In this paper a local remeshing technique assisted by user-interface capabiities is presented for precise forging simulation. The rigid-plastic finite element formulation is introduced and the basic approach to the new local remeshing technique is presented. A piercing process in cold forging is simulated by the presented technique and the results are compared in detail.

Postpneumonectomy empyema is a life-threatening complication, which is often related with a bronchopleural fistula. After surgical repair of fistula, sterilization of infected pleural cavity is important and usually carried out by long-term cyclic irrigation. We report a case in which vacuum-assisted closure device was successfully applied to sterilize the pleural cavity and obliterate bronchopleural fistula.

In Smart mobile devices embedding big.LITTLE architectures, the conventional multi-core assignment scheme for user applications may incur wasteful energy consumption and long response time. In this paper, we propose a user experience assisted energy-efficient multicore assignment scheme. Our simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves at 40% less energy consumption and at 20% less response time comparing to the legacy scheme.

In this study, the tribological and thermal properties of TiAlCN coatings were investigated to evaluate their feasibility in automobile applications. TiAlCN coatings with carbon compositions between 25 and 65 at.% were prepared by inductively coupled plasma (ICP) assisted sputtering and were annealed at 400, 500, and $600^{\circ}C$ in air.

The coupling properties of supermodes guided by grating-assisted directional couplers (GADCs) can be phrased in rigorous modal theory. Such a modal solution for TE modes expressed by simple electrical transmission-line networks is utilized to analyze the power distribution of GADCS with three guiding channels. In particular, the modal transmission-line theory can serve as a template for computational algorithms that systematically evaluate the coupling efficiency that are not readily obtained by other methods.

Although hemangiomas are common vascular tumors that can occur anywhere in the body, they seldom involve the gastrointestinal tract. Hemangiomas of the gastrointestinal tract in infants and children are rare benign vascular tumors that most commonly present with gastrointestinal bleeding. We describe here the case of 2-year-old boy with intestinal bleeding caused by a large jejunal cavernous hemangioma, which was treated by laparoscopy-assisted resection of the affected portion of the jejunum.

Until now, Industrial robotic sa(ety problems are not considered as a indust rial safety problems. In order to reduce industrial robotic safety problem, analyzing problem, risk control, and developing industrial robotic standard s are necessary. In this study, SAFEMIR(Safety Management for Industrial Robotic) is developed for preventing mul-function in industrial robotics. This system is consisted of Da ta Base Management System Module and Expert System Module which Is a part of Articial In telligence. Borland C++ and Foxpro 2.0 are used for implementing this system.

Newly developed modal transmission-line theory(MTLT) is used to analyze rigorously the optical power distribution in grating-assisted directional couplers(GADCs) with three guiding channels. By defining a novel coupling efficiency ${\eta}$ amenable to the rigorous analytical solutions of modal transmission-line theory, we explicitly evaluate the power coupling and distribution of TM modes. The results reveal that the incident power is sensitively partitioned through three output channels in terms of such grating parameters as the grating period, the duty cycle, and the operating wavelength.

Recently we performed video-assisted thoracoscopic[VAT] examination and bullectomy under local anesthesia. Of the 10 patients undergoing VAT examination under local anesthesia with primary spontaneous pneumothorax, 8 patients underwent VAT bullectomy under local anesthesia using endo-GIA; 7 patients discharged within 24 hours after operation; 1 patient had an air leak after operation, so chemical pleurodesis with doxycycline was performed and discharged postoperative day 3. There have been no recurrence to date[60-120 days after operation]. We think spontaneous pneumothorax can be treated on an out-patient basis.
