The purpose of this study was to research the perception on patient private information protection of 126 nursing students before clinical practice. The mean score of perception on patient private information protection was 4.52 points of full 5. The perception of protecting patient privacy was no significantly differentiated with general characteristics of nursing students. Development and application of patient private information education program for inexperienced nursing students is necessary. Also it is necessary to seek joint plans between medical institutions and universities to improve the awareness of patient privacy.

Adoption of wireless communication facilities in mobile devices leads to increased vulnerability in individual privacy. One of such cases was discovered when a smart mobile phone of Paris Hilton at Oscar Award Ceremony was hacked a Swedish group of hackers. In this study, I wondered what sort of personal information could be exposed to hackers in such cases. In the course of survey, it was recognized that technical analysis of flash memory in mobile devices to check what kinds of data are stored there is technically almost impossible, since they are usually built in a proprietary manner. No generic tools could apply to discover their contents. Having recognized technical difficulties, it was inevitable to resort to a questionnaire survey to see awareness level with regard to personal privacy. We collected response from three hundred respondents by posting the questionnaire at World Survey on-line research site. What we have discovered was quite astonishing that even personal residence registration numbers have been found from nine of every ten respondents. Other data revealed include phone numbers, names, and personal bank accounts.

In the era of the 4th industrial revolution, the development of information technology brought various benefits, but it also increased social interest in privacy issues. As the possibility of personal privacy violation by big data increases, academic discussion about privacy management has begun to be active. While the traditional view of privacy has been defined at various levels as the basic human rights, most of the recent research trends are mainly concerned only with the information privacy of online privacy protection. This limited discussion can distort the theoretical concept and the actual perception, making the academic and social consensus of the concept of privacy more difficult. In this study, we analyze the privacy concept that is exposed on the internet based on 12,000 news data of the portal site for the past one year and compare the difference between the theoretical concept and the socially accepted concept. This empirical approach is expected to provide an understanding of the changing concept of privacy and a research direction for the conceptualization of privacy for current situations.

This study aims to propose a framework for evaluating the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) services, based on the concept of AI service impact. It also suggests a model for evaluating this impact and identifies relevant factors and measurement approaches for each item of the model. The study classifies the impact of AI services into five categories: ethics, safety and reliability, compliance, user rights, and environmental friendliness. It discusses these five categories from a broad perspective and provides 21 detailed factors for evaluating each category. In terms of ethics, the study introduces three additional factors-accessibility, openness, and fairness-to the ten items initially developed by KISDI. In the safety and reliability category, the study excludes factors such as dependability, policy, compliance, and awareness improvement as they can be better addressed from a technical perspective. The compliance category includes factors such as human rights protection, privacy protection, non-infringement, publicness, accountability, safety, transparency, policy compliance, and explainability.For the user rights category, the study excludes factors such as publicness, data management, policy compliance, awareness improvement, recoverability, openness, and accuracy. The environmental friendliness category encompasses diversity, publicness, dependability, transparency, awareness improvement, recoverability, and openness.This study lays the foundation for further related research and contributes to the establishment of relevant policies by establishing a model for evaluating the impact of AI services. Future research is required to assess the validity of the developed indicators and provide specific evaluation items for practical use, based on expert evaluations.

After the enactment of the Personal Information Protection Act, policies and activities for the personal information protection have been actively promoted. However the people are showing negative attitudes about personal information, as the ongoing personal data leakages. Therefore, authors tried to empirical analysis of the effectiveness of national policy on the protection of personal information, using SERVQUAL model, focused on the people's perception, in order to identify that how the people recognized current policy. Authors find that the public has perceived the effectiveness of the policy positively, but the level of their awareness is low. And we identify that the people are highly aware of the policy's effectiveness for Immediacy, Convenience and Responsibility, while they have the lowest effectiveness for Efficiency. The policy's improvement focused on the public's low expectations/perceptions and effectiveness awareness, is required in order to develop people-oriented national privacy policy that are satisfied by the people.

In Internet of Things (IoT) environments, devices or sensors everywhere can automatically collect data without the individual awareness, further combine and share data using ubiquitous network, and thus the development of IoT raises new challenges in respect of personal data protection and privacy. This study aims to identify main issues related to data protection in the IoT and propose adequate measures. We analyzed the types of personal data controllers and processors in IoT and figured out the issues regarding the processing of personal data and the rights to privacy of data subject. Accordingly, we suggested the institutional ways (e.g., establishment of user-friendly notice and flexible consent system, re-identification risk monitoring system, data protection in cross-border transfer, and user education) to improve the situation of personal data protection in IoT and finally proposed the improvement tasks to carry out first based on the degree of urgency and importance.

In the smart intelligence information society, there is a possibility that the social dysfunction such as the personal information protection issue and the risk to the electronic surveillance society may be highlighted. In this paper, we refer to various categories and classify electronic surveillance into audio surveillance, visual surveillance, location surveillance, biometric information surveillance, and data surveillance. In order to respond to new electronic surveillance in the intelligent information society, it requires a change of perception that is different from that of the past. This starts with the importance of digital privacy and results in the right to self-determination of personal information. Therefore, in order to preemptively respond to the dysfunctions that may arise in the intelligent information society, it is necessary to further raise the awareness of the civil society to protect information human rights.

The government was fully aware of the gravity of a recent massive leak of personal information of credit card users. Meanwhile, the government just took a light disciplinary action by imposing a fine, but it showed its intention to strengthen the regulations by taking the severest disciplinary action. The tightened regulations against personal information leak will be applied to the private security industry without exception to protect individual people's property and lives if such an incident occurs in that industry that deals with a wide variety of personal information such as CCTV data or privacy information all the time. The purpose of this study was to examine the state of the protection and management of personal information for service users among private security firms in an effort to suggest some reform measures. The findings of the study were as follows: First, administrators or managers who are involved with personal information protection should make a full-fledged effort to gather information. Second, counseling or related programs should be provided for small and mid-sized security firms to guarantee thorough personal information protection. Third, Korea Security Association should improve the educational system related to personal information protection to resolve problems with this education currently provided for managers and employees of these companies.

This study investigates how consumers perceive the collection of behavioral information through 'cookies' on OTT platforms and the impact it has on personalized services. Through SPSS analysis on 120 consumers, which was conducted to examine four hypotheses, correlations were found between awareness of OTT companies' behavioral information collection and online tracking recognition, awareness and willingness to provide cookies, and the extent of confirming behavioral information collection terms during registration and online tracking recognition. The study concludes that consumer knowledge about behavioral information significantly influences the importance and intention to use personalized services, highlighting the need for regulatory measures by both companies and government entities.

This study was conducted with the goal to identify the degree to which elementary school students' knowledge about personal information protection practices impacted their actual behavior with regard to privacy protection. To fulfill this goal, knowledge about personal information protection was set as (1) knowledge about concepts of personal information, (2) knowledge of the rights of information holders, (3) knowledge about the code of conduct for information protection, and (4) awareness of the value of personal information. As for students' behaviors to ensure their personal information protection those were set as their habits to comply with the personal in-formation protection code of conduct and their efforts to respond and recover from any personal information violation. This study was conducted targeting 510 elementary students. The degree of the students' knowledge and their behaviors was measured by first distributing a self-report survey to the students and then analyzing their responses. The results of the analysis revealed the following: First, it was found that there are no differences among the four factors of knowledge and behavior according to the status of their education. Second, the two factors that primarily affected their personal information protection behavior were found to be their awareness of the information protection code of conduct and awareness of the value of personal information. This study holds significance in that it makes suggestions as to how personal protection practices should be taught to public school students.
