  • Objective : To determine the relationships between customer's attitude, the subjective norm and the intention to use hospital-based health promotion services. Methods : This study was based on the theory of reasoned action, suggested by Fishbein and Ajzen. The subjects of this study were 501 residents of Seoul, Bun-dang, Il-san and Pyung-chon city, under 65 years, who were stratified by sex and age. A covariance structural analysis was used to identify the structural relationships between attitude towards health promotion programs or services, their subjective norm and their intention to use the aforementioned services. Results : The subjective norm for using the health promotion programs or services provided by hospitals was a significant predictor of the intention to use, but the attitude towards the services was not significant Conclusions : Our results suggest that a customer's reference group affects their use of the hospital-based health promotion services. Because the subjects of this study were restricted to specific urban areas, there are limitations to generalizing the study results. Despite the limitations of these results, they can serve as baseline information for the understanding of consumers behavior toward hospital-based health promotion services.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify knowledge about asthma, attitude to asthma, and empathy for children with asthma as held by university of education students, and to examine the relation between these variables and factors that influence them. Methods: Participants were 347 third and fourth year students from a national university of education in G city. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficients, ANOVA and Tukey test with SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: The score for participants' knowledge about asthma was 0.53 out of a possible 1, for empathy, 3.63 out of a possible 5, and for attitude towards asthma, 3.33 points of a possible 5. The attitude towards asthma showed significant differences according to year, satisfaction with major, and satisfaction with practice teaching. Knowledge about asthma and empathy showed a positive correlation with attitudes to children with asthma. Year and Knowledge about asthma, and empathy showed a significant influence on attitudes to children with asthma. Conclusion: Results of this study indicate that development of appropriate knowledge and empathy in students in a university of education should lead to positive attitudes to children with asthma. This development could be enhanced with structured and on-going education about asthma.

  • This study investigated the effects of values towards Korea fair trade coffee consumers upon attitudes and behavioral intentions and verified the moderating effects of ethical consumption consciousness between relationships among values, attitudes and behavioral intentions. A total of 283 data were analyzed for consumers of fair trade coffee residing in Seoul. Structural equation models were used to identify the relationship between the variables. As a result of the analysis, Schwartz (1994)'s 30 value items were factored into four areas: openness to change, self-enhancement, conservation, and self-transcendence. The value of 'self-transcendence' showed a significant positive impact on attitudes toward fair trade coffee, whereas 'openness to change' had a significant negative impact. Positive attitude toward fair trade coffee showed a significant impact on intentions to buy fair trade coffee. In addition, a moderating effect of ethical consumption consciousness between attitude and behavioral intention was found. Limitations and future research directions are also discussed.

  • Purpose Based on consumers' economic, psychological, self-development and conversion costs, this study discusses the relationship between consumers' negative attitude to their shadow work during the course of using self-service in unmanned supermarkets and their behavior. Design/methodology/approach Along with the Hirschman(1970)'s EVLN(Exit, Voice, Loyalty, and Neglect) reviewed, the proposed model of this study is based on the S-O-R model(Mehrabian and Russel, 1974) and mental accounting theory(Thaler, 1999), having empirical validation. Findings In the process of visits and consumption in unmanned supermarkets, increasing economic and psychological benefits can effectively reduce consumers' negative attitudes towards shadow work. In addition, the increase in switching costs will also effectively reduce consumers' negative attitudes towards shadow work. When shadow work holds a negative attitude, all the three kinds of actions will occur. Unmanned supermarket operators use consumers to create value while giving a certain return to them, which is conducive to the sustainable development of unmanned supermarket enterprises.

  • This endeavor is an attempt to explore the effect of flipped classroom strategy (FCS) on (a) academic achievement in the computer and information technology course and (b) students' attitudes towards this strategy. The sample of the study consisted of 64 students, divided into two groups: experimental and control groups. Two instruments were used to collect the data: a test and a questionnaire. The test was used to measure the students' achievement and the questionnaire to measure their attitudes towards the FCS. The results show statistically significant differences at the level of 0.05 in support of the experimental group at all Bloom's levels. Similarly, students' positive attitude towards the FCS was evident. Therefore, expanding this strategy in different courses is highly recommended because it positively impacts students' achievements. Organizing workshops and designing courses that encourage teachers to implement the strategy in the classroom and develop their technical skills are also recommended.
