Optimal Guaranteed Cost Control of Linear Uncertain Systems with Input Constraints

  • The guaranteed cost control problem for a class of linear systems with norm-bounded time-varying parameter uncertainties and input constraints is considered. A sufficient condition for the existence of guaranteed cost state feedback controllers is derived via the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, and a design procedure to guaranteed cost controllers is given. Furthermore, a convex optimization problem is formulated to determine the optimal guaranteed cost controller. An example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.

  • A manufacturing process for the axle-housing is analyzed by the rigid-plastic finite element method. The process contains five stages for the final product. During the simulation, remeshings are done four times due to severe mesh distributions. FE Analysis is performed mainly for strain distributions and load-stroke relationships. Those results are to be an useful design criteria for designing a new process sequence in future.

  • A fast, accurate model for calculating roll gap variables are critical to the implementation of computer based automation systems for cold rolling mills. Based on the work of Fleck and Johnson, rollgap simulator with non-circular arc model was developed using the influence function. This developed model is capable of predicting values of force, torque and slip which can be applied over the wide range of rolling conditions including cold rolling/DR/temper mill with high execution speed. Friction coefficient was obtained as a function of operation conditions through analyzing measured data. After combination of rollgap simulator with production strategy, draft schedule for No.3 RCM (Reversible Cold Rolling Mill) in Incheon works of Dongbu Steel was developed. This draft schedule will be installed in the setup computer of No.3 RCM replacing old Hitachi model.

  • Nowadays coustomer's needs for high surface quality steel sheet has greatly increased, so it is necessary to pay more attention to the roll grinding, texturing and handling. POSCO can acquire high surface quality roll and high productivity through World-first fully automated Roll Shop system which had been constructed '94.10.1∼'97.8.28 at Kwangyang Works. Roll Shop Automation System consists of Level-I, II, III control system and 23 automated machines. After the completion of the construction, the system started smoothy and keeps its operation with high productivity as expected. The installation of this system gave an epoch-making man power saving. This paper introduce its main facilities and operation.

  • In this paper, the automation of sweeping center setting for wavelength swept laser used in SS-OCT has implemented. For 3 regions where the initial FFP-TF pass wavelength can be located, each different DC voltage pattern is applied to FFP-TF. Through its performance test to the laser, fast and exact setting to sweeping central wavelength, flat sweeping with ${\pm}0.5dB$ fluctuation range, and 10 mW average optical power were obtained. This shows that the realized automatic setting process can replace an inconvenient manual setting operation used for current wavelength swept laser. Additionally it cuts costs for optical spectrum analyzer necessary to laser spectrum monitoring.

  • The runner-valve is an effective solution for the filling balance of the multi cavity molds. Automation of the runner-valve system is necessary for more efficient and accurate control of the filing balance. We designed an automatic runner-valve actuator for the automation and characterized the actuator by experiment. We obtained a linear relationship between motor-driving time and the height of the runner-valve. However, the motor-driving times for upward and downward directions were different due to the frictional characteristics of the actuators. Also we obtained the motor-driving times for backlashes of the 4 actuators. The results were used to formulate the relationship between the resin-arrival time and the flow rate change of the runner-valve with the theoretical equation that was derived in the previous research.

  • This paper proposes to integrate WAP(Wireless Application Protocol) with Bluetooth to implement a home automation system. One of the most important benefits of the proposed approach is the elimination of the problem of limited distance of Bluetooth as less than 10 meter. With WAP providing a data link between the Internet and a mobile phone and embedded WEB camera through Bluetooth, we can control various home appliances whenever and wherever we want. The hardware and software design issues for implementing such system are discussed and a pilot home automation system is implemented.

  • Combining digital automation solutions throughout recent manufacturing process is essential. Advanced robot and mechanical techniques are required for design, manufacture, and distribution process. Manual design of repetitive similar mechanical components during the development phase of these advanced machines and robots can occur wasting time and money. Developed gear design module, which is the power transfer system mechanical component, was programmed in the Visual Basic language in CATIA V5 environment. Automation Process is Based on Parametric Modeling Method. and it was found to be effective in reducing design time compared to designers manual modeling.

  • Molding is the root industry of the manufacturing as a means to mass-produce developed prototypes. Molds are typically divided into injection molds and press mold industries. Injection molds produce the products by injection of molten plastic into a mold, and press molds are molded and bended plate. The ejection system, such as eject pins, is used to separate the manufactured products from the mold, which involves a number of hole operations. Location, diameter and depth of holes are often tabulated and managed collectively when designing 2D drawings. The design efficiency was realized by applying CATIA Automation to the 3D model and bringing in the data of the holes in the Excel data.

Intentional GNSS Interference Detection and Characterization Algorithm Using AGC and Adaptive IIR Notch Filter

  • A Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS) is an enabling technology for an aircraft's precision approach based on a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). However, GBAS is vulnerable to interference, so effective GNSS interference detection and mitigation methods need to be employed. In this paper, an intentional GNSS interference detection and characterization algorithm is proposed. The algorithm uses Automatic Gain Control (AGC) gain and adaptive notch filter parameters to classify types of incoming interference and to characterize them. The AGC gain and adaptive lattice IIR notch filter parameter values in GNSS receivers are examined according to interference types and power levels. Based on those data, the interference detection and characterization algorithm is developed and Monte Carlo simulations are carried out for performance analysis of the proposed method. Here, the proposed algorithm is used to detect and characterize single-tone continuous wave interference, swept continuous wave interference, and band-limited white Gaussian noise. The algorithm can be used for GNSS interference monitoring in an excessive Radio Frequency Interference environment which causes loss of receiver tracking. This interference detection and characterization algorithm will be used to enhance the interference mitigation algorithm.
