Korea physiographic province is divided into two provinces which is northern Chugaryung graben zone and southern Chugraryung graben zone. Northern Chugraryung is also divided in to Gema block and Kohan block, and southern Chugraryung dividedinto Han block, Yongnam basin and Honam plain. The above mentioned macro geomorophic units is divided, mainly on the geotectonics. The meso geomorphic units is divided, based upon the regional distribution of topographic characteristic that is plateaus, mountains, mountain range, basins and great plain etc. Micro geomorphic units id into a mountain, a hill, a plain, and a lowland, and then it is formed by selfreliant topographic unit. And micro topographic (fan, peneplain, delta, etc) dealt with a characteristics unit. In this article has a disregarded amallest scale that is included flood plait natural levee, back marsh and oxbow lake etc. Accordingly, it shows macro units are meso units are 5, meso units are 53, micro units are 299. A study method of physiographic provincs prefered to aufsteigende and abstergands methoy. How to organically combine topographic factors can be seen in regional distribution of the peculiar topographic characteristics, for charage teristic of topographic makes a study on the topographic of micro unit such understanding as aufsteigende method. At the same time, since it can be studied systematically from marco unit to micro unit like the absteigende methods, I used both methods. And this establishment of physiographic province based on the scientific method depend on the base map of climate classification. Geology, Soil, Biology. I feel confident that it will be used the basic map for land use map, land classification map, study of geomorphology of Korea. And will be used for study of a topographic standard data.

The head-capacity curves for pumps developed by the pump manufacturer are based on tests of a sin91e pump operating in a semi-infinite pool with no nearby walls or floors and no stray currents. Hence, flow into the pump suction is symmetrical with no vortices or swirling. Pump station designers rely on these curves to define the operating conditions for the pump selected. But various constraints such as size, cost, and limitations on storage time require walls, floors, and pump intakes to be close proximity to each other. From this background, the authors are carrying out a systematic study on the flow characteristics of intakes within a sump found within a sump of pump stations. Model pump intake basin is designed and PIV is adopted as a measuring tool to capture the instantaneous flow patterns. Special attention is paid to investigate the flow patterns near the free surface due to different clearances from back-wall to vertical intake pipe with bell mouse and without. Moreover, the locations and vorticities of the various types of vortices that were found in the examinations are discussed.
The purpose of this study is to develop a real-time forecasting model in order to predict the flood runoff which has the nature of non-linearity and to verify applicability of neural network model for flood warning system. Developed model based on neural network, NRDFM(Neural River Discharge-Stage Forecasting Model) is applied to predict the flood discharge on Waekwann and Jindong stations in Nakdong river basin. As a result of flood forecasting on these two stations, it can be concluded that NRDFM-II is the best predictive model for real-time operation. In addition, the results of forecasting used on NRDFM-I and NRDFM-II model are not bad and these models showed sufficient probability for real-time flood forecasting. Consequently, it is expected that NRDFM in this study can be utilized as suitable model for real-time flood warning system and this model can perform flood control and management efficiently.
In this study, we investigated the spatial range, distribution pattern, temporal appearance, sex ratio, seasonal pattern, and size of the population of Leptalina unicolor locally inhabiting the wetland protection area in the Jaeyaksan Mountain. We found that the butterfly was distributed across four areas at 750 m above sea level and in an area of 96,000 ㎡. in the southeastern slope of the mountain. The discontinuous distribution of the butterflies in the meadow. According to our survey conducted from 2012 to 2014, L. unicolor occurred in May (spring) and July (summer) each year, with the male population more than three times higher than that of the female population. The population size estimated using the mark and recapture method on the back of the hind wing in the two years was as follows: 877±502 and 1243±800 individuals in the spring and summer of 2012, respectively, and 783±429 and 506±365 individuals in the spring and summer of 2014, respectively, suggesting no specific seasonal pattern. The findings of this study are expected to be useful for the conservation of the populations and habitats of L. unicolor, which are currently distributed locally due to a decrease in population size.
A GDS (Geomagnetic Depth Sounding) method, one of extremely low-frequency EM methods, has been carried out to examine conductivity anomalies in and around the Korean Peninsula. In this study, new GDS data acquired at the five sites in south-eastern area of the peninsula were incorporated into the previous GDS data. In order to quantitatively interpret observed induction arrows, the 3-D MT modeling considering the surrounding seas of the Korean Peninsula has been performed to evaluate sea effect at each GDS site. The modeling results revealed that the observed real induction arrows were not explained by solely sea effects, consequently two conductive structures that are responsible for the discrepancies between observed and calculated induction arrows were proposed. The first one is the Imjingang Belt, which is thought as an extension of Quiling-Dabie-sulu continental collision belt. The effects of the Imjingang Belt clearly appear at the site YIN and ICHN. The second one is the HCL (Highly Conductive Layer), which is considered as a conductive anomaly by mantle upwelling produced in back-basin region. The effects of the HCL are seen at the site KZU, KMT101, and KMT 107 in the south-eastern region of the Korean Peninsula.
The geophysical implications of the observed heat flow in the Korean Peninsula are examined. The Peninsula can be devided into two typical regions of high (Zone 1) and normal heat flows (Zone 2), and anomalous sharp change of heat flow between two zones is noteworthy. Zone 1 (southeastern coast of the Peninsula) to be connected to the East Sea (=Japan Sea) of high heat flow region corresponds with the region of late-Mesozoic to Tertiary igneous activity. With the radioactive elements concentrated in the crust, the observed heat flow in Zone 2 can be almostly explained. While, only a half of the heat flow in Zone 1 is explained. As a possible explanation of high heat flow in Zone 1, partial melting in the lower crust is examined. The temperature of $800-900^{\circ}C$ calculated at the bottom of the crust excludes the possibility of partial melting or magma generation in the crust. Alternatively, a remaining thermal effect of late-Mesozoic to Tertiary igneous activity is considered. However, it appears that the thermal effect already disappeared and that the vertical temperature distribution reached at steady state 30 MY ago (= 10 MY after the igneous activities came to an end). After all, the existence of some other effective heat transfer in Zone 1 is strongly suggested. The high heat flow to be same kind of anomalous one of the East Sea can be recognized as a result of the trench-back-arc thermal flux. The plate subduction in the Japan Trench will generate an induced flow above the slab of the East Sea, a typical back-arc basin, and hence the induced flow will heat the surrounding lithosphere.

Lau basin of the south Pacific, as an active back arc basin, is promising area bearing seafloor massive hydrothermal deposit that is located in a subduction zone between the Pacific ocean plate and Indo-Australian continental plate. We performed multi-beam bathymetry survey in the Lau basin using EM120, to find out high hydrothermal activity Bone. Fonualei Rift and Spreading Center (FRSC) and Mangatolou Triple Junction (MTJ) area were selected for precise site survey through seafloor morphology investigation. The result of surface and deep-tow magnetometer survey showed that Central Anomaly Magnetization High (CAMH) recorded which is associated with active ridge in FRSC-2 and revealed very low magnetic anomalies that can be connected to past or present high hydrothermal activity in MTJ-1 seamount area. Moreover, the physical and chemical tracers of hydrothermal vent flume, i.e., transmission, hydrogen ion concentration (pH), adenosine triphosphate (ATP), methane (CH4) by use of CTD system, showed significant anomalies in those areas. From positive vent flume results, we could conclude that these areas were or are experiencing very active volcanic activities. The acquired chimney and hydrothermal altered bed rock samples gave us confidence of the existence of massive hydrothermal deposit. Even though not to use visual exploration equipment such as ROV, DTSSS, etc., traditional marine geophysical investigation approach might be a truly cost-effective tool for exploring seafloor hydrothermal massive deposit.
A back projection algorithm is applied to 216 Pn travel time measurements to image lateral variations of compressional velocity in the uppermost mantle in the Korean Peninsula. We obtained an average P-velocity value for the uppermost mantle of $7.90{\pm}0.18km/sec$, and an average mantle P-velocity gradient of $5.3{\times}10^{-3}s^{-1}$ for the Korean Peninsula. The final 3-D velocity image in the uppermost mantle is characterized by a low-velocity (about $7.77{\pm}0.12km/sec$) region in the southeast area of the Korean peninsula, which is called 'Kyongsang Basin' and by high-velocity(${\geq}8.08km/sec$) region in the northern area of the Korean Peninsula(Hamkyong and Pyongan provinces). The crustal thicknesses are calculated for the 10 subregions. The crustal thickness of the northern part(${\geq}39^{\circ}N$) of the Korean Peninsula is 33.0-36.0 km, on the contrary, that of the southern part(< $39^{\circ}N$) is 30.7~33.7 km. The velocity image obtained in this study is somewhat consistent with previous S-P travel time studies and gravity studies.

A term of GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) is widely used to represent a navigation method for global area using satellite in space orbit 1his system can provide accurate and continuous position, and timing sources synchronized to UTC. There are, however, certain disadvantage that system can not operate without line of sight environment to satellite, or system failure of either satellite or control station. It is the pseduolite technology for using indoor and also for back-up equipment of foreign system failure. Especially, ocean applications widely use the GNSS system for navigation, surveying, timing, and management of traffic, so, system failure of GNSS will be very critical problem to affect many aspects of ocean field. In this paper, we experimented the pseudolite technology for several application field to compare the result in different environment. We used the common CDGPS algorithm for in-door navigation and experimented in ocean engineering basin with metallic wall and gymnasiums with concrete wall. We also investigated the comparison result and considerations for ocean applications of pseudolite technology.
In this study, Neural Networks models were used to forecast daily streamflow at Jindong station of the Nakdong River basin. Neural Networks models consist of CASE 1(5-5-1) and CASE 2(5-5-5-1). The criteria which separates two models is the number of hidden layers. Each model has Fletcher-Reeves Conjugate Gradient BackPropagation(FR-CGBP) and Scaled Conjugate Gradient BackPropagation(SCGBP) algorithms, which are better than original BackPropagation(BP) in convergence of global error and training tolerance. The data which are available for model training and validation were composed of wet, average, dry, wet+average, wet+dry, average+dry and wet+average+dry year respectively. During model training, the optimal connection weights and biases were determined using each data set and the daily streamflow was calculated at the same time. Except for wet+dry year, the results of training were good conditions by statistical analysis of forecast errors. And, model validation was carried out using the connection weights and biases which were calculated from model training. The results of validation were satisfactory like those of training. Daily streamflow forecasting using Neural Networks models were compared with those forecasted by Multiple Regression Analysis Mode(MRAM). Neural Networks models were displayed slightly better results than MRAM in this study. Thus, Neural Networks models have much advantage to provide a more sysmatic approach, reduce model parameters, and shorten the time spent in the model development.
