IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY UTILIZATION ON PROJECT OWNER SATISFACTION

  • Construction firms attempt to improve project performance by adopting technology. However, the advantages gained from technology utilization are still not clear. Lack of information regarding technology benefits has resulted in industry reluctance to implement new technology. Therefore, there are needs for studies that quantify the impacts of technology utilization on project performance. An industry-wide survey was used to collect project data from 70 capital facility projects on the issue of technology usage and project owner satisfaction parameter. This paper reports on integration/automation technology usage in the Taiwanese construction industry and associated impacts on project owner satisfaction. In addition, integration and automation technology findings are presented by project phase. The analyses indicate that projects with owner satisfaction have, on average, higher levels of technology utilization than projects with owner dissatisfaction for all technology usage metrics analyzed.

  • The advent of microprocessor controls and robotics is rapidly changing the face of manufacturing throughout the world. Large and small companies alike are adopting these new methods to improve the efficiency of their operations. Factory Automation, which is in reality by robots, is playing more important role in economic competition and growth. Its core technology, i.e. robotics, is advanced in accordance with the remarkable progress of the computer technology and micro-electronics. Roughly speaking, its future might determine the fate of a national economy. In this paper, the future trends of such robotics and factory automation are described from a point of view of industrial application.

  • In this paper, a novel method of reaching law variable structure control based on fuzzy rules is present, which is that the reaching law parameters is on-line adjusted by fuzzy rules. This method is used in a digital ac position servo system, the experiment results show that the system designed by this method has both satisfactory quality and very smaller chattering.

  • An efficient dynamic control algorithm that outperforms existing local torque optimization techniques for redundant manipulators is presented. The method resolves redundancy at the acceleration level. In this method, a systematic switching technique as a trade-off means between local torque optimization and global stability is proposed based on the stability condition proposed by Maciejewski [1]. Comparative simulations on a three-link planar arm show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Complicated dynamical behavior can occur in model reference adaptive control systems when two external sinusoidal signals are introduced although the plant and reference model are stable linear first older systems. The phase portrait plot and the power spectral analysis indicate chaotic behavior. In the system treated, a positive Lyapuniov exponent and non-integer dimension clearly manifest chaotic nature of the system.

  • This paper presents a ship navigation system and automated equipments on ship board, whose technology has been quite rapidly developing in recent years. The ship owners and builders are much interested in ship automation systems, due to their comfort, safety and lower life cycle cost in ship operation. Here the basic technology and structure of the system are described, also taken into account is the future trend on the development of the system.

Management and application of material handling system are precondition technologies playing an important part in integration of production system including manufacturing. assemhly, and inspection cell. In this paper, the general situation of automation technology is investigated and technology level is analyzed in comparision with an advanced country. And the operation trend and part of material handling system including AS/RS, AGV, and Conveyor, are studied. And also technologies related to material handling system in the inside and outside of the country are studied.
