잎담배 및 제품담배의 재떨어짐에 관한 연구 (Ash Drop Measuring on Tobacco Leaf Grades and Brand Cigarettes)

  • In this study, we have investigated the natural and puffing combustibility of cigarette brands and the compulsory ash-drop, and analysed factors related to the materials. Cigarette combustibility was greatly affected by the tobacco weight in cigarettes rod. Combustion rate of 4AOR cigarette made by flue-cured tobacco was 5.02 $^{mm}/_{min}\;and\;10\%$ faster than 1BO cigarette. Combustion pattern has interrelation with sugars, chlorine and ash contents among tobacco components. Combustion rate of 4DL, flue-cured tobacco was 55 seconds faster than 1CL tobacco extremely much in sugars contents, and ash drop was maintained at $21\%$ longer. Combustion time and burning rate were fast in cigarette made by expanded tobacco slice and tobacco stem and the formation of ash was poor. The length of puffed ash drop of expanded tobacco slice and tobacco stem were 18.6 mm and 25.2 mm and these forced ash drop length were 3.8 mm and 4.9 mm respectively. Puffed burning rate of general cigarette was $14.3\%$ faster than static burning rate and super slim type cigarettes was $21.3\%$ faster. Combustion rate and ash drop of domestic and foreign cigarette brands were quite different depending on tar level and cigarette types. The lower tar level, the faster combustion rate and the shorter ash drop.

미연분 및 NOx배출 특성에 대한 고회분탄의 영향 연구 (Effect of High Ash Coal on Unburned Carbon and NOx Emission)

  • The effect of high ash coal which has relatively high ash content and low combustibility on unburned carbon and NOx emission was experimentally investigated at several excess air ratio and particle size conditions of four coals containing different ash content in a drop tube furnace. Flue gas was measured by Gas analyzer in order to figure out unburned carbon characteristics. The results show that the higher content of ash makes the higher unburned carbon rate, subsequent changes in NOx emission characteristics was investigated.

고회분탄의 촤 산화 반응 특성 연구 (Char Oxidation Characteristics of High Ash Coal in Drop Tube Furnace)

  • 4 가지 탄종(Gunvor, Glencore, Noble, ECM)의 촤 산화반응 특성을 $900^{\circ}C$에서 $1300^{\circ}C$까지의 노내온도와 대기압 조건에서 DTF(drop tube furnace)를 이용하여 실험하였다. 촤 반응률은 FT-IR 장비로 측정한 CO, $CO_2$ 농도와 이색온도계로 측정한 입자온도를 통해 계산되었고 고회분탄의 활성화에너지(E)와 pre-exponential 상수(A)는 아레니우스 방정식을 기초로 계산되었다. 실험 결과는 석탄의 회분 함량이 늘어남에 따라, 입자온도와 면적반응성이 감소하였다. 이러한 결과는 회분의 큰 열용량, 회분의 기화잠열과 상대적으로 적은 고정탄소의 함량으로 인한 연소성 저하로 사료된다. 결과적으로 고회분탄은 높은 활성화 에너지(E)를 가진다.

입자상물질과 Ash양이 디젤매연여과장치 내의 배압 및 유동균일도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Particulate Matter and Ash Amount on Pressure Drop and Flow Uniformity of Diesel Particulate Filter Reduction System)

  • 최근 미세먼지 증가로 인하여 디젤엔진의 배출 규제가 강화됨에 따라 디젤 매연여과장치에 관심이 급증하게 되었으며, 특히 디젤 배기가스 후처리 장치의 고효율화에 대한 기술개발이 더욱 요구되고 있다. 이에 대한 일환으로서 디젤매연여과장치(diesel particulate filter, DPF) 내 배기가스의 유동 균일도를 향상시키고 배압을 낮추어서 배기가스처리 효율을 높이는 연구가 많이 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 ANSYS Fluent를 이용하여 직경 12"의 DPF와 디젤산화촉매(diesel oxidation catalyst, DOC)를 장착한 디젤 매연여과장치에서의 배기가스의 유속과 온도, DPF IO ratio, Ash와 PM양에 따른 배압에 미치는 영향을 시뮬레이션 하여 배압을 낮추는 최적화 연구를 하였다. 결과로서 배기가스의 온도와 유속이 낮을수록 배압이 낮아졌으며, PM양이 Ash양보다 배압에 더 큰 영향을 주는 것으로 나타냈다. 또한 비대칭 DPF가 대칭 DPF에 비해 배압이 더 낮게 나타냈으나, 유동 균일도의 경우는 다양한 변수에 관계없이 일정하게 나타냈다. european stationary cycle (ESC), european transient cycle (ETC) 조건에서 PM의 정화효율은 비대칭, 대칭 DPF 관계없이 유사하나, particle number (PN)의 정화효율에서는 비대칭 DPF가 대칭 DPF에 비해 높게 나타냈다.

  • 본 연구는 고회분탄의 최적화된 연소 조건을 알아보기 위해 회분 함량이 각기 다른 네 종류 석탄의 연소시 배출되는 NOx및 미연분 특성을 알아보았다. 실험은 DTF(Drop Tube Furnace)를 통해서 다양한 입자크기조건 및 공기다단방식을 도입하여 수행하였다. 결과로 회분의 함량이 증가할수록 미연분이 증가하며, 입자크기가 증대될수록 미연분에 대한 회분의 영향이 명확해짐을 확인하였다. 또한, 회분의 함량이 증가할수록 Char-NOx가 감소하며, 입자크기가 감소할수록 NOx의 배출이 감소하는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 고회분탄의 NOx를 저감하는 방법으로 공기다단방식의 적용을 제안하며 전단 연소 영역의 공기과잉률 변화를 통한 최적화된 연소조건을 제시하였다.

  • 연구에서는 국내 D 석탄 화력발전소에서 비회 이송량 35,800 kg/h의 용량으로 운전 중인 비회 이송설비를 대상으로 최대 비회 이송량을 예측하였다. 수평거리 550 m, 수직거리 40 m, 엘보우 9개소, 직경 0.254 m의 이송관으로 구성된 비회 이송관로와 트립(trip) 정압 1,163 mmH2O, 풍량 5,040 m3/h인 용적식 비회 이송 송풍기로 이루어진 비회 이송 시스템에서 최대 비회 이송량은 비회 이송량의 증가에 따른 비회 이송 시스템의 압력 손실과 용적식 비회 이송 송풍기의 트립 정압이 같아질 때이며, 이 조건 하에서 가능한 최대 비회 이송량은 52,600 kg/h로 예상되었다.

Rheology and pipeline transportation of dense fly ash-water slurry

  • Prediction of the maximum packing volume fraction with non-spherical particles has been one of the important problems in powder technology. The sphericity of fly ash particles depending on the particle diameter was measured by means of a CCD image processing instrument. An algorithm to predict the maximum packing volume fraction with non-spherical particles is proposed. The maximum packing volume fraction is used to predict the slurry viscosity under well dispersed conditions. For this purpose, Simha's cell model is applied for concentrated slurry with wide particle size distribution. Also, Usui's model developed for aggregative slurries is applied to predict the non-Newtonian viscosity of dense fly ash - water slurry. It is certified that the maximum packing volume fraction for non-spherical particles can be successfully used to predict slurry viscosity. The pressure drop in a pipe flow is predicted by using the non-Newtonian viscosity of dense fly ash-water slurry obtained by the present model. The predicted relationship between pressure drop and flow rate results in a good agreement with the experimented data obtained for a test rig with 50 mm inner diameter tube. Base on the design procedure proposed in this study, a feasibility study of fly ash hydraulic transportation system from a coal-fired power station to a controlled deposit site is carried out to give a future prospect of inexpensive fly ash transportation technology.

  • The SCR catalyst in coal-fired power plant is eroded by the collision of fly ash on the catalyst surface. However the erosion of SCR catalyst by the collision of fly ash has not been fully studied, especially in terms of fluid dynamics. Hence, in the present study, we focus on the gas and solid flows inside the SCR catalyst duct and their consequent effect on the erosion characteristics. For this purpose, computational fluid dynamics is applied to investigate the two-phase flows and to evaluate the erosion rate for different flow and particle injection conditions. Also, the erosion rate and pressure drop of commonly used square shape are compared with equilateral triangle and hexagon shapes. The pressure drop of SCR catalyst is increased when SCR catalyst surface area per unit volume increases. The erosion rate of SCR catalyst is enhanced when the particle velocity, mass flow rate of particle, particle diameter and cell density of SCR catalyst are increased. From the results, the pressure drop and erosion rate at the catalyst surface can be minimized by reducing cell density of SCR catalyst to decrease particle velocity and number of particle impacts.

금속 섬유 필터층을 이용한 미세 분진 집진 성능 관찰 (Examination of Dust Trapping Mechanism in a Metal Fiber Filter-bed)

  • A metal fiber bed has seldom been applied to the practical filtration process despite its excellent mechanical and chemical stability. The filter-bed used in this work was highly porous with open structure, of which apparent porosity was 80 ∼ 90%. Although pressure loss across the filter-bed was very low, separation efficiency was found to be quite high. This paper focuses on the basic filtration mechanisms of a metal filter-bed and a thin ceramic filter from fly ash for reference. The experimental parameters were face velocity, dust loading and porosity of filter-bed. Pressure drop increased with increasing face velocity and dust feeding load for both filters. It also showed that dust particles deposited in the deep flow path, finally resulting in clogging the pore channels. It thereby indicates that the dominating mechanism of the metal filter-bed would be depth filtration. Meanwhile, the thin fly ash composite filters trapped the aerated dust mainly on the surface of the filter medium, so that the instantaneously formed dust layer might cause a steep increase of pressure drop across the filtration system.

폐기물 소각시 생성되는 유해 중금속물질과 연소실내 비산재와의 응축, 응집 현상에 대한 연구 (Condensation and coagulation of metallic species with fly ash particles in a waste incinerator)

  • A numerical analysis on condensation and coagulation of the metallic species with fly ash particles pre-existing in an incinerator was performed. Waste was simplified as a mixture of methane, chlorine, and small amounts of Pb and Sn. Vapor-phase amounts of Pb- and Sn -compounds were first calculated assuming a thermodynamic equilibrium state. Then theories on vapor-to-particle conversion, vapor condensation onto the fly ash particles, and particle-particle interaction were examined and incorporated into equations of aerosol dynamics and vapor continuity. It was assumed that the particles followed a log-normal size distribution and thus a moment model was developed in order to predict the particle concentration and the particle size distribution simultaneously. Distributions of metallic vapor concentration (or vapor pressure) were also obtained. Temperature drop rate of combustion gas, fly ash concentration and its size were selected as parameters influencing the discharged amount of metallic species. In general, the coagulation between the newly formed metal particles and the fly ash particles was much greater than that between the metal particles themselves or between the fly ash particles themselves. It was also found that the amount of metallic species discharged into the atmosphere was increased due to coagulation. While most of PbO vapors produced from the combustion were eliminated due to combined effect of condensation and coagulation, the highly volatile species, PbCl$_{2}$ and SnCl$_{4}$ vapors tended to discharge into the atmosphere without experiencing either the condensation or the coagulation. For Sn vapors the tendency was between that of PbO vapors and that of PbCl$_{2}$ or SnCl$_{4}$. To restrain the discharged amount of hazardous metallic species, the coagulation should be restrained, the number concentration and the size of pre-existing fly ash particles should be increased, and the temperature drop rate of combustion gas should be kept low.
