Measurement of 3D Spreader Position Information using the CCD Cameras and a Laser Distance Measuring Unit

  • This paper introduces a novel approach that can provide the three dimensional information about the movement of a spreader by using two CCD cameras and a laser distance measuring unit in order to derive ALS (Automatic Landing System) in the crane used at a harbor. So far a kind of 2D Laser scanner sensor or laser distance measuring units are used as comer detectors for the geometrical matching between the spreader and a container. Such systems provide only two dimensional information which is not enough for an accurate and fast ALS. In addition to this deficiency in performance, the price of the system is too high to adapt to the ALS. Therefore, to overcome these defects, we proposed a novel method to acquire the three dimensional spreader information using two CCD cameras and a laser distance measuring unit. To show the efficiency of proposed method, real experiments are performed to show the improvement of accuracy in distance measurement by fusing the sensory information of the CCD cameras and a laser distance measuring unit.

초음파 수첨가 연소에 의한 석유 홴 히터의 배기가스 특성 고찰 (An Investigation of Combustion Emission Characteristics of Kerosene Fan Heater with Addition of Water Droplets by Ultrasonic Atomizer)

  • This study is concerned with the emission characteristics of kerosene fan heater, which is burned with kerosene and water droplets simultaneously in the burner, in order to prohibit the emissions of harmful exhaust gas and reduce smell caused by incomplete combustion, and the addition of water droplets to the conventional kerosene fan heater was performed by ultrasonic atomizer. For the investigation of this study, the measurement of exhaust gas components and exhaust gas temperature was carried out by using an automatic combustion gas analyser and $NO_x$ analyser, and the measurement of consumption weight of oil and water was obtained by using electric digital balance. Consequently, according as the water percent weight ratio of about $21{\sim}23%$ was supplied for this study, it was found that the combustion-generated $NO_x$ and CO emissions were reduced very largely, but the emissions of $O_2\;and\;CO_2$ and the temperature of exhaust gas were not changed.

An Automatic Weight Measurement of Rope Using Computer Vision

  • Recently, the computer vision such as part measurement, and product inspection is very popular to achieve the factory automation since the labor cost is dramatically increasing. In this paper, the diameter and the length of rope are measured by CCD camera which is orthogonally mounted on the ceiling. Two parameters which are the diameter and the length of rope are used to measure the weight of rope. If the weight of rope is reached to predetermined weight, the information is transmitted to PLC(programmable logic control) to cut the rope on the wheel. The cutting machine cuts the rope according to the information obtained from the CCD camera. To measure the diameter and length of rope on real time, the searching space for image segmentation is restricted the predetermined area according to the camera calibration position. Finally, to estimate the weight of rope, the knowledge base system which depends on the diameter, the length of rope, and weight relation between these information are constructed according to diameters of rope. This method contributes to achieve the factory automation, and reduce the production cost since the operators are unnecessary to measure the weight of rope by try-and-error method.

  • To reduce the chattering errors of reed switch sensors used for automatic remote measurement of water supply system, a reed switch sensor was analyzed and improved. The operation of reed switch sensors can be described as a mechanical contact by approximation of permanent magnet piece to generate an electrical pulse. The reed switch sensors are used in measurement application by detecting the rotational or translational displacement. To apply for flow measurement devices, the reed switch sensors should keep high reliability. They are applied for the electronic digital type of water flow meters. The reed switch sensor is just installed simply on the mechanical type flow meter. A small magnet is attached on a pointer of the water meter counter rotor. Inside the reed sensor, two steel leaf springs make mechanical contact and apart as rotation of flow meter counter. The counting electrical contact pulses can be converted as the water flow amount. The MCU sends the digital flow rate data to the server using the wireless communication network. But it occurs data difference or errors by chattering noise. The reed switch sensor contains chattering error by it self at the force equivalent position. The vibrations such as passing car near to the switch sensor installed location. In order to reduce chattering error, most system uses just software methods for example using filter and also statistical calibration methods. The chattering errors were reduced by changing leaf spring structure using mechanical hysteresis characteristics.

수질측정 방법 개선을 위한 무인 탐사체의 채수장치 개발방안 (Development of a Water Sampling System for Unmanned Probe for Improvement of Water Quality Measurement)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 원하는 지점까지 자동으로 이동하고 정확한 수심에서 채수 하고 수질을 측정할 수 있는 무인장비를 개발하는데 있다. 이를 위해 채수 리프트 및 채수 컨테이너를 제작하고, VRS-GPS, 음향측심기, 및 수질 측정기를 장착한 무인 탐사체를 제작하였으며, 자동운항 알고리즘 및 프로그램, 자동 채수 프로그램, 수질분포도 작성 프로그램을 개발하였다. 유수지에서 실험한 결과 무인 탐사체는 오차범위 3m 내에서 약 93%의 정확도로 계획 경로를 따라 운항하였다. 또한 채수 리프트에 장착한 수질측정 센서로 대상지역의 수질을 실시간으로 획득하고 무선 인터넷을 통하여 서버에 전송하여 각 지점의 수질을 실시간으로 모니터링 할 수 있었다. 육상에서의 실험을 통해 채수 리프트는 약 94%의 정확도로 원하는 길이를 조절할 수 있었다. 무인 탐사체를 활용하여 자동화된 수질측정 방법은 접근이 어려운 지역에서의 수질측정이 가능하고, 작업자의 안전을 확보할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

반복학습제어기를 이용한 자석식 자동 파이프 절단 로봇의 제어 (Control of Automatic Pipe Cutting Robot with Magnet Binder Using Learning Controller)

  • Tracking control of an automatic pipe cutting robot (APCROMB) is studied. Using magnetic force APCROMB, which is designed and developed in Kyung Hee University, binds itself to the pipe and executes unmanned cutting process. The gravity effect on the movement of APCROMB varies as it rotates around the cylindrical pipe laid in the gravitational field. To maintain a constant velocity and consistent cutting performance against the varying gravitational effect, the authors adopt a multi-rate repetitive learning controller (MRLC), which learns the required effort to cancel the repetitive tracking errors caused by nonlinear effect. In addition to the varying gravity effect other types of nonlinear disturbances including backlash in the driving system and the slip between the wheels of APCROMB and the pipe also cause degradation in the cutting process. In order to identify those nonlinear disturbances the position estimation based on the encoder attached at the motor is not good enough. To identify the absolute angular position of APCROMB the authors propose the angular position estimation based on the signals from a MEMS-type two-axis accelerometer mounted on APCROMB. The tracking performances of APCROMB with a MRLC using the encoder-based position estimation is experimentally measured and results are shown. Also the difference between the encoder-based angular displacement measurement and the accelerometerbased angular displacement measurement is included.

제연구역의 자동 차압센서 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Automatic Pressure Differential Sensor Development of Smoke Control Zone)

  • 본 연구에서는 온도가 보상된 대기압을 제연구역의 기준압력으로 설정하기 위한 공학적인 메커니즘과 보상방법을 정렵하였고, 차압센서의 개발을 위한 프로세스, 알고리즘 확립과 엔지니어링 데이터 구축으로 신뢰성이 확보된 차압센서를 개발하였다. 차압센서를 개발함으로서, 첫째, 비제연구역의 압력측정을 위해서 별도로 설치되는 압력측정관을 생략할 수 있어 제작단가와 설치비용 및 작업공수를 줄이고, 둘째, 층별 제연구역의 차압측정을 위한 비제연구역의 압력측정포트를 시스템에 일체화함으로서 차압의 정밀도를 향상시킬 수 있으며, 셋째, 기존의 개별제어 방식에서 제연시스템으로부터 중앙집중식 통합관리를 함으로서 보다 정확하고 신뢰성 있는 차압을 얻을 수 있고, 시스템에 유연성을 부과시킬 수 있을 것으로 본다. 또한 통합 제연시스템의 기틀을 마련하고 제연의 유연성을 주며 방재성능을 향상시킬 것으로 본다.

레이다 센서 기반 실시간 유량 측정 및 홍수 예측 시스템 연구 (Research on Real-time Flow Rate Measurement and Flood Forecast System Based on Radar Sensors)

  • 최근 정부는 SOC디지털화 계획의 하나로 스마트 물관리 및 홍수 예방을 위해 배수시설 자동·원격제어체계를 국가하천 57%에 도입(1,800억원)하고 실시간 모니터링체계(300억원)를 구축하며, 댐 11개소에 빅데이터를 기반으로 한 스마트 댐 안전관리 체계(150억원)를 마련할 계획입니다. 이러한 스마트 물관리 및 홍수 예방을 위해서는 하천의 실시간 유속 측정을 통해 중간단면법을 적용하여 유량을 정확히 계산할 수 있는 시스템의 연구가 필요합니다. 이러한 시스템의 구현과 정확도를 높이기 위해서 가장 중요한 것은 실시간 유속 측정의 정확도를 확보하는 것입니다. 현재 실시간 유속 측정을 위해 미국, 유럽 등의 전자파 표면 유속 측정용 레이다 센서를 도입하여 시스템에 적용하고 있으나 고가의 가격, 유속 측정 범위의 한계 및 기술 지원 미흡 등의 문제로 인해 시스템의 개선 요구가 지속되고 있는 상황입니다. 따라서 실시간 유속 측정을 위한 전자파 표면 유속 측정용 레이다 센서를 자체 개발하여 개선된 유량 측정 및 홍수 예측 시스템을 제시하고자 합니다.

  • In general, there has been a lot of research concerned about the gear noise known to be proportional to gear transmission error for external gears likewise spur, helical gear, and hypoid gears. But, In the case of planetary gear set, gear noise study is insufficient because of the difficulty of designing, manufacturing, and understanding of the its mechanical system. This study is aimed to develop the transmission error measurement equipment for the planetary gear sets used in the automatic transmission. By comparing the results of the transmission error and noise objectively, user could select the optimized planetary gear set which has quiet noise level before manufacturing the automatic transmission.

Personal Identification Based on Radio Signal Strength for Ubiquitous Healthcare Systems

  • Personal identification is essential for the automatic measurement of biosignal information in home healthcare systems. Personal identification is usually achieved with passive radio frequency identification (RFID), which does little more than store a unique identification number. However, passive RFID is not ideal for automatic identification. We present a user identification system based on radio signal strength indication (RSSI) using ZigBee for active RFID tags. Personal identification is achieved by finding the largest RSSI value from aggregated beacon messages that are periodically transmitted by active RFID tags carried by users. Obtaining reliable person!'.! identification without restricting the orientation requires a certain distance between the closest active RFID tag from the ZED and the second closest tag. The results show that the closest active RFID tag from the ZED and the second closest tag must be at least 70 cm apart to achieve reliable personal identification.
