This paper presents a new velocity estimation strategy for a non-salient permanent magnet synchronous motor drive without high frequency signal injection or special PWM pattern. This approach is based on the d-axis current regulator output voltage of the drive system, which contains the rotor position error information. The rotor velocity can be estimated through a rotor position tracking PI controller that controls the position error at zero. For zero and low speed operation, the PI gain of the rotor position tracking controller has a variable structure according to the estimated rotor velocity. Then, at zero speed, the rotor position and velocity have sluggish dynamics because the varying gains are very low in this region. In order to boost the bandwidth of the PI controller during zero speed, the loop recovery technique is applied to the control system. The PI tuning formulas are also derived by analyzing this control system by frequency domain specifications such as phase margin and bandwidth assignment.
This paper describes the servo position control for the 2-axis positioning table the servo controller consists of conventional feedback loops, disturbance observer. To reduce the contour error, which occurs in the multi-dimensions machines, cross-coupled controller(CCC) is suggested. A weak point of the CCC is their low effectiveness in dealing with arbitrary nonlinear contour such as circles and parabolas. This paper introduces a new nonlinear CCC that is based on control gains that vary during the contour movement The gains of CCC and adjusted in real time according to the shape of nonlinear contour. The feedback controller based on the disturbance observer compensated for external disturbance, plant uncertainty and bad effectiveness by friction model. Suggested servo controller which improve the contouring accuracy, apply to the 2-axis system. Simulation results on 2-axis table verify the effectiveness of the proposed servo controller.
In this paper, we deal with a precise position synchronous control of four-axes system which is working under various load disturbances. Each axis driving system is consisted of a speed controller and an acceleration controller as an inner loop instead of conventional current control scheme. The acceleration control plays an important roll to suppress load disturbances quickly. Also, each axis is coupled by a maximum position synchronous error comparison to minimize position synchronous errors according to integration of speed differency. As a result, the proposed system enables precise synchronous control with good robustness against load disturbances during transient as well as steady state. The stability and robustness of the proposed system are investigated through its frequency characteristic and numerical simulations. Finally, experimental results under load disturbances demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control system fur four-axes position synchronous control.
This paper presents a geometrical error compensation of tool alignment for sharp edge bite on B axis controlled machine. In precision micro patterning, bite alignment is crucial parameter for machined surface. To decrease bite alignment error, plus tilted bite from B axis center is touched to reference work piece(pin gauge) and checked the deviation from original position. Same process is repeated for maximum touch deviation value. From this touched position value, wheel alignment error in X axis and Z axis can be calculated on B axis center. Experimental results show that this compensation method is efficient to correct sharp edge bite alignment.

Open-loop position estimation methods are commonly used in mobile robot applications. Their strength lies in the speed and simplicity with which an estimated position is determined. However, these methods can lead to inaccurate or unreliable estimates. Two position estimation methods are developed in this paper, one using a single optical flow sensor and a second using two optical sensors. The first method can accurately estimate position under ideal conditions and also when wheel slip perpendicular to the axis of the wheel occurs. The second method can accurately estimate position even when wheel slip parallel to the axis of the wheel occurs. Location of the sensors is investigated in order to minimize errors caused by inaccurate sensor readings. Finally, a method is implemented and tested using a potential field based navigation scheme. Estimates of position were found to be as accurate as dead-reckoning in ideal conditions and much more accurate in cases where wheel slip occurs.
The objective of this study is to identify the effects of material position and physical fatigue on postural stability. Ten male subjects participated in this study. After bicycling exercises, their centers of pressure (COPs) were measured under four material handling positions and four excercise levels. The measured COPs were then utilized to calculate postural sway length in each experimental condition. Subjects' postural stability was quantified using the sway length. Results showed that the effect of different material handling position was significant on the postural sway length in both the posterior-anterior axis and the medio-lateral axis. Results also showed that the postural sway length was increased as physical fatigue accumulated, significantly in subject's posterior-anterior axis. The results imply that bearing a material on the back or front with both hands appeared to cause least sway length and instability.
In this paper, a robot automation technology for chemical tank lorry unloading is presented. Handling chemical coupler between tank lorry and ACQC system may be hazardous or toxic to human operators, therefore robot automation is essential. Due to tight tolerance between couplers, even small pose error may result in very large internal force. In order to resolve the problem, compliance between male and female couplers should be introduced with 6-axis compliance device with F/T sensing. The proposed robot automation system consists of a collaborative robot, 6-ax is compliance device with F/T sensing, linear gripper, and robot vision. The position/force control algorithm and experimental results for assembling chemical couplers are presented.
Hybrid rotor position estimation methods that integrate a fundamental model and high frequency (HF) signal injection are widely used for the wide speed-range sensorless control of interior permanent-magnet synchronous machines (IPMSMs). However, the direct transition of two different schemes may lead to system fluctuations or system instability since two estimated rotor positions based on two different schemes are always unequal due to the effects of parameter variations, system delays and inverter nonlinearities. In order to avoid these problems, a seamless transition strategy to define and construct a virtual q-axis inductance is proposed in this paper. With the proposed seamless transition strategy, an estimated rotor position based on a fundamental model is forced to track that based on HF signal injection before the transition by adjusting the constructed virtual q-axis inductance. Meanwhile, considering that the virtual q-axis inductance changes with rotor position estimation errors, a new observer with a two-phase phase-locked loop (TP-PLL) is developed to accurately obtain the virtual q-axis inductance online. Furthermore, IPMSM sensorless control with maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) operations can be tracked automatically by selecting the proper virtual q-axis inductance. Finally, experimental results obtained from an IPMSM demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed seamless transition strategy.
In this paper, a new method of position synchronizing control is proposed for multi-axes driving system. The proposed position synchronizing control system is constituted with speed and synchronizing controller. The speed controller is aimed at the following to speed reference. Furthermore, it is designed to guarantee low sensitivity under some disturbance as well as robustness against model uncertainties using $H_{\infty}$technique. The synchronizing controller is designed to keep minimizing the position error using PID control law which is considered to reduce the dimension of transfer function in the control system. Especially, the proposed method can be easily conducted by controlling only slave axis speed, because it, has variable structure which is decided to master and slave axis by the sign of synchronizing error. Therfore, the master axis which is smaller influenced than another axes by disturbance can be controlled without reducing or increasing its speed for precise position synchronization. The effectiveness of the proposed method is sucessfully confirmed through many experiments.s.
In this paper, analysis of magnetic marker for autonomous vehicle guidance system using 3-axis magnetic sensor propose. Position sensing is an important an estimation system of vehicle position and orientation on magnetic lane, which is a parameter of the steering controller for automated lane following is described. To verify that the magnetic dipole model could be applied to a magnetic unit paved in roadway, the analysis of the data 3-axis magnetic field measured experimentally.
