Development of Real-Time Vision Aided Navigation Using EO/IR Image Information of Tactical Unmanned Aerial System in GPS Denied Environment (GPS 취약 환경에서 전술급 무인항공기의 주/야간 영상정보를 기반으로 한 실시간 비행체 위치 보정 시스템 개발)

  • In this study, a real-time Tactical UAS position compensation system based on image information developed to compensate for the weakness of location navigation information during GPS signal interference and jamming / spoofing attack is described. The Tactical UAS (KUS-FT) is capable of automatic flight by switching the mode from GPS/INS integrated navigation to DR/AHRS when GPS signal is lost. However, in the case of location navigation, errors accumulate over time due to dead reckoning (DR) using airspeed and azimuth which causes problems such as UAS positioning and data link antenna tracking. To minimize the accumulation of position error, based on the target data of specific region through image sensor, we developed a system that calculates the position using the UAS attitude, EO/IR (Electric Optic/Infra-Red) azimuth and elevation and numerical map data and corrects the calculated position in real-time. In addition, function and performance of the image information based real-time UAS position compensation system has been verified by ground test using GPS simulator and flight test in DR mode.

  • Space-borne Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) has been one of the most effective tools for monitoring quantitative oceanographic physical parameters. The Doppler information recorded in single-channel SAR raw data can be useful in estimating moving velocity of water mass in ocean. The Doppler shift is caused by the relative motion between SAR sensor and the water mass of ocean surface. Thus, the moving velocity can be extracted by measuring the Doppler anomaly between extracted Doppler centroid and predicted Doppler centroid. The predicted Doppler centroid, defined as the Doppler centroid assuming that the target is not moving, is calculated based on the geometric parameters of a satellite, such as the satellite's orbit, look angle, and attitude with regard to the rotating Earth. While the estimated Doppler shift, corresponding to the actual Doppler centroid in the situation of real SAR data acquisition, can be extracted directly from raw SAR signal data, which usually calculated by applying the Average Cross Correlation Coefficient(ACCC). The moving velocity was further refined to obtain ocean surface current by subtracting the phase velocity of Bragg-resonant capillary waves. These methods were applied to Envisat ASAR raw data acquired in the East Sea, and the extracted ocean surface currents were compared with the current measured by HF-radar.

Improvement of Accuracy on Dynamic Position Determination Using Combined DGPS/IMU (DGPS/IMU 결합에 의한 동적위치결정의 정확도 향상)

  • This study conducted an initialization test to decide dynamic position using AHRS IMU sensor, and derived attitude correction angles of vehicles against time through regression analysis. It was also found that the heading angle was stabilized with variation less than 1°after 60 seconds. Using these angles, this study carried out an experiment on the determination of dynamic position for each system in the open sky and in a semi-open sky. According to the results, in the open sky, DGPS alone systems were excellent in accuracy but poor in data acquisition, so the moving distance was around 12m. In DGPS/IMU combined system, accuracy and data acquisition were satisfactory and the moving distance was around 0.3m. In a semi-open sky, DGPS alone systems were excellent in accuracy in order of DGPS < FIMU < DGPS/IMU according to average and standard errors obtained with exclusion of places where data were not be obtained. The moving distance was the same as that in the open sky. For DGPS, when places where data were not obtainable were divided into Several block and they were compared, the maximum deviation from the trajectory was up to 41.5m in DGPS alone system, but it was less than 2.2m and average and standard errors were significantly improved in the combined system. When the navigation system was applied to surveys and the result was compared with position error 0.2mm under the guideline for digital map, it was possible to work on maps on a scale of up to 1 : 1,000.

  • This paper is to technically implement the sensing platform for Home-Wellness Robot. First, self-localization technique is based on a smart home and object in a home environment, and IOT(Internet of Thing) between Home Wellness Robots. RF tag is set in a smart home and the absolute coordinate information is acquired by a object included RF reader. Then bluetooth communication between object and home wellness robot provides the absolute coordinate information to home wellness robot. After that, the relative coordinate of home wellness robot is found and self-localization through a stereo camera in a home wellness robot. Second, this paper proposed fuzzy control methode based on a vision sensor for approach object of home wellness robot. Based on a stereo camera equipped with face of home wellness robot, depth information to the object is extracted. Then figure out the angle difference between the object and home wellness robot by calculating a warped angle based on the center of the image. The obtained information is written Look-Up table and makes the attitude control for approaching object. Through the experimental with home wellness robot and the smart home environment, confirm performance about the proposed self-localization and posture control method respectively.

Ship Positioning Using Multi-Sensory Data for a UAV Based Marine Surveillance (무인항공기 기반 해양 감시를 위한 멀티센서 데이터를 활용한 선박 위치 결정)

  • Every year in the ocean, various accidents occur frequently and illegal fishing is rampant. Moreover, their size and frequency are also increasing. In order to reduce losses of life or property caused by these, it is necessary to have a means to perform remote monitoring quickly. As an effective platform of such monitoring means, an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is receiving the spotlight. In these situations where marine accidents or illegal fishing occur, main targets of monitoring are ships. In this study, we propose a UAV based ship monitoring system and suggest a method of determining ship positions using UAV multi-sensory data. In the proposed method, firstly, the position and attitude of individual images are determined by using the pre-performed system calibration results and GPS/INS data obtained at the time when images were acquired. In addition, after the ship being detected automatically or semi-automatically from the individual images, the absolute coordinates of the detected ships are determined. The proposed method was applied to actual data measured at 200 m, 350 m, and 500 m altitude, the ship position can be determined with accuracy of 4.068 m, 8.916 m, and 13.734 m, respectively. According to the minimum standard of a hydrographical survey, the ship positioning results of 200 m and 350 m data satisfy grade S and the results of 500 m data do grade 1a, where the accuracy is required for positioning the coastline and topography less significant to navigation order. Therefore, it is expected that the proposed method can be effectively used for various purposes of marine monitoring or surveying.

  • GPR (Ground Penetrating RADAR) is a sensor that inspects the pavement state of roads, sinkholes, and underground pipes. It is widely used in road management. MMS (Mobile Mapping System) creates a detailed and accurate road map of the road surface and its surroundings. If both types of data are built in the same area, it is efficient to construct both ground and underground spatial information at the same time. In addition, since it is possible to grasp the road and important facilities around the road, the location of underground pipelines, etc. without special technology, an intuitive understanding of the site is also possible, which is a useful tool in managing the road or facilities. However, overseas equipment to which this latest technology is applied is expensive and does not fit the domestic situation. LiDAR (Light Detection And Raging) and GNSS/INS (Global Navigation Satellite System / Inertial Navigation System) were synchronized in order to replace overseas developed equipment and to secure original technology to develop domestic equipment in the future, and GPR data was also synchronized to the same GNSS/INS. We developed software that performs georeferencing using the location and attitude information from GNSS/INS at the time of acquiring synchronized GPR data. The experiments were conducted on the road site by dividing the open sky and the non-open sky. The road and surrounding facilities on the ground could be easily checked through the 3D point cloud data acquired through LiDAR. Georeferenced GPR data could also be viewed with a 3D viewer along with point cloud data, and the location of underground facilities could be easily and quickly confirmed through GPR data.

Individual Ortho-rectification of Coast Guard Aerial Images for Oil Spill Monitoring (유출유 모니터링을 위한 해경 항공 영상의 개별정사보정)

  • Accidents in which oil spills occur intermittently in the ocean due to ship collisions and sinkings. In order to prepare prompt countermeasures when such an accident occurs, it is necessary to accurately identify the current status of spilled oil. To this end, the Coast Guard patrols the target area with a fixed-wing airplane or helicopter and checks it with the naked eye or video, but it was difficult to determine the area contaminated by the spilled oil and its exact location on the map. Accordingly, this study develops a technology for direct ortho-rectification by automatically geo-referencing aerial images collected by the Coast Guard without individual ground reference points to identify the current status of spilled oil. First, meta information required for georeferencing is extracted from a visualized screen of sensor information such as video by optical character recognition (OCR). Based on the extracted information, the external orientation parameters of the image are determined. Images are individually orthorectified using the determined the external orientation parameters. The accuracy of individual orthoimages generated through this method was evaluated to be about tens of meters up to 100 m. The accuracy level was reasonably acceptable considering the inherent errors of the position and attitude sensors, the inaccuracies in the internal orientation parameters such as camera focal length, without using no ground control points. It is judged to be an appropriate level for identifying the current status of spilled oil contaminated areas in the sea. In the future, if real-time transmission of images captured during flight becomes possible, individual orthoimages can be generated in real time through the proposed individual orthorectification technology. Based on this, it can be effectively used to quickly identify the current status of spilled oil contamination and establish countermeasures.

Aircraft Velocity and Altitude Estimation through Time Offset Calculation of KOMPSAT-3 Satellite (KOMPSAT-3 위성의 Time Offset 계산을 통한 항공기 속력 및 고도 추정)

  • In this study, a method of estimating the velocity and altitude of aircrafts photographed in a KOMPSAT-3 satellite was proposed. In the proposed method, parallax effect, which is a time offset between bands due to the photographing method of the KOMPSAT-3 satellite, the structure of the sensor, and the movement of the satellite's orbit, was calculated, and in this process, trucks running on the highway were used. In addition, the actual direction and the direction by parallax effect of the aircraft were calculated using the coordinates of the aircraft in the image, and the attitude information of the KOMPSAT-3 satellite was calculated using metadata to estimate the velocity and altitude of the aircraft. The estimated value through the proposed method was compared with the actual value, automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B), and the error rate was calculated here. As a result, it was confirmed that the velocity and altitude error rate of large aircraft (I1, I3, S2) were lower than that of light aircraft (I2, S2), and the estimated velocity and altitude were relatively high in large aircraft using the proposed method.

In modern times, due to the development of technology and the improvement of the online environment, the probability that simple labor tasks will disappear after 10 years is close to 90%. Even in domestic research, it is predicted that 'simple labor jobs' will disappear due to the influence of advanced technology with a probability of about 36%. there is. In particular, as the demand for non-face-to-face services increases due to the Corona 19 virus, which is recently spreading globally, the trend of introducing kiosks has accelerated, and the global market will grow to 83.5 billion won in 2021, showing an average annual growth rate of 8.9%. there is. However, due to the unmanned nature of these kiosks, some consumers still have difficulties in using them, and consumers who are not familiar with the use of these technologies have a negative attitude towards service co-producers due to rejection of non-face-to-face services and anxiety about service errors. Lack of understanding leads to role conflicts between sales clerks and consumers, or inequality is being created in terms of service provision and generations accustomed to using technology. In addition, since kiosk is a representative technology-based self-service industry, if the user feels uncomfortable or requires additional labor, the overall service value decreases and the growth of the kiosk industry itself can be suppressed. Therefore, interviews were conducted on the main points of direct use with actual users centered on display color scheme, text size, device design, device size, internal UI (interface), amount of information, recognition sensor (barcode, NFC, etc.), Display brightness, self-event, and reaction speed items were extracted. Afterwards, using the questionnaire, the Kano model quality attribute classification of each expected evaluation item was carried out, and Timko's customer satisfaction coefficient, which can be calculated with accurate numerical values The PCSI Index analysis was additionally performed to determine the improvement priorities by finally classifying the improvement impact of the kiosk expected evaluation items through research. As a result, the impact of improvement appears in the order of internal UI (interface), text size, recognition sensor (barcode, NFC, etc.), reaction speed, self-event, display brightness, amount of information, device size, device design, and display color scheme. Through this, we intend to contribute to a comprehensive comparison of kiosk-based research in each field and to set the direction for improvement in the venture industry.

K-DEV: A Borehole Deviation Logging Probe Applicable to Steel-cased Holes (철재 케이싱이 설치된 시추공에서도 적용가능한 공곡검층기 K-DEV)

  • We designed a borehole deviation survey tool applicable for steel-cased holes, K-DEV, and developed a prototype for a depth of 500 m aiming to development of own equipment required to secure deep subsurface characterization technologies. K-DEV is equipped with sensors that provide digital output with verified high performance; moreover, it is also compatible with logging winch systems used in Korea. The K-DEV prototype has a nonmagnetic stainless steel housing with an outer diameter of 48.3 mm, which has been tested in the laboratory for water resistance up to 20 MPa and for durability by running into a 1-km deep borehole. We confirmed the operational stability and data repeatability of the prototype by constantly logging up and down to the depth of 600 m. A high-precision micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) gyroscope was used for the K-DEV prototype as the gyro sensor, which is crucial for azimuth determination in cased holes. Additionally, we devised an accurate trajectory survey algorithm by employing Unscented Kalman filtering and data fusion for optimization. The borehole test with K-DEV and a commercial logging tool produced sufficiently similar results. Furthermore, the issue of error accumulation due to drift over time of the MEMS gyro was successfully overcome by compensating with stationary measurements for the same attitude at the wellhead before and after logging, as demonstrated by the nearly identical result to the open hole. We believe that the methodology of K-DEV development and operational stability, as well as the data reliability of the prototype, were confirmed through these test applications.
