to increase from 0.16 to 0.22 upon Zn doping. Electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) indicate that the charge-transfer resistance on the FTO/CdSe/polysulfide interface was greater than on FTO/CdSe:Zn/polysulfide. Cyclic voltammetry results also indicate that the FTO/CdSe:Zn/polysulfide showed higher activity towards polysulfide redox reaction than that of FTO/CdSe/polysulfide.

Background: For positron emission tomography (PET) application, cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) has been investigated by several institutes to replace detectors from a conventional system using photomultipliers or Silicon-photomultipliers (SiPMs). The spatial and energy resolution in using CZT can be superior to current scintillator-based state-of-the-art PET detectors. CZT has been under development for several years at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) to provide a high performance gamma ray detection, which needs a single crystallinity, a good uniformity, a high stopping power, and a wide band gap. Materials and Methods: Before applying our own grown CZT detectors in the prototype PET system, we investigated preliminary research with a developed discrete type data acquisition (DAQ) system for coincident events at 128 anode pixels and two common cathodes of two CZT detectors from Redlen. Each detector has a $19.4{\times}19.4{\times}6mm^3$ volume size with a 2.2 mm anode pixel pitch. Discrete amplifiers consist of a preamplifier with a gain of $8mV{\cdot}fC^{-1}$ and noise of 55 equivalent noise charge (ENC), a $CR-RC^4$ shaping amplifier with a $5{\mu}s$ peak time, and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) driver. The DAQ system has 65 mega-sample per second flash ADC, a self and external trigger, and a USB 3.0 interface. Results and Discussion: Characteristics such as the current-to-voltage curve, energy resolution, and electron mobility life-time products for CZT detectors are investigated. In addition, preliminary results of gamma ray imaging using 511 keV of a $^{22}Na$ gamma ray source were obtained. Conclusion: In this study, the DAQ system with a CZT radiation sensor was successfully developed and a PET image was acquired by two sets of the developed DAQ system.

Optical variability is one way to probe the nature of the central engine of AGN at smaller linear scales and previous studies have shown that optical variability is more prevalent at longer timescales and at shorter wavelengths. Especially, intra-night variability can be explained through the damped random walk model but small samples and inhomogeneous data have made constraining this model hard. To understand the properties and physical mechanism of optical variability, we are performing the KMTNet Active Nuclei Variability Survey (KANVaS). Test data of KMTNet in the COSMOS field was obtained over 2 separate nights during 2015, in B, V, R, and I bands. Each night was composed of 5 and 9 epochs with ~30 min cadence. To find AGN in the COSMOS field, we applied multi-wavelength selection methods. Different selection methods means we are looking different region in unification model of AGN, and 100~120, 400~500, 50~100 number of AGN are detected in X-ray, mid-infrared, and radio selection of AGN, respectively. We performed image convolution to reflect seeing fluctuation, then differential photometry between the selected AGN and nearby stars to achieve photometric uncertainty ~0.01mag. We employed one of the standard time-series analysis tools to identify variable AGN, chi-square test. Preliminarily results indicate that intra-night variability is found for X-ray selected, Type1 AGN are 23.6%, 26.4%, 21.3% and 20.7% in the B, V, R, and I band, respectively. The majority of the identified variable AGN are classified as Type 1 AGN, with only a handful of Type 2 AGN showing evidence for variability. The work done so far confirms that there are type and wavelength dependence of intra-night optical variability of AGN.
