  • Since the inception of fuzzy control, lots of methods to design fuzzy controller have been reported, However, it is admitted that these methods are tailored to special problems and cannot be used in general control situation. Therefore this paper proposes auromatic generation algorithm of fuzzy control system and develops an automatic fuzzy controller generator. For that purpose, the genetic algorithm is used and it searches for the optimal parameters to design the fuzzy controller

  • AVR(Automatic Voltage Regulator) of exciter control system in AC generator controls voltage and current according to load and terminal voltage variations in order to remain at the bus voltage. The output characteristics of main generator is dependent on the control performance of AVR. This paper presents the PWM type exciter system with transient response compensator for robust control of load variations. Additional transient response compensator generates compensation signal for load variation. So the proposed excitation control system has fast dynamic response in transient period and can control terminal voltage constantly. The proposed method is verified by the computer simulation and experimental results in prototype generation system.

  • Terminal voltage of the Automatic Voltage Regulator(AVR) of brushless synchronous generator is generally being controlled by PID Control way in shore and ship field. However, in case of changeable large load on power system, PID control method is deficiency to respond output voltage with settling time. Hence, taking into consideration this situation, it is required new control method. In this thesis, we propose Fuzzy Logic Control(FLC) which has more optimal robust control way in order to respond varying values of terminal voltage to the brushless synchronous generator through simulation of MATLAB/SIMULINK and prove Fuzzy logic control more optimal compared with PID control.

  • Automatic control equipment in hydro power plant, such as turbine governor or automatic voltage regulator have to act promptly against for variation of power system, so it is necessary to check and test continuously. During last five years, the performance test of automatic control equipment was performed about 20 units of hydro turbine generator. In this process, because it has complex connection and before calibration, signal conditioner was developed as an auxiliary equipment for performance test. It includes function of signal amplifier, transducer, and meters. As a result of use this equipment for electric governor test at soyang-gang hydro power plant, it was possible to find output data equal to old one.

  • A new approach for the automatic elimination of free edges in the finite element model for the analysis of sheet metal forming processes is presented. In general, the raw finite element model constructed from an automatic mesh generator is not well suited for the direct use in the downstream forming analysis due to the many free edges which requires tedious time consuming interactive graphic operations of the users. In the present study, a general method for the automatic elimination of free edges is proposed by introducing a CAD/CAE hybrid method. In the method a trimmed parametric surface is generated to fill the holes which are orginated from the free edges by using the one step elastic finite element analysis. In addition, mesh generation algorithm is suggested which can be used in the general trimmed surface. In order to verify the validity of the proposed method, various examples including actual automobile sheet metal parts are given and discussed.

  • In this paper, an automatic functional inspection system EVT (Emulated Vision Tester) for LCD drive module PCB has been proposed and implemented. Typical automatic inspection system such as probing methods and vision-based systems are widely known and used, however, there exist undetectable defects due to critical timing factors which they may miss to catch from LCD equipments. Especially typical vision-based systems have inconsistency on acquisition of images so that distinction between gray scales can be difficult which results in low level of performance and reliability on the inspection results. The proposed EVT system is pure hardware solution. It directly compares pattern signals from a pattern generator to output signals from LCD drive module. It also inspects variety of analog signals such as voltage, resistance, wave forms and so forth. The EVT system not only shows high performance in terms of reliability and processing speed but reduces costs on inspection and maintenance. Also, full automation of entire production line can be realized when EVT is applied in in-line inspection processes.

  • Type of Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) can be divided into Analog and Digital Type. Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) of the synchronous generators of the brushless type are to be reduced to the voltage fluctuation on the basis of the total load. The PID control method is a general control technique is commonly widely used. In this study, the control target parameter iPID does not reset the parameters of the controller for the variable (Intelligent PID) using the controller synchronous generator Digital automatic voltage to you like all applied to the adjusting device (AVR) the voltage change is small, improved responsiveness was studied in this controller.

  • During the past several years, the major interests of car manufacturers in development of automatic transmission were in durability and shift quality. However, a large number of researches for improving shift quality that are based on dynamic characteristics of shifting mechanism have been rarely adopted in the developing process because it is quite difficult to predict the shifting performance from the dynamics simulation. One of the important reasons for the difference between simulation results and experiments arises from the automatic transmission hydraulic system that consists of many valves with high order model and shows a lot different dynamics to temperature variation. In this work, hardware-in-the-loop simulation system for automatic transmission was developed f3r improving the accuracy of simulated result by combining the real-time simulation model with the real hydraulic system. The real-time simulation for automatic transmission model excluding hydraulic system is executed with TI's TMS320C31 DSP and the interfacing board which includes 12bit A/D, PWM signal generator and driver, serial driver ,etc is designed for acquiring the simulation data and signal interface with hydraulic system. We verified the proper operation and correctness of shifting result by comparing the off-line simulation result with that of HILS and experimental result which was performed on transmission dynamometer driven by electric motor.

Application of Self-Organizing Fuzzy Logic Controller to Nuclear Steam Generator Level Control

  • In this paper, the self-organizing fuzzy logic controller is developed for water level control of steam generator. In comparison with conventional fuzzy logic controllers, this controller performs control task with no control rules at initial and creates control rules as control behavior goes on, and also modifies its control structure when uncertain disturbance is suspected. Selected parameters in the fuzzy logic controller are updated on-line by the gradient descent loaming algorithm based on the performance cost function. This control algorithm is applied to water level control of steam generator model developed by Lee, et al. The computer simulation results confirm good performance of this control algorithm in all power ranges. This control algorithm can be expected to be used for automatic control of feedwater control system in the nuclear power plant with digital instrumentation and control systems.

  • One set of rotor coils is required per each large generator rotor assembly, Rotors consist of two directly opposing poles. Each pole requires from 5 to 9 coils. Each coil is made up of two halves identified on the connection end. These coil halves will be joined together by butt brazing process during subsequent rotor assembly. Each half coil is made up of typically 4 to 9 layers of copper conductors. Because of Generator rotor is rotated very high speed with 3,600RPM, the quality soundness of brazed joints is very important at each coil. But, it is very difficult to be optimized non-destructive evaluation, because c-coil has the long shape and evaluation is to be done assembled condition. In this paper introduce newly developed inspection process and acceptance standards for the ultrasonic inspection of " C" coil butt braze. This inspection system is a semi-automatic ultrasonic flaw detector with data acquisition and retention capable of assessing the relative lack of bond of brazed butt joints
