Experimental Research on the Power Saving Effect Evaluation of a Variable Displacement Vane Pump for an Automatic Transmission (자동변속기용 가변 용량 베인 펌프의 파워 절감 효과 평가에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • A variable displacement vane pump is possible to improve the fuel economy by varying the pump capacity with a vane mechanism according to the engine operating speed range and reducing its driving torque. In general the experimental evaluation of the vane pump for the transmission has been performed mainly not with the vehicle or dynamometer test rig but with component test rig due to the implementation and safety problems. In this paper, in order to evaluate the performance of the developed vane pump as well as the compatibility with other rotary and hydraulic components of the target transmission, the transmission dynamometer based test rig is implemented where the developed pump is built into it and then the variable pump capacity and effect of power reduction are investigated experimentally.

  • A magnetic flux saturation model of Synchronous Reluctance Motors (SynRMs) and a parameter estimation method are proposed at standstill. The proposed magnetic flux model includes the nonlinear relationship between the current and the magnetic flux for self-saturation and cross-saturation. Voltage is injected at standstill to estimate the magnetic flux saturation model. Voltages are injected into the d-axis and q-axis to obtain data on self-saturation. Subsequently, voltages are simultaneously injected into the d-q axis to obtain data on cross-saturation. On the basis of the measured current and the calculated magnetic flux, the parameters of the proposed model are estimated using the least square method (LSM). Simulation and experiment were performed on a 1.5-kW SynRM to verify the proposed method. The proposed model can be used to create a high-efficiency operation table, a sensorless algorithm, and a current controller to improve the control performance of a motor.

  • 자동 Brake제어장치(ABCS)는 정차중에는 brake pedal을 놓아도 되고 gear 중립시에는 clutch pedal까지 놓아도 제동력이 계속 되므로 휴식할 수 있으며 출발시에는 전후진, 상하경사에 관계없이 쉽게 출발하므로 자동차 문화에서 혁신적인 발명품이라 할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 1982년 8월에 Toyota가 전자제어시스템을 갖춘 새로운 디이젤기관을 선보였다. 이 제어시스템 들은 연료의 분사량, 분사시간, 아이들링속도, 글로우 플러그(glow plug)전류 및 흡기량의 최적 제어를 할 수 있도록 하였다. 이로써 높은 기관성능, 즉 훌륭한 연료절약효과와 양호한 운전성 능에 기관의 소음이나 진동의 저감 등에 큰 이점들을 얻을 수 있게 된다.

  • The Center for Transportation Research at the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) supports the DOE by evaluating advanced automotive technologies in a systems context. ha has developed a unique set of compatible simulation tools and test equipment to perform an integrated systems analysis project from modeling through hardware testing and validation. This project utilized these capabilities to demonstrate the trade-off in fuel economy and Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) emissions in a so-called ‘pre-transmission’ parallel hybrid powertrain. The powertrain configuration (in simulation and on the dynamometer) consists of a Compression Ignition Direct Ignition (CIDI) engine, a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and an electric drive motor coupled to the CVT input shaft. The trade-off is studied in a simulated environment using PSAT with different controllers (fuzzy logic and rule based) and engine models (neural network and steady state models developed from ANL data).

  • This paper represents a new powertrain simulation methodology using the object-oriented programming paradigm. The advantage of the object-oriented is the module interchangeability and simulation flexibility. Powertrain subsystems and controller modules are implemented using the MEX files in MATLAB Simulink in this paper, preserving module interchangeability. Currently, the required CPU time on a 75MHz Pentium PC is about three times the real time. It is anticipated that the "Automotive Powersystem Toolbox" being developed in this research would be of much utility in designing subsystem controllers as well as in designing subsystem mechanicals.chanicals.

  • In this study, a novel hybrid vehicle is proposed. The vehicle has a flywheel-engine hybrid system. Flywheels are more effective as energy charge systems than electric batteries in a respect of output power density. However, transmissions to effectively drive flywheels are very complex systems such as CVTs (Continuously Variable Transmissions). In the proposed hybrid vehicle, Constant Pressure System is employed, which is hydraulic power transmission. Using Constant Pressure Systems, hydraulic CVTs are easily realized with variable displacement pumps/motors. In this paper, firstly, the proposed flywheel hybrid vehicle making use of Constant Pressure System is described. Secondly, fuel consumption characteristics of the flywheel hybrid vehicle are experimentally examined with the stationary test facility, which employs a flywheel as a load emulating vehicle inertia. Finally, the experimental results and discussions are described. Fuel consumption of 26km/L is expected for 10 mode driving schedule with vehicle mass of 1500kg.

  • Due to the distinct advantages of comfort, drive ability and fuel economy standard, the variable displacement swash plate type compressor which can control the compressor displacement by increasing or reducing the swash plate angle has been developed for automotive air-conditioning system. That can be obtained constant temperature of car room on the variation cooling capacities or engine speeds. This paper was carried out the analysis of swash plate behavior to obtain the forces and moments applied to the swash plate and to get the variable controlability on the variation of compressor speeds and swash plate chamber pressures. The results of simuation agree very well with the experimental data.
