Intelligent Soft Driving System for an Electric Four-wheeled Vehicle Eluding Dynamic Obstacles

  • There are electric four-wheeled vehicles to assist elder people. Because of the vehicles'dynamic characteristic such as impossible to move abeam, it is difficult for these people who has little experience and has little knowledge to drive. Also to judge the future state of dynamic obstacles and to decide how to elude them safely are more difficult. We installed the predictive fuzzy controller(evaluates the future states which several kinds of operation candidates were done and chooses the best one) that modeled humans'algorithms in the system. Human predicts the future states of dynamic obstacles and chooses an operation(wait, steer, go back, etc) to elude safely. To elude dynamic obstacles flexibly, we added expert's knowledge for safe driving to this controller. In this paper, we propose the intelligent soft driving system by the controller that can elude dynamic obstacles safely, and we confirm the effectiveness by a simulation.

Study on the Priority Decision for Redevelopment of Agricultural Reservoir (농업용저수지 재개발 우선순위 결정 연구)

  • Most of agricultural reservoirs in Korea have no function of flood control except 5% of reservoirs even exposed to natural disaster. In addition, there are increasing needs for the reservoir to guarantee the release of environmental flow to the downstream. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to study the priority decision method for the reservoir redevelopment satisfying both water utilization and flood control. The major scopes of this research are to set up six priority indices and to make needed GIS data for calculating each priority. There is important consideration of obtaining the data or not in deciding the indices. Although the detailed indices is expected to better reflect redevelopment priority but the subjective indices like, 'opinion' and 'landscape' are excluded. From the results, it will enables the six priority indices to really assist in decision redevelopment priority of agricultural reservoirs.

  • Robots are required to assist our activities in daily life. In this paper, we focus on arm movement to catch moving object as one of important tasks frequently performed by human. We propose an algorithm which enables a robot to perform human-like arm motion to catch a moving object. First we analyze human hand trajectories and velocity profiles to catch an object. From the experimental results, we extract some characteristics in the process of approaching and following a moving object and confirm that these are necessary to realize human-like motion. We then adopt an instantaneous optimal control method which evaluates the error and energy cost at each sampling step, and design two time-varying weight matrices to introduce human characteristic into robot motion. A controller comprising tail wing control of a hybrid autonomous underwater vehicle for use as an underwater glider

  • A controller for an underwater glider is presented. Considered underwater glider is a torpedo-shaped autonomous underwater vehicle installing adjustable buoyancy bag and movable battery in it. The controller is composed of an LQR controller to maintain zigzag vertical movement for gliding and two PD controllers to control elevator/rudder angles. The LQR controller controls the pumping speed into the buoyancy bag and the moving speed to locate the battery. One of the PD controller controls the elevator angle to assist the LQR controller, and the other controls the rudder angle to adjust the direction of the underwater glider. A reduced order Luenberger observer is adopted to estimates the center of gravity of the glider and the buoyancy mass that are essential but cannot be measured. Mathematical simulation using Matlab proved the validity of the proposed controller to obtain better performance than conventional LQR only controller under the influence of sea current.

  • There are two main problems in the current PLC ladder programming practices: First, currently there are no widely adopted systematic design methods to deal with PLC based control systems in the shop floor. So, the control logic design phase is usually omitted in current PLC programming development life cycle. Second, PLC ladder logic provides only microscopic view of system processes. As a result, it is difficult for FA engineers to have overall perspectives about the interaction of system components intuitively during the verification step of logic errors. To solve these problems, this paper proposed object-oriented design and automatic generation method of PLC ladder logic. Based on the proposed method, the computer software to assist the automatic ladder logic generation is also developed.

  • Objective : The Purpose of this study was to investigate the Yangseng-method in Tumor, to know how to help the patients from the disease. Method : In order to know the relations between Yangseng and disease, various books and reports are investigated. And the results as follows. Conclusions : According to the traditonal medical theory, Oriental medicine focused on Yangseng(養生). And it is able to resist the disease and adapt to the environment and assist the healing of the body. And it is in harmony with Qi-circulation, so smoothing the circulation of meridians, strengthened Essentialmaterial, Qi, Sprit. Yangseng can be effective for cancer patients to control mind and improve self-confidence and is helpful of preventation of disease and mental health. Especially Mind-control of Yangseng is more important of all.

Intelligent Lighting Control using Wireless Sensor Networks for Media Production

  • We present the design and implementation of a unique sensing and actuation application -- the Illuminator: a sensor network-based intelligent light control system for entertainment and media production. Unlike most sensor network applications, which focus on sensing alone, a distinctive aspect of the Illuminator is that it closes the loop from light sensing to lighting control. We describe the Illuminator's design requirements, system architecture, algorithms, implementation and experimental results. The system uses the Illumimote, a multi-modal and high fidelity light sensor module well-suited for wireless sensor networks, to satisfy the high-performance light sensing requirements of entertainment and media production applications. The Illuminator system is a toolset to characterize the illumination profile of a deployed set of fixed position lights, generate desired lighting effects for moving targets (actors, scenic elements, etc.) based on user constraints expressed in a formal language, and to assist in the set up of lights to achieve the same illumination profile in multiple venues. After characterizing deployed lights, the Illuminator computes optimal light settings at run-time to achieve a user-specified actuation profile, using an optimization framework based on a genetic algorithm. Uniquely, it can use deployed sensors to incorporate changing ambient lighting conditions and moving targets into actuation. Experimental results demonstrate that the Illuminator handles various high-level user requirements and generates an optimal light actuation profile. These results suggest that the Illuminator system supports entertainment and media production applications.

  • Domestic Foreign automaker's are focused on the high-efficiency, low emission cars development. On the way, the hybrid car is the first priority. Hybrid electric vehicle battery pack configurations, EV Relay one of the key components of the engine driving, to assist in the drive motor to supply electrical energy to the battery is a device for opening and closing of the output device. EV Relay determine the longevity and the replacement cycle, The EV Relay environmental conditions and duty cycle considering the reliability tests are essential requirements of many automotive companies to respond to RFQ, this test is essential. This paper using Maxwell Software for Prediction of the Ev Relay impulse, the theoretical data to obtain the impulse to develop methods for mechanical testing after to take advantage of it.

  • This paper is primarily intended to propose a new concept of "aggregate control of road density" which is defined as the area-wide road surface per watershed area. An empirical study for experimental sites was conducted to confirm how a standard GIS technology can be used to assist in estimating the road density in terms of total volume threshold control. Guidelines for a replicable methodology are presented to provide a strong theoretical basis for the standardization of factors involved in the estimation of the road space threshold; the meaningful classification of road types, delination of watershed boundary, interpretation for distribution trends of road density etc. A variety of visual maps using overlay analysis can be generated over large areas quickly and easily to show the fact that some degree of road space already exists in the experimental sites. They could be used as an evidence to limit further construction of road network in comparison with other tributary watershed. It is anticipated that this research output could be used as a valuable reference to confirm the potential of introducing the new concept of "site specific road density" to support more scientific and objective decision-making in the process of road construction project.

Analysis of Cascaded H-Bridge Multilevel Inverter in DTC-SVM Induction Motor Drive for FCEV

  • In this paper, analysis of cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter in DTC-SVM (Direct Torque Control-Space Vector Modulation) based induction motor drive for FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle) is presented. Cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter uses multiple series units of H-bridge power cells to achieve medium-voltage operation and low harmonic distortion. In FCEV, a fuel cell stack is used as the major source of electric power moreover the battery and/or ultra-capacitor is used to assist the fuel cell. These sources are suitable for utilizing in cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter. The drive control strategy is based on DTC-SVM technique. In this scheme, first, stator voltage vector is calculated and then realized by SVM method. Contribution of multilevel inverter to the DTC-SVM scheme is led to achieve high performance motor drive. Simulations are carried out in Matlab-Simulink. Five-level and nine-level inverters are applied in 3hp FCEV induction motor drive for analysis the multilevel inverter. Each H-bridge is implemented using one fuel cell and battery. Good dynamic control and low ripple in the torque and the flux as well as distortion decrease in voltage and current profiles, demonstrate the great performance of multilevel inverter in DTC-SVM induction motor drive for vehicle application.
