  • This paper presents a local trajectory generation method which is based on a sequence of reference posture-velocities and the efficient low level control algorithm which constructs the complete smooth curve from the trajectory specification. The reference trajectory generator(RTG) which is in between the local path planner(LPP) and the robot motion controller(RMC) generates a sequence of set-points for each path segments from the LPP and pass it to the RMC. The RMC controls the motions of vehicle which should follow the sequence. In the feedback controller of VMC, the method which compensates robot posture-velocity error correctly is used. These methods are implemented on indoor autonomous vehicle, 'ALIVE' mobile robot. The ALIVE mobile robot system is implemented on the 32bit VME bus system: the two VME CPU's are used for RTG and RMC, while the 80C196KC-based VME board is used for motor controller.

  • The functions of a mobile robot such as obstacle knowledge and collision avoidance for in-door cleaning are necessary features, as has been much studied in the field of industrial automatic guided vehicle or general mobile robot. A mobile robot, in order to avoid collision with obstacles, has to gather data with environment knowledge sensors and recognize environment and the shape of obstacles from the data. In the study, a wall-following algorithm was suggested as a autonomous moving algorithm in which a mobile robot can recognize obstacles in indoor like environment and do cleaning work in effect. The system suggested in the study is for cleaning of nuclear material dusts generated in the process of nuclear fuel manufacturing and decontamination of devices in disorder which is performed in M6 radioactive ray shield hot-cell in IMEF(Irradiated Material Examination Facility) in the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute.

  • This paper purposed that verify the validity of Petri Net method for control progressive increase of system complexity, before extend the realized single robot system to multi-robot system. An autonomous mobile robot(AMR) needs decision making, motion control, path planning, tracking a path, obstacle avoidance, and sensor fusion, to complete its task. An AMR integrates and operates these technics through a consistent command system. An error in a command hierarchy which is like duplication or omission of a control command hierarchy for each module results in serious problems. This paper minimizes the error by modeling each module and whole system using Petri Net graphical representation and applies it to the exploration task of an AMR

  • This paper addresses the vision based autonomous walking control system. To handle the obstacles which exist beyond the field of view(FOV), we used the 3d panoramic depth image. Moreover, to decide the avoidance direction and walking motion of a humanoid robot for the obstacle avoidance by itself, we proposed the vision based path planning using 3d panoramic depth image. In the vision based path planning, the path and walking motion are decided under environment condition such as the size of obstacle and available avoidance space. The vision based path planning is applied to a humanoid robot, URIA. The results from these evaluations show that the proposed method can be effectively applied to decide the avoidance direction and the walking motion of a practical humanoid robot.

  • Environmental change, labor shortage, and international trade politics make agricultural automation ever more important. The automation demands the highest technology due to the nature of agriculture. In this paper, autonomous pesticide spray robot system has been developed for rose farming in the glass house. We developed drive platform, navigation/localization system, atomization spray system, autonomous, remote, and manual operation system, and monitoring system. The robot will be a great contribution to automation of hazardous labor-demanding chore of pesticide control in glass houses.

  • This study is regarding the autonomous navigation of the mobile robot which operates through a sensor, the Omnnidirectional Vision System which makes it possible to retrieve the real-time movements of the objects and the walls accessing the robot from all directions and to shorten the processing time. After attempting to extend the field of view by using the reflection system and then learning the point of all directions of 2$\pi$ from the robot at the distance, robot recognizes three-dimensional world through the simple image process, the transform procedure and constant monitoring of the angle and distance from the peripheral obstacles. This study consists of 3 parts: Part 1 regards the process of designing Omnnidirectional Vision System and part 2 the image process, and part 3 estimates the implementation system through the comparative study process and three-dimensional measurements.

  • Presented in this paper is a newly developed motion planning method of an autonomous mobile robot(MAR) which can be applied to flexible manufacturing systems(FMS). The mobile robot is designed for transporting tools and workpieces between a set-up station and machines according to production schedules of the whole FMS. The proposed method is implemented based on an earlier developed real-time obstacle avoidance method which employs Kohonen network for pattern classification of sonar readings and fuzzy logic for local path planning. Particulary, a novel obstacle avoidance method for moving objects using a collision index, collision possibility measure, is described. Our method has been tested on the SNU mobile robot. The experimental results show that the robot successfully navigates to its target while avoiding moving objects.

  • There has been an ever increasing interest in mobile robot for home services. However, issues currently being investigated for path planning of the mobile robot is concentrated to solving the problem of finding the optimal path from the initial location to the final location under the given performance index. In this study, we newly present a sweeping algorithm for autonomous mobile robot to cover the whole closed area under the unknown environment. And we verify the validity the validity of the formalized algorithm by computer simulation with the changing environment conditions. In addition to this, we analyse the effect of real system implementation of the proposed algorithm to a experimental miniature mobile robit(Khepera).

  • This paper proposes a method for determining navigation path of an autonomous mobile robot in surrounding environment using a fuzzy algorithm. This fuzzy algorithm includes three type (MIN-TIME, ECONOMY, SAFETY) motion mode for the given robot to get the ability to meet the ambiguous situation which the robot will encounter. Each node is applied to the game situation. This paper conclude with some results of computer simulation concerning an evaluation of this method.

  • Intelligent robots are widely needed in various areas of industry from extremely dangerous environments to service tasks. For autonomous mobile robots, it is significant to move itself safely to a destination point, recognizing its surroundings. Advances in sensor technology and its applications are achieved in order to develop an intelligent robot. In this paper, a mobile robot with a path-finding algorithm is presented. The path-finding algorithm is the one that does not only find a path to designated destination and also recognizes obstacles on the way, calculating its distance. 10 ultrasonic sensor are mounted on the front and rear of the mobile robot to figure out its position. Specular reflection and wide viewing angle, which are inherent characteristics of ultrasonic waves, cause errors in measuring distance.
