A Study on the Institutional Aspects of Rural Spatial Planning System (농촌지역 공간계획체계의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The drastic change of spatial structure in rural area and the recent rural development policies(related to settlement reorganization and plot rearrangement) make the rural space planning more important than ever. So this paper tries to evaluate the institutional aspects of rural spatial planning system focused on planning area. land use classification and hierachical order between existing plans. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the rural planning areas are classified into 4-tiers(e.g., Gun, Myon, District, Village). Second, the rural land use planning has 3-tiers(e.g., macro, mediate and micro zoning) from the viewpoint of land use classification system, but it doesn't have mediate-micro zoning system. Third, the spatial plans in rural area, positioned in local planning, were categorized into regional planning system and land use planning system. However there's no linkage between both sides of each hierachial planning order.

  • In this paper we review the papers related to statistical consulting. The three main objectives of the statistical consulting are education, service, and research. It is noticed that not only the statistical aspects but the nonstatistical aspects should be emphasized for the successful statistical consulting. It is concluded that a seperately funded consulting center operated as a division of a department of statistics is the most appropriate way to provide and to quality of education, service, research in the universities.

  • The 3rd generation mobile telecommunication fields are being standardized and developed in two parts, 3GPP and 3GPP2. These two parts have established each Network Architecture Models to achieve the goals basically required in the 3rd generation and to make it progress to IP network in the future. To achieve these goals many system architectures are proposed. Not only functional aspects but also performance aspects are considered as major factors. This paper proposes a new method of performance evaluation modeling and simulation that improved the existing way. The method proposed in this paper is Aspect oriented logical performance analysis Modeling and Simulation method. This proposed method is expected to improve efficiency of performance analysis modeling and simulation on the 3rd generation mobile telecommunication system.

  • High rising of the buildings offers a number of risk factors than ever before with regard to fire prevention. Especially in the construction site of high-rise buildings, people waste golden-time during the evacuation because temporary fire fighting facilities are not installed and transferred to a large fire because of fire suppression failure. In this study, the researcher derives the problems of fire protection in high-rise buildings construction sites and proposed the measures in such the legal aspects as fire building construction code and etc. There are the legal improvements such as orders of construction suspension in the problems of fire safety, appointing fire safety manager, temporary fire protection installation standards, enhancing penalty provisions regarding the use of fire, operating self fire brigade, confirming on-site after completing fire-protection facalities, establishment or strengthening special fire-protection investigations.

  • Today deep drawing and ironing are the major process in manufacturing of battery case used in cellular phone from aluminum. The same technology is utilized in manufacturing of steel or aluminum cans for components of medical instrument, portable PC, walkman and so on. Most of these processes require multi-stage ironing following the deep drawing and redrawing processes. The practical aspects of this technology are well known and gained through extensive experiment and production know-how. However, the fundamental aspects of theses processes are relatively less known. Thus, it is expected that process simulations using FEM techniques would provide additional detailed information that could be utilized to improve the process condition. This paper illustrates the application of process modeling to deep drawing and redrawing operations for High Precision Rectangular Battery Case. A commercially avaliable finite element code LS-DYNA3D was used to simulate deep drawing and redrawing operations.

The practical aspects of this technology are well known and gained through extensive experiment and production know-how. However, the fundamental aspects of these processes are relatively less known. Thus, it is expected that process analysis using FEM techniques would provide additional detailed information that could be utilized to improve the process condition. This paper illustrates the application of process modeling to deep drawing and redrawing operations. To verify the simulation results, the experimental investigations were also carried out on a real industrial product. The numerical analysis by FEM shows good agreement with the experimental results in view of the deformation shape of the product. A commercially available finite element code LS-DYNA3D was used to simulate deep drawing and redrawing operations.

ESL Students' Narratives of Writing Process: Multiplicity and Sociocultural Aspects

  • Within a framework of sociocultural approaches to writing process, this study examined six ESL graduate students' writing processes in depth based on individual interviews and their narratives of writing process. The narratives and interviews were analyzed to discover salient aspects of the students' writing processes and to understand the socially situated nature of the writing processes. First, it was observed that these six students displayed multiplicity in terms of their representations of writing process, episodes, textual practices, and concerns. Several factors including the writing task, students' familiarity with genre, literacy skills, attitude toward writing, and involvement in interaction contributed to individualized trajectories of writing process. It was also revealed that writing is unavoidably a socially situated practice. Students were situated in their cultural arenas as well as their disciplinary arenas, and these contexts helped the students serve as active agents producing and sharing knowledge. The confluence of personal, cognitive, and social factors observed in their writing processes suggests that writing process should be understood from multiple perspectives.

  • Component-based software reuse has been generally regarded as a promising approach to improving software productivity and quality within software development. However, progress in component-based software reuse has been slower than expected. Much of the software reuse literature points to the lack of software components that can maximize users' benefits as the most important source of the slow progress. Considering that the underlying processes behind component-based software reuse are strikingly similar to commercial software marketing, this paper attempts to identify the aspects of software components that consumers value and to establish relationships between the identified aspects and consumer behavior in the software component market. More specifically, this paper focuses on the perceived subjective features of software components. This study was conducted in a web-based artificial market environment called "SofTrade."

  • A state or the arts in Japanese chemical process control is reviewed based on experience in applying advanced process control schemes to several industrial chemical processes. The applications validate model predictive control (MPC), the most popular advanced control scheme in the process control community, as, indeed, a powerful and practical control algorithm. However, at the same time, it is elucidated that MPC can solve only the control algorithm part of the problem and one needs chemical and systems engineering aspects to solve the entire problem. By illustrating several industrial process control problems, the need for chemical engineering aspects as well as the future direction for process control are addressed, especially in light or current attitudes toward product quality.

  • The Sido.Saeol system, a local government information system cost too much for having been designed and developed during last four years but the effectiveness of this system is still open to doubt. Also maintenance cost is still too high and become increasing year by year. To find out the reasons and to suggest how to solve these problems, a service quality of an Sido Saeol system and the public servant's job satisfaction were investigated based on the Delone and McLean's updated IS success Model(2003). To investigate of the effectiveness of the Sido Saeol system, 8 variables are analyzed to test 3 main hypothesis. After all the analysis, we found that Sido.Saeol systems have many aspects to be improved for system use and job satisfaction and have to be revise in the aspects of system qualities.
