Study of New Approach of Performance Analysis for OADF Relay Systems over Rayleigh Fading channels (레일리 페이딩 채널에서의 OADF 릴레이 시스템에 대한 새로운 성능분석 기법에 관한 연구)

  • In this letter, we have derived another exact performance analysis for the OADF(opportunistic adaptive decode-and-forward) relay systems over Rayleigh fading channels. Based on error-events at relay nodes, the received instantaneous SNR(signal-to-noise ratio) is presented and its PDF(probability density function) is expressed as a more tractable form in which the number of summations and the length of each summation are specified. Then, exact average error rate, outage probability, and average channel capacity are obtained as general forms. Simulation results are finally presented to validate that the proposed analytical expressions can be a unified frame work covering all Rayleigh fading channel conditions. Furthermore, it is confirmed that OADF schemes can outperform the other schemes on the average error rate, outage probability, and average channel capacity.

Comparative Study of Two Measures of Traffic Flow Effectiveness at Roundabouts and Signalized Intersections (회전교차로와 신호교차로의 설치기준 지표 비교에 관한 연구)

  • PURPOSES : This study compared two measures of traffic flow effectiveness on roads with roundabouts and signalized intersections and determined the more appropriate measure. METHODS : In addition to average delay time, the conventionally used measure, average travel time was introduced to measure traffic flow effectiveness because it is able to be obtained through field survey and reflect different travel distances and speed limits of roundabouts and signalized intersections. Using the two measures, roundabouts and signalized intersections were compared through simulations in terms of traffic flow effectiveness. RESULTS : For one-way single-lane roads, the two measures indicated consistent results that roundabouts were more effective than were signalized intersections when the traffic volume was less than 300 vphpl but vice versa when it exceeded 450 vphpl; however, the measures yielded inconsistent results when the volume was 350~400 vphpl. For one-way double-lane roads, the two measures indicated consistent results that roundabouts were more effective than were signalized intersections when the volume was less than 200 vphpl but vice versa when it exceeded 400 vphpl; however, the measures yielded inconsistent results when the volume was 250~350 vphpl. The results obtained using the two measures differed substantially for double-lane roads because behaviors such as weaving and lane changing at roundabouts are more common in double-lane roads than in single-lane roads. CONCLUSIONS : The average delay time would be lower on roads with roundabouts, but average travel time would be lower on roads with signalized intersections. Thus, evaluating the relative effectiveness of roads with roundabouts and signalized intersections by using average delay time alone would be inappropriate, whereas using average travel time as the evaluation index would yield fairer results.

  • This study was carried out to assess the present level of atmospheric metals. Five metals - lead, cadmium, chromium, manganese, vanadium - were checked on the industrial(Sasang) and residental area(Daeshindong) in the city of Pusan. Sampling period was the year of 1986, 1990 and 1994, and the sampling time was 2 days of each site. As the result of comparison with the atmospheric standard of ASHRAE(1980), the average concentrations of lead was above the standard, the average concentrations of chromium was around the standard, and the average concentrations of cadmium and vanadium was below the standard. The average concentrations of manganese was above the standard of industrial environment. And the average concentrations of five metals was higher in the industrial area than the residental area. The average concentrations of lead, cadmium and chromium showed the increase tendency by the year, and the average concentrations of vanadium showed no change, and the average concentrations of manganese showed the decrease tendency. As a result of correlation analysis, lead and cadmium(r=0.31), vanadium and manganese(r=0.24), vanadium and chromium(r=0.19) showed significance.

  • In gravure printing ink in printed flexible packaging considering the characteristics of the study more accurate color management options and results were as follows. When applying G7 calibration, P2P of the target GRACol G7 evaluate the delta $L^*$ and delta $F^*$, CMY and K-scale average of the results of delta $L^*$ and the highest tolerance G7 average of 1.5 and 3.0 are included in all the best. In addition, the average delta $F^*$ and super delta $F^*$, G7 tolerance by being included within the scope of color management, G7 calibration was possible. Target IT 8.7/4 CMYK, when applied to the calibration G7, Color gravure printing machine is applied to the average of the previous decreased from 12.4 to 3.6. In addition, if a digital proof is EPSON WT 7900 the average color applied to the previous reduction from 5.24 to 0.74 because of the gravure printing color proofing system was effective in the management. G7 calibration by applying the reference print profile of the Epson WT 7900-G-icc, the average was 0.74 coloration, and gravure-G-icc cases, the average color of the 3.60 per GRACol average of all the five colors below were included within the allowable range. Thus, the flexible packaging gravure printing color management of printed after applying the first G7 calibration, the results refer to the press by the profiling, and where best to take advantage of the profile creation was good.

Experimental Characteristic of Drain Control to Cherepnov Water Lifter (Cherepnov 송수기에 대한 배수제어방식의 실험적 특성)

  • The perpose of this study was to suggest the experimental characteristic of the Cherepnov Water Lifter following the drain mode. The Cherepnov Water Lifter(CWL), which is powered by the potential energy of water, can be set to operate automatically when the water m a tank is drained. In this study, a CWL is constructed in the valve drain controlling mode(VCM) and the siphon drain controlling mode(SCM), and a pressure transducer is installed. It was found that, in the VCM, intake flow volume is proportional to both delivery flow volume and drain flow volume. In the SCM, intake flow volume is proportional to drain flow volume, and the average delivery rate is proportional to both efficiency and the water utilization ratio. Also, in the VCM, the water utilization ratio is 35~49%, efficiency is 62~9O%, average delivery rate is 12.8~81.2$cm^3$/s, and the average drain rate is 14.O~91.5c$cm^3$/s. On the contrary in the SCM, the water utilization ratio is 1.7~38%, efficiency is 3~58%, average delivery rate is 3.1 ~69.2$cm^3$/s, and the average drain rate is shown as 114.5~ 183$cm^3$/s. As a result of the water utilization ratio, efficiency, average delivery rate, and average drain rate are compared, the VCM is found to be superior and the more economical mode. However, the VCM requires manpower and electricity to operate the electronic machinery involved, while the SCM requires no manpower or electricity at all. An economic evaluation of these differences will be necessary in the future. Also, in the SCM, studies to improve water utilization ratio and efficiency, to find the optimum height of the siphon for decreasing the average drain rate, and to determine the radius of curvature of throat have to be conducted in advance, since a large flow rate is drained during the priming action of the siphon.

A Study on the Korean Pillows (우리나라 베개(침)에 관한 소고 -유물과 문헌을 통하여-)

  • The purpose of this study is to find at the basic data for the appropriate conditions of the pillows for the Koreans. In this study, the origins, materials, the forms and the sizes of Korean pillows have been investigated by means of existing remains and the existing documentary records. The results are as follows : 1) We can infer that ordinary pillows have already been used in a period of the three kingdoms, because the pillows for the dead bodies been unearthed from the tombs of this period. 2) Round pillows which are used nowadays to rest our heads have also been utilized as early as in Koryo Dynasty or even in the previous period. It is because the pillows described in Koryo dakeyung are similar to the present round ones. Most of the existing Koryo pillows have been made fo ceramics. Their average length is 20.0$\pm$5.4cm, the average low height is 9.7$\pm$0.9cm, and their average high height is 11.8$\pm$1.2cm. 3) The material which has been used to make pillows in Choson Dynasty is various : textile, wood, rush, bamboo, ceramics, etc. Most of them have been made in a round form or in a form of lying square. The average low height of lying squares is 8.1$\pm$2.5cm. The average high height is 11.9$\pm$1.9cm, and the average lenght is 19.0$\pm$5.6cm. The average diameter of embroidered pads attached to both sides of round pillows or the average length of one side of regular squares is 12.5$\pm$2.3cm.

  • An experimental study is conducted to evaluate and compare the use of BiodieseDI Fuel supplements at blend ratio of 10/90(BDF10) and 20/80(BDF20), in four stroke, direct injection diesel engine located at the authors' laboratory. especially this Biodiesel is produced from Rape oil at the authors' laboratory. The tests are conducted using each of the above fuel blends, in the engine working at a speed of 1800rpm and at a various loads. In each test, specific fuel consumption, exhaust emissions such as nitrogen oxides(NOx), carbon monoxide(CO) and Soot are measured. The results of investigation at various operating conditions are as follows (1) Specific fuel consumption is increased average 1.52%, maximum 1.84% at load 25% in case of BDF10, and average 1.98%, maximum 2.80% at load 25% in case of BDF20. (2) CO emission is decreased average 5.14%, maximum 6.09% at load 0% in case of BDF10, and average 7.75%, maximum 9.13% at load 0% in case of BDF 20. (3) NOx emission is increased average 2.97%, maximum 3.74% at load 0% in case of BDF10, and average 3.84%, maximum 4.67% at load 0% in case of BDF20. (4) Soot emission is decreased average 9.36%, maximum 10.85% at load 75% in case of BDF10, and average 11.99%, maximum 13.95% at load 75% in case of BDF20.

Infection Status with Clonorchis sinensis Metacercariae in Pseudorasbora parva from a Tributary Stream of Naktonggang (River) in Pusan, Korea

  • This study was performed to investigate the infection status with Clonorchis sinensis metacercariae in Pseudorasbora parva from a tributary stream of Naktonggang (River) in Kangso-gu, Pusan. A total of 325 P. parva was collected in 4 sites using fish traps. They were transferred in the laboratory, measured the length and examined by artificial digestion method. In the site I, a total of 72 (80.0%) out of 90 fish examined was infected with 1~665 (112 in average) metacercariae of C. sinensis. The average number of metacercariae infected by the size of fish was 146 in the group of over 8 cm, 61 in 7.0~7.9 cm and 86 in below 6.9 cm. In the site II, a total of 50 (83.3%) out of 60 fish examined was infected with 1~178 (31 in average) metacercariae. The average number of metacercariae was 40 in the group of over 8 cm 35 in 7.0~7.9 cm, 23 in 6.0~6.9 cm and 25 in below 5.9 cm. In the site III, a total of 68 (97.1%) out of 70 fish examined was infected with 1~2,662 (508 in average) metacercariae. The average number of metacercariae was 679 in the group of over 7.0 cm, 444 in 6.0~6.9 cm and 426 in below 5.9 cm. In the site IV, a total of 103 (98.1%) out of 105 fish examined was infected with 1~1,536 (416 in average) metacercariae. The average number of metacercariae was 532 in the group of over 7 cm, 353 in 6.0~6.9 cm and 262 in below 5.9 cm. From the above results, it is confirmed that there are wide differences in the infection status of C. sinensis metacercariae in P. paeva according to investigation sites, and P. parva collected from the lower stream are more heavily infected than those from the upper stream.

Spatial Distribution of Precipitation Trends According to Geographical and Topographical Conditions (지리지형적 조건에 따른 강수량 추세 분포)

  • The spatial distribution of precipitation trends according to urbanization, geographical and topographical conditions have been studied. In this study, precipitation data from 1973 to 2006 were analyzed for 56 climatological stations including the Seoul metropolis in South Korea. In addition to annual average daily precipitation, monthly average daily precipitation in April, July, October and January were analyzed, considering seasonal effect. The geographical and topographical characteristics of these sites were examined using GIS analysis. Land use status of the study area was also examined to estimate the extent of urbanization. The study results indicate that annual average precipitation increased, and monthly average precipitation in April and October decreased, while those in January and July increased. Considering urbanization effect, annual average precipitation and monthly average precipitation in July increased; however, monthly average precipitation in January, April and October decreased. Furthermore, compared with urbanization rate and proximity to coast, average elevation of study area appeared to be the most close correlation with annual and monthly averages of precipitation trends.

A Study on the Physical Characteristics of Irrigation Reservoirs in Korea (우리나라 관개용 흙댐 저수지의 외형적 제특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out not only to prepare available materials that can be utilized in basic planning of irrigation reservoirs, but also to contribute to the study on countermeasures for reasonable irrigation water development in Korea in the future, through the investigation for the structural characteristics of reservoirs and their change trend by an epoch. During this study 123 sites of sample reservoirs were analysed in their dimensions of physical constituent factors. The physical characteristics and their change trends revealed by this study are summarized as follows: 1. For the irrigation earth dam in Korea the correlation between dam volume (v) and dam height & length (H$^2$L) can be described as the formula of v=1. 434H2L~17, 300 (r=0. 933), from which embankment amount is assumed to be quickly estimated under determined dam height and length of the proposed reservoir. 2. The ratio of dam volume to dam height & length ranges approximately from 0.5 to 3 (1.7 in average), that of storage capacity to dam volume 2 to 10 (8.4 in average), that of irrigation area to full water surface area 5 to 20 (13 in average) and that of catchment area to irrigation area 2 to 5 (4 in average). Though correlation between dam volume and dam height & length is high, that between others is relatively low. 3. Average storage depth ranges approximately from 4m to l0m (6.6m in average), unit storage capacity 0. 4m to 0. 8m (0.54 in average) and shape factor of dam 5 to 20 (10.5 in average). 4. The more recently planned the reservoirs were, the less storage capacity, dam volume, full water surface and dam shape factor they have. 5. The more recently planned the reservoirs were, the larger storage depth and unit storage capacity they have.
