An experiment was conducted to compare the influences of artificial zeolite(AZ) produced from fly ash and natural zeolite(NZ), those were supplemented into broiler diets, on performances, intestinal microbes and some blood chemistry for 5 wks. The experimental diets contained 21.5 and 19% CP fur starting and finishing period, respectively. The ME was 3,100 kcal/kg of feed in both starter and finisher diets. Three hundred twenty chicks were assigned to 5 treatments with 4 replicates and fed one of five experimental diets containing different levels of AZ or NZ ; 0% zeolite, 1.5% AZ, 3.0% AZ, 1.5% NZ, and 3.0% NZ. Weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion were measured with weekly basis. Blood cholesterol and intestinal microflora were analyzed at the end of the experiment. Weight gain of chicks fed with NZ tended to increase, but was not statistically different from other diet groups. However, the birds of fed with 3.0% AZ showed significant decrement of weight gain compared to that of control(P<0.05). No significant difference in feed intake was found among five treatment. Feed conversion was significantly improved in 3.0% NZ treatment relative to that of 3.0% AZ(P<0.05). There were no consistent differences in intestinal microbes between the control and zeolite groups. Blood cholesterol was significantly lower in 3.0% NZ treatments than the others(P<0.05). These results suggest that AZ can be added to broiler feeds less than 1.5% without any detrimental effects on chick performances.

In this study, we have developed a microbe-carrier that combined Desulfovibrio desulfuricans and zeolite for removal of Zn and As in contaminated seawater. Desulfovibrio desulfuricans, one of the sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) microorganism was exhibited stable growth characteristics in highly salted water and strong resistance to Zn and As contaminated seawater. Moreover, zeolites are one of the most useful carrier to remove heavy metals from wastewaters. The results showed that SRB immobilized zeolite carrier can enhance removal ratio of Zn and As. In addition, heavy metals tended to be better removed in medium at conditions of $37^{\circ}C$. In case of heavy metal concentration, they were effectively removed ranging from 50 to 100 ppm. These results show that SRB-zeolite carriers hold great potential to remove cationic heavy metal species from industrial wastewater in marine environment.
Zeolites and microporouos materials continue to attract attention as novel hosts for photochemical reactions. Zeolities are attractive because of their ability to selectivity exchange and incorporate species within the void spaces and interconnecting channels, providing a spatial arrangement of molecules. Our research has primarily focused on intrazeolitic electron transfer from excited Ru(bpy)32+ in supercages of zeolite Y to a series of bipyridinium ions. In the Ru(bpy)32+ viologen-zeolite Y samples, the slowing of the back electron transfer from the bipyridinium radical cation to Ru(bpy)32+ allows for charge propagation via self exchange between diquat molecules. This provides an opportunity for permanent charge separation. When the migrating charge on the diquat radical within the zeolite reaches the surface, it can be transferred to a neutral viologen (PVS) in solution, resulting in permanent charge separation. The advantage of long-lived charge separation can be exploited for useful chemistry if suitable catablysts can be assembled on the zeolities. We have studied Ru(bpy)2 as water oxdiation catalysts. We have demonstrated that synthesis of RuO2 fibers on a zeolite via thermal decomposition of Ru3(CO)12 leads to the most active water decomposition catalyst reported to date. Because of the extensive interest of photochemical water reduction to H2, much is known about catalytic systems usin gone electron catalyst, and even more importantly, that no reaction of viologen occurred with H2 over this catalyst. The present challenge is to incorporate all these elements of the system into an architecture and we are examining zeolite membranes for this purpose.

The results of an experiment on the sea water purification of the porous concrete using granular artificial zoelite and its influence on the physical and mechanical properties are reported in this paper. Two different sizes of coarse aggregate of 5$\∼$13, 13$\∼$20mm, and three of void ratio(15, 20 and 30 percent) for a given size of aggregate were used. In the water permeability, an aggregate of the size of 13$\∼$20mm is much higher than that of the 13$\∼$20mm, but the water permeability is smaller in the less design void ratio. and In the compressive strength, an aggregate of the size of 5$\∼$13mm is much higher strength than that of the 13$\∼$20mm, but the compressive strength is higher in the less design void ratio.
This study was carried out to investigate some mineralogical characteristics of Artificial Granular Zeolite (AGZ) and effect of AGZ on purification and alleviation of rice seedling damages of mine wastewater containing heavy metals. AGZ had mainly representative Na-P1 peaks and some $C_3S$ peaks of Portland cement in X-ray diffractogram. Differential thermal analysis represented that AGZ had weak endothermic peak around $130^{\circ}C$ and new deep endothermic peak around $750^{\circ}C$ as compared to powdery artificial zeolite. The ranking of heavy metals removals by AGZ, was lead> copper> cadmium> zinc in the synthetic wastewater. Root growth of rice seedling was greatly inhibited in the mine wastewater, and died after all. As AGZ treated into the mine wastewater with the ratio 1 : 50 (W : V) for one day or 1 : 100 for 4 days, the concentrations of heavy metals in the mine wastewater were decreased to below the critical concentration for agricultural use. And rice seedlings were grew with little damages in the purified water by AGZ.

The purpose of this study is to put to practical use the economical high-strength lightweight concrete manufactured by domestic materials, through the analysis on the properties of lightweight concrete with the natural zeolite and mud stone abundant in domestic and compare them with those with silica fume. As a result, it was possible to gain proper workability in the lightweight concrete with admixtures through using the superplasticizer. the optimum replacement rate of zeolite and mud stone powder is respectively 5~10%, 10~15% on unit-cement amount. The strength development rate for plain concrete is 27%, 18% at optimum replacement rate.
Constructed wetlands typically cost less to build and operate, and require less energy than standard mechanical treatment technology but they have similar performance to centralized wastewater treatment plants. Therefore, they were constructed especially many in rural areas, where are small villages but not industries. Plantless column tests were performed to investigate the possibility on using zeolite as a filter medium of constructed wetland for the wastewater treatment. Removal efficiency was $COD_{Cr}$ 94.63% T-P 41.41% and $NH_4^+-N$ 99.75% at hydraulic load 314 $L/m^2{\cdot}d$ and filtering height 100 cm filled with a zeolite mixture. This zeolite mixture consisted of 1 : 1 by volume of zeolites in the diameter range of 0.5 to 1 mm and 1 to 3 mm. Accordingly, hydraulic load 314 $L/m^2{\cdot}d$ was considered as optimal. Three zeolite mixtures were used to determine the optimal mixing ratio by volume of a zeolite (A) in the diameter range of 0.5 to 1 mm to a zeolite (B) in the diameter range of 1 to 3 mm 1 : 3, 1 : 1 and only B in A to B by volume were tested at hydraulic load 314 $L/m^2{\cdot}d$ and filtering height 100 cm $COD_{Cr}$ removal efficiency was more than 89% at mixing ratios of 1 : 3 and 1 : 1 in A to B. That of T-P ranged 56.42 to 58.72% and, that of T-N and $NH_4^+-N$ was 87% and 99% regardless of mixing ratios of two zeolites. Removal efficiency was lower at the column filled with only B. Removal efficiency was better at Inter medium filled with mixing ratio 1 : 1 in A to B than with the other mixing ratios. Thus, it was found that the mixture of mixing ratio 1 : 1 in A to B was appropriate far Inter medium of constructed wetland Removal efficiency was higher in down-flow than in up-flow, and all contaminants were removed most in 20 cm filter height near feeding area.

Recently, biofilm reactors are considered as efficient wastewater treatment system in rural areas, because of characteristics of easy operation and economic feasibility. In order to select the most efficient media, an experimental apparatus with five different media was designed, installed and examined. The media used in this study were zeolite, artificial sponge gourd, absorbent biofilter, non-woven fabric and charcoal. With only one month investigation, all five media showed high removal efficiencies of BOD.
Geopolymer concrete (GPC) has emerged as a feasible choice for construction materials as a result of the environmental issues associated with the production of cement. The findings of this study contribute to the development of machine learning methods for estimating the properties of eco-friendly concrete to help reduce CO2 emissions in the construction industry. The compressive strength (fc) of GPC is predicted using artificial intelligence approaches in the present study when ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) is substituted with natural zeolite (NZ), silica fume (SF), and varying NaOH concentrations. For this purpose, two machine learning methods multi-layer perceptron (MLP) and radial basis function (RBF) were considered and hybridized with arithmetic optimization algorithm (AOA), and grey wolf optimization algorithm (GWO). According to the results, all methods performed very well in predicting the fc of GPC. The proposed AOA - MLP might be identified as the outperformed framework, although other methodologies (AOA - RBF, GWO - RBF, and GWO - MLP) were also reliable in the fc of GPC forecasting process.
