  • Shape memory alloys (SMAs) have the ability to recover their original shape upon thermo-mechanical loading even after large inelastic deformation. The unique feature is known as pseudoelasticity and shape memory effect caused by the crystalline structural transformation between two solid-state phases called austenite and martensite. To support the engineering application, a number of constitutive models, which can be formally classified into either micromechanics-based or phenomenological model, have been developed. Most of the constitutive models include a kinetic law governing the crystallographic transformation. The present work presents a one-dimensional, phenomenological constitutive model for SMAs in the context of the unified viscoplasticity theory. The proposed model does not incorporate the complex mechanisms of phase transformation. Instead, the effects induced by the transformation are depicted through the growth law for the back stress that is an internal state variable of the model.

  • Although most authors regard contralateral pedicular fracture with unilateral spondylolysis as an unstable condition and recommend surgical management when immobilization fails in promoting bony healing of the fracture, few researchers have investigated the natural history of pedicle fracture or the causal relationship between symptoms and the fracture. In addition, there are no detailed guidelines that address the management of this disease. We report a rare case of contralateral pedicular fracture associated with unilateral spondylolysis at the L5 level which was successfully treated by rehabilitation with activity modification.

  • In this study, a crack closure behavior of Al-alloy 5052-H38 was investigated. The fatigue test was performed by the four-point bending test under the contast amplitude load. Stress ratio R was changed from-1.0 to 0.5. To mcasure the fatigue crack opening point, the graph of load vs. subtracted displacement by computer program was obtained from the X - Y plotter. In order to gain the displacement data, a strain gage was attached at the back surface against the notched side. Uslng the conception of crack closure and influence of on crack growth rate a model for crack growth rate is developed for Al-alloy 5052-H38.

  • The active-clamped double forward-flyback converter is studied in this paper. The converter reduces the voltage stress of the switches and decreases switching loss, EMI. The energy stored in the magnetic core is transferred to both the input voltage source and the flyback output. This makes it possible the output circuit of the flyback to operate at CCM without complex control circuit. The MOSFET is used at output stage, which decreases switching loss.

  • Anisotropic work hardening of cold rolled low carbon steel sheets is studied. The experiments consist of two stage tensile prestraining and tensile tests. At the first prestraining, steel sheets are streteched along the rolling direction by 3% and 6% tensile strains. The second prestrains are at 0${\cric}$, 30${\cric}$, 60${\cric}$to the rolling directions by varying degrees. Tensile tests are performed on the specimens cut from the sheets after the two stage prestraining. A theoretical framework on anisotropic hardening is proposed which includes Hill's quadratic yield function, ziegler's kinematic hardening rule, and Kim and Yin's assumption on the rotation of orthotropy axes. The predicted variations of R-values with second stage tensile strain are compared with the experimental data.

  • The evolution of dynamic recrystallization (DRX) was studied with torsion test for AISI 304 stainless steel in the temperature range of $900-1000^{\circ}C$ and strain rate range of 0.05-5/sec. The evolution of DRX was investigated with microstructural analysis and change of flow stress curve slope. The investigation of serrated grain boundaries using electron back scattered diffraction (EBSD) analysis indicated that the nucleated new DRX grain size was similar to the size of bulging part. Before the steady state, the dynamically recrystallizing grains do not remain a constant size and gradually grow to the size of fully DRX grain at steady state. The calculation of grain size was based on $X_{DRX}$ and the assumption, which the nucleated DRX grains are growing to the steady state, continuously. It was found that the calculated results agreed with the microstructure of the alloy.

  • The emerging applications such as reliable back-up power system and renewable energy call for high boost U-n converter. The conventional topologies to get high output voltage are using flyback circuit, cascade converters, and coupled inductor DC-DC converter. They have the stress and loss related to the leakage energy which results in low efficiency Tn this paper, novel high boost converter is presented. It has a structure of cascade boost converter but only one switch. Therefore, drive circuit is simple and extreme duty ratio is eliminated. To verify the proposed circuit, theoretical analysis and experimental results has been done using a prototype power supply.

  • Many workers like welders are working in squat sitting postures with te object on the ground for an entire work shift. It is suspected that such prolonged squat sitting without any supporting stool would gradually cause musculoskeletal injuries to workers. This study is to quantitatively evaluate the physical stress caused by the prolonged squat sitting and to recommend a safe work/rest schedule for the task with squat sitting posture based on the lab experiment. In this study, 8 healthy student subjects participated in the experiment. They maintained a squat sitting posture for 16 minutes with 4 different stool height conditions: no stool, 10cm hight, 15cm height, 20cm height. Every 2 minutes, the discomfort was subjectively assessed using the magnitude estimation method for the whole body, lower back, upper leg and lower leg. Based on discomfort rating, we found that 10cm height stool relieved the workload most. Discomfort rating results also indicated that 20cm height stool showed the heghest workload, and that there was no difference in workload between 15cm height and no stool. We recommend to provide the workers with 10cm height stool for prolonged squat sitting tasks.

Methods : We analyzed 130 patients who visited an Korean Medicine Hospital for their dyspepsia-related symptoms, from March 1, 2014 until to February 28, 2015 Results : The sex composition was consisted of 31.5% man and 68.5% woman, and 85.6% of outpatient and 14.4% of inpatient. The 39.2% of patients showed chronic complain (>6 months), and the main causes included stress and fatigue for 46.2% and 31.5% respectively. The accompanied symptoms were mainly fatigue (40.0%), insomnia (36.9%), abnormal stool (34.6%), upper back pain (31.5%), and headache (28.5%). The improvement rate was 68.5% while other (31.5%) showed no change of dysplasia. Conclusion : This study created an important information of patients with dysplasia, which will be critically helpful for development of Korean Medicine-based therapeutics in the future.
