Suppose that a line passing through a given point P intersects a given circle 𝓒 at Q and R in the Euclidean plane. It is well known that |PQ||P R| is independent of the choice of the line as long as the line meets the circle at two points. It is also known that similar properties hold in the 2-sphere and in the hyperbolic plane. New proofs for the similar properties in the 2-sphere and in the hyperbolic plane are given.
We discuss the notions of positive expansivity, chain transitivity, uniform rigidity, chain mixing, weak specification, and pseudo orbital specification in terms of finite open covers for Hausdorff topological spaces and entourages for uniform spaces. We show that the two definitions for each notion are equivalent in compact Hausdorff spaces and further they are equivalent to their standard definitions in compact metric spaces. We show that a homeomorphism on a Hausdorff uniform space has uniform h-shadowing if and only if it has uniform shadowing and its inverse is uniformly equicontinuous. We also show that a Hausdorff positively expansive system with a Hausdorff shadowing property has Hausdorff h-shadowing.
This paper is concerned with the study of various notions of shadowing of dynamical systems induced by a sequence of maps, so-called time varying maps, on a metric space. We define and study the shadowing, h-shadowing, limit shadowing, s-limit shadowing and exponential limit shadowing properties of these dynamical systems. We show that h-shadowing, limit shadowing and s-limit shadowing properties are conjugacy invariant. Also, we investigate the relationships between these notions of shadowing for time varying maps and examine the role that expansivity plays in shadowing properties of such dynamical systems. Specially, we prove some results linking s-limit shadowing property to limit shadowing property, and h-shadowing property to s-limit shadowing and limit shadowing properties. Moreover, under the assumption of expansivity, we show that the shadowing property implies the h-shadowing, s-limit shadowing and limit shadowing properties. Finally, it is proved that the uniformly contracting and uniformly expanding time varying maps exhibit the shadowing, limit shadowing, s-limit shadowing and exponential limit shadowing properties.

In this paper, we propose semi-ML adaptive parallel QRDM (APQRDM) and iterative QRDM (AIQRDM) algorithms based on set grouping. Using the set grouping, the tree-search stage of QRDM algorithm is divided into partial detection phases (PDP). Therefore, when the treesearch stage of QRDM is divided into 4 PDPs, the APQRDM latency is one fourth of that of the QRDM, and the hardware requirements of AIQRDM is approximately one fourth of that of QRDM. Moreover, simulation results show that in $4{\times}4$ system and at Eb/N0 of 12 dB, APQRDM decreases the average computational complexity to approximately 43% of that of the conventional QRDM. Also, at Eb/N0 of 0dB, AIQRDM reduces the computational complexity to about 54% and the average number of metric comparisons to approximately 10% of those required by the conventional QRDM and AQRDM.
This paper presents a risk assessment methodology for standard flight procedures using recorded automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) data. Utilizing the proposed methodology, the results of risk analyses in RKSI (incheon international airport) and RKSS (gimpo international airport) using trajectories that are regenerated based on 100 days of ADS-B data are presented. For the risk metric, detect and avoid well clear (DWC) is used. With this index, each procedure was evaluated for the sections with highest level of risk. Among the standard instrument departure (SID) of RKSI, the section between SI712 and RANOS of RNAV BOPTA 1L showed the highest level of risk. For the standard terminal arrival route (STAR) of RKSI, section between SI947 and DANAN of RNAV GUKDO 1N wasthe one with the highest level of risk. For RKSS, the segment between SS726 and SS727 of RNAV BULTI 1X and the segment between KAKSO and KALMA of RNAV OLMEN 1D showed the highest level of risk among the SIDs and STARs, respectivly.
This study was conducted at 5 sites of Bocheong Stream basin in May and September 2009 for the evaluate of fish assemblage and chemical water quality. For the study, the models of Index of Biological Integrity (IBI) and Qualitative Habitat Evaluation Index (QHEI) were modified as 8 and 11 metric attributes, respectively. We also analyzed patterns of chemical water quality at the sampling site over the period of 2005~2009, using the water chemistry dataset, obtained from the Ministry of Environment, Korea. The survey showed that total sampled fishes were 34 species and the most dominant species was Zacco platypus (24.3%). In Bocheong Stream basin, values of IBI averaged 28 (n=5), which is judged as a "Good". IBI score at B1, B4 and B5 indicating a "Good" condition whereas, B2 and B3 were as 21 and 22, indicating "Fair" condition, respectively. QHEI was 152 (n=5), judged as "Fair" habitat condition. Values of BOD and COD averaged 1.0 $mgL^{-1}$ (scope: 0.3~4.0 $mgL^{-1}$) and 2.3 $mgL^{-1}$ (scope: 0.3~18.7 $mgL^{-1}$), respectively. Total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP) and suspended solid (SS) were distinct spatial variation. Based on the IBI, QHEI and chemical water quality dataset, ecological health of Bocheong Stream basin was evaluated that generally good.
The seed of cowpea (Vigna sinensis K.) was extracted with 80% aqueous methanol (MeOH). And the concentrated extract was partitioned with ethyl acetate (EtOAc), n-butanol (n-BuOH) and $H_2O$, successively. The repeated silica gel and octadecyl silica gel (ODS) column chromatographic separations for the EtOAc and n-BuOH fractions led to isolation of four sterols. And the chemical structures of the compounds were determined as a mixture of stigmasterol and $\beta$-sitosterol with the ratio of 4 to 3 (1), 7-ketositosterol (2), and stigmasterol 3-O-$\beta$D-glucopyranoside (3) from the interpretation of spectroscopic data including nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrum metric, mass (MS) spectrum metric and infrared (IR) spectroscope. This study reports the first isolation of $\beta$-sitosterol, 7-ketositosterol, and stigmasterol 3-O-$\beta$-D-glucopyranoside from the seed of Vigna sinensis K. In addition, compound 2, 7-ketositosterol, is rarely occurred in natural source including plant.
Block based transform coding is most popular approach for image and video compression. However it suffers from severe quality degradation especially from blocking artifacts. The subjective quality degradation caused by such blocking artifacts in general does not agree well with an objecive quality measurement such as PSNR. Hence new quality evaluation technique is necessary. We propose a new image quality assessment method by measuring blocking artifacts for block based transform coded images. In order to characterize blocking artifacts, proposed method utilizes the facts that, blocking artifacts, when occur, have different pixel values along the block boundaries and such differences usually continuously span along the whole boundaries. This method does not require the original uncompressed image. It operates on single block boundary and quantifies the amount of blocking artifacts on it. Experiments on various compressed images various bitrates show that proposed quantitative measure of blocking artifacts matches well with the subjective quality of them judged by human visual system.
Major objectives of the study were to analyze chemical and biological influences of the river ecosystem on the artificial weir construction at three regions of Sejong-Weir (Sj-W), Gongju-Weir (Gj-W), and Baekje-Weir (Bj-W) during 2008-2012. After the weir construction, the discharge volume increased up to 2.9 times, and biological oxygen demand (BOD) and electrical conductivity (EC) significantly decreased (p < 0.05). Also, the decrease of total phosphorus (TP) was also evident after the weir construction, but still hyper-eutrophic conditions, based on criteria by , were maintained. Multi-metric model of Index of Biological Integrity (IBI) showed that IBI values averaged 21.0 (range: 20-22; fair condition) in the Bwc, and 14.3 (range: 12-18; poor condition) in the Awc. The model values of IBI in Sj-W and Gj-W were significantly decreased after the weir construction. The model of Self-Organizing Map (SOM) showed that two groups (cluster I and cluster II) of Bwc and Awc were divided in the analysis based on the clustering map trained by the SOM. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was similar to the results of the SOM analysis. Taken together, this research suggests that the weir construction on the river modified the discharge volume and the physical habitat structures along with distinct changes of some chemical water quality. These physical and chemical factors influenced the ecosystem health, measured as a model value of IBI.
A factorization-based 3D reconstruction system is realized to recover 3D scene from an image sequence. The image sequence is captured from uncalibrated perspective camera from several views. Many matched feature points over all images are obtained by feature tracking method. Then, these data are supplied to the 3D reconstruction module to obtain the projective reconstruction. Projective reconstruction is converted to Euclidean reconstruction by enforcing several metric constraints. After many triangular meshes are obtained, realistic reconstruction of 3D models are finished by texture mapping. The developed system is implemented in C++, and Qt library is used to implement the system user interface. OpenGL graphics library is used to realize the texture mapping routine and the model visualization program. Experimental results using synthetic and real image data are included to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed system.
