  • The acid-bible subunit (ALS) associates with the insulinlike growth factor (IGF)-I or II, and the IGF binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) in order to form a 150-kD complex in the circulation. This complex may regulate the serum IGFs by restricting them in the vascular system and promoting their endocrine actions. Little is known about how ALS binds to IGFBP3, which connects the IGFs to ALS. Xenopus oocyte was utilized to study the function of ALS in assembling IGFs into the ternary complexes. Xenopus oocyte was shown to correctly translate in vitro transcribed mRNAs of ALS and IGFBP3. IGFBP3 and ALS mRNAs were injected in a mixture, and their products were immunoprecipitated by antisera against ALS and IGFBP3. Contrary to traditional reports that ALS interacts only with IGF-bound IGFBP3, this study shows that ALS is capable of forming a binary complex with IGFBP3 in the absence of IGF When cross-linked by disuccinimidyl suberate, the band that represents the ALS-IGFBP3 complex was evident on the PAGE. IGFBP3 movement was monitored according to the distribution between the hemispheres. Following a localized translation in the vegetal hemisphere, IGFBP3 remained in the vegetal half in the presence of ALS. However, the mutant IGFBP3 freely diffused into the animal half, despite the presence of ALS, which is different from the wild type IGFBP3. This study, therefore, suggests that ALS may play an important role in sequestering IGFBP3 polypeptides via the intermolecular aggregation. Studies using this heterologous model will lead to a better understanding of the IGFBP3 and ALS that assemble into the ternary structure and circulate the IGF system.

  • This paper presents dynamic algorithm of the MLS(moving least squares) difference method using first order differential Approximation. The governing equations are only discretized by the first order MLS derivative approximation. The system equation consists of an assembly of the approximate function, so the shape of system equation is similar to FEM(finite element method). The CDM(central difference method) is used for time integration of dynamic equilibrium equation. The natural frequency analyses of the MLS difference method and FEM are performed, and two analysis results are compared. Also, the accuracy of the proposed numerical method is verified by displaying the dynamic analysis results together with the results by the existing second order differential approximation. In the process of assembling the first order MLS derivative approximation, the oscillation error was suppressed and the stress distribution was interpreted as relatively uniform.

  • In order to improve the predictability of marine high-impacts weather such as typhoon and high waves, the marine observation network is an essential because it could be rapidly changed by strong air-sea interaction. In this regard, the National Institute of Meteorological Sciences, Korea Meteorological Administration (NIMS/KMA) has promoted the Argo float observation program since 2001 to participate in the International Argo program. In this study, current status and future direction of the NIMS/KMA Argo program are presented through the internal meeting and external expert forum. To date, a total of 264 Argo floats have been deployed into the offshore around the Korean Peninsula and the Northwestern Pacific Ocean. The real-time and delayed modes quality control (QC) system of Argo data was developed, and an official regional data assembling center (call-sign 'KM') was run. In 2002, the Argo homepage was established for the systematic management and dissemination of Argo data for domestic and international users. The future goal of the NIMS/KMA Argo program is to improve response to the marine high-impacts weather through a marine environment monitoring and observing system. The promotion strategy for this is divided into four areas: strengthening policy communication, developing observation strategies, promoting utilization research, and activating international cooperation.

  • A laser beam propagating in free space can be negatively affected by atmospheric turbulence. To overcome this and correct the wavefront error of the laser beam itself, a deformable mirror (DM), which is a key component of adaptive optics, is widely used. In this paper, a novel precision assembling method is suggested for a multi-channel high-density DM. The material of the mirror sheet of the DM is silicon carbide (SiC), and the actuator is a stacked-type lead-magnesium-niobate (Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3; PMN). To connect the mirror sheet and each actuator, a flexure is inserted. The flexure can make the DM operate with full strokes without the failure of adhesive. A series of jigs were designed and applied in order to assemble these three parts (the mirror sheet, actuators, and flexures) precisely. After assembly, the performance of the DM was also checked.

  • A precast concrete deck system is considered an effective alternative in terms of its rapid construction and quality assurance than cast-in-place concrete deck. In precast concrete deck system, structural performance and serviceability are mostly determined by the connection methods between the precast decks. This research proposes more improved precast deck system with asymmetric ribbed connection details improving the disadvantage of previous precast deck system such as difficulties in assembling precast decks. And in this precast deck system, a separate form is not required at the site because partition wall of the precast decks serves as a form when placing non-shrinkage mortar in the connection part of the precast decks. Therefore, rapid construction is possible. Flexural performance is verified through load tests considering main parameter such as rib length in the precast deck connection. From the test results, it can be inferred that the development of the rebar and prevention of adhesion failure in the partition wall of the precast deck system are important factors in securing the flexural performance. Although the structural performance of the precast deck system with asymmetric connection details is gradually reduced as the rib length in the precast deck connection increases, the proposed precast deck system shows sufficient flexural performance and can be applied to the connection part of precast decks effectively.

  • Today's computing system has expanded its application to business trade and distributed work transactions using the Internet. As the demand for more flexible, adaptable, extensible, and robust web-based enterprise, these application development has been gradually expanded based on reusable, independent, and portable components. Component Based Development (CBD) works by developing and evolving software from selected reusable software components and then assembling them within appropriate software architecture. However, it requires an increase in cost to build new components as well as the necessary effort to develop of the business requirement these components. Standardized component models are required as well from the perspective of systems in order to support rapid and exact component information transmission on the web. In this paper, we describe the e-Business Component Development with agent for rapid application development on the web that correspond to the demands of users in the business domain. We design and implement the specifications of e-business components by combining these demands. In order to improve the agent register and retrieval, we propose the intelligent search and register agents, which can conduct more precise searching and specializing for components. The system enables the locating of user's frequently used components through an agent involving register and retrieval, as well as rapid procedures for registers The e-BCOS (e-Business Component System) is the agent system for the user to register distributed components and to search for components Information. The e-BCOS increases reusability through the e-business component development of distributed components in the business domain. • A gigantic ship is constructed by assembling various types of ship blocks, each block being made by cutting and piecing the steel-plates together. The steel-plate piling process as the initial stage of ship construction sorts and manages the steel-plates according to the ship blocks that the steel-plates are used to make. The steel-plate piling process poses some problems such as process delay due to piling errors, safety vulnerability due to the handling of extra heavy-weight objects, and the uncertainty of work plan due to lack of information management in the pile spaces. We constructed a steel-plate piling process system based on the context-aware computing to resolve such problems. We built simulation system that can simulate the piling process and then established a smart space within the system by using tags, sensors and a real-time location system in order to collect context information. Workers receive an appropriate or intelligent service from the system.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study of the vehicle lamp manufacturing system composing ultrasonic waves connection process. Making lamp assembly plant, it was produced in the separate process as the injection molding, ultrasonic waves bonding, annealing in the constant temperature, lamp assembling and packing. But the improvement method producing the lamp was added with one-step process by one automation technique. As a result, welding with ultrasonic waves process, the method decreased the energy consumption and noise during ultrasonic waves welding. Therefore, this method used the mathematics modeling for checking validity, it selected the stability and suitable controller using transfer function of plant and bode chart. In this study, the $180^{\circ}$ revolution control system to turn injection part upside down was $M_{eq}\;lcos{\theta}(t)$ because of gravity influence. It effected to unstable condition a system. For solving this problem, it aimed the linearization and stabilization of system by elimination $M_{eq}\;lcos{\theta}(t)$ as applying Free-forward control technique.

  • Frank Lloyd Wright(1867-1959) was regarded as the pioneer of the modern architecture in the beginning and transition period of 20th century. His works have the pure shape form which have the deep relationship with the organic architecture. Wright told himself that the Froebel System had an influence on his works a lot. This study have researched about the three dimensional application of the Froebel System in his works with assembling and disassembling. Also the two dimensional application in the diagonal and circular plans are the one of the subjects here. The following conclusions are reached. First, The similar of the Wright's works and the Froebel System was the application of the similar principles rather than the copy of the method, which are the accent of the center, the composition of the part and whole, the understanding of the composition principle through the unit system and the unfolding of the crystal by rotation. Even thought the Wright's works have the triangle, square, hexagonal shape, the way of the expansion from the centered space was same. Also the space formed by the division of the center space, unfolds making the part and whole by overlap and continuation. The 2nd Froebel make space decided by the Net and Crystal Lattices which have the crystal characteristics by the rotation. The new geometric architecture, pinwheel, was created by this method. The application of the Froebel in the Wright's works have the several sets which are the 3th, 4th, 5th, 6th Froebels, 2nd, 7th Froebels and the 3th, 5th, 9th Froebels. The geometrical analysis of the square shape and the diagonal shape of the Wright's works was possible. The unfolding of the centered space can be found in the Guggenheim Museum using the analysis of the circular geometric of the 9th Froebel. The above study proves that the Froebel was not a mere tool for the basic shape training but also the main body of Wright's works which consists of the organic idea and philosophy of the space.
