Numerical simulation of flow around two circular cylinders in various arrangements

  • The results of flow feature around two circular cylinders in various arrangements are carried out using two-dimensional simulation at Reynolds number of 200. In this work, time-averaged fluid force acting on the upstream and downstream cylinders were calculated for staggered angle ${\alpha}=0{\sim}90^{\circ}$ in the range of L/D = 1.1~5, where ${\alpha}$ is the angle between the free-stream flow and the line connecting the centers of the cylinders, L is centre-to-centre distance and D is cylinder diameter. The dependence of magnitudes and trends of fluid force coefficient on the spacing ratio L/D and ${\alpha}$ are discussed. In all arrangements of two cylinders, tandem arrangement (${\alpha}=0^{\circ}$) is the case produced a minimum drag coefficient for downstream cylinder. Moreover, the locations of separation and stagnation points or pressure coefficient on surface of the cylinder were examined. Effect of angle stiffeners on the flexural strength and stiffness of cold-formed steel beams

  • Cold-formed steel (CFS) sections when used as primary load carrying members often require additional strengthening for retrofitting purposes. In some cases, it is also necessary to reduce deflections in order to satisfy serviceability requirements. The introduction of angle sections, screwed to the webs so as to act as external stiffeners, has the potential to both increase flexural strength as well as reduce deflections. This paper presents the results of ten four-point bending tests, on built-up CFS sections, both open and closed, with different stiffening arrangements. In the laboratory tests, the stiffening arrangements increased the moment capacity and stiffness of the CFS beams by up to 85% and 100% respectively. The increase in moment capacity was more evident for the open sections, while that reduction in deflection was largest for the closed sections.

  • Wave interaction in marine structures is an important issue where requires to be considered in view of number of bases, piles and arrangement method. In this research, effect of waves and their forces on piles with different arrangements was investigated using numerical modeling. Simulations were performed in presence of bracing elements between piles against the force of waves and also were compared with simple arrangement without bracing elements in different arrangements. Results showed that in models that were fitted with bracing elements, the displacement rate reduced about 96%, and tension tolerances increased more than 53% and abutment responses also decreased about 70%.

Influence of COVID-19 Anxiety on Vigor and Innovative Work Behavior: Mediated Moderation of Flexible Work Arrangement

  • The present study examines the impact of COVID-19 anxiety on employees' psychological resources and behaviors, drawing on the conservation of resources theory. We also investigate whether flexibility in work contexts has a meaningful effect on employees' responses to the pandemic. A total of 284 working adults participated in an online survey consisting of self-reporting questionnaires that assessed levels of COVID-19 anxiety, vigor, innovative work behavior, and flexible working arrangements. The results showed that the level of vigor mediated the positive relationship between COVID-19 anxiety and innovative work behavior, and the perceived level of flexible working arrangements moderated this mediation effect positively. The findings highlight the importance of considering employees' psychological resources and work arrangements in managing the negative impact of COVID-19-related anxiety. This study provides theoretical and practical implications for organizations to better understand the psychological processes that employees undergo during a crisis. Further research on diverse work settings and cultural backgrounds is needed to expand on the present findings.

유연근무제 경험에 관한 질적연구: 미취학 자녀를 둔 맞벌이 부부 중심으로 (A Qualitative Study on the Experience of Flexible work arrangements: Focusing on Double-Income Couples with Preschool Children)

  • 본 연구는 일-가정양립을 위한 대표 정책 중 유연근무제가 실제 이용자인 맞벌이 부부들에게 미치는 실질적인 효과와 영향에 대한 검토를 바탕으로 유연근무제의 현실적인 문제점을 살펴보고자 진행되었다. 본 연구에서는 미취학 자녀를 둔 맞벌이 부부 3쌍을 대상으로 총 6명의 맞벌이 부모의 유연근무제 경험에 대한 심층 면담이 진행되었으며, 그들이 경험한 긍정적인 효과성과 제도사용의 어려움에 대한 문제점을 파악하고 해결방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 데이터 분석은 면담을 통해 도출된 자료 속에서 구조화된 틀을 기준으로 자료 전체를 검토하고 영역별 주제를 범주화하여 3개의 상위범주와 9개의 하위범주로 정리하였다. 분석 결과는 '가정에서의 변화', '사회·문화적 시선', '정책 및 사회경제적 변화요구'로 도출하였다. 본 연구는 유연근무제 실사용자들의 관점과 목소리를 연구에 직접 반영하였다는 점에서 의의가 있으며, 향후 유연근무제 제도개선에 당위성과 설득력을 부여하고, 정책 방향 및 지원을 수립하는데 기초자료가 될 것으로 기대된다.

  • This study attempts to understand factors influencing the persistence of companie's outsourcing arrangements using the techniques of survival analysis. It provides an insight into the dynamics of outsourcing relationships between clients and vendors. This is particularly relevant considering that current IS sourcing arrangements are strategic and long term, and require close interdependent relationships between the client and the vendor.

  • A new method of construction of second order slope rotatable designs (SOSRD) using symmetrical unequal block arrangements (SUBA) with two unequal block sizes is suggested. The proposed method may sometimes lead to designs with less number of design points than those available in the literature. Further, bounds for the parameters of SOSRD are also obtained.

  • This paper describes the capacity calculation of power supply system for light Rail Transit Three factors are considered for the design i.e. substation arrangements, line configuration and substation power capacity. In this study, we considered all of them for capacity calculation of power supply system for LRT. At first DC-fed-traction system is introduced on an outline, a characteristics of train and fed network, and design method of substation arrangements. Optimal design procedures are described, and program for capacity calculation of the system is presented. In addition, the computer simulated results are computed with the conventional simple calculation method.

  • The influence of voltage lead and tape arrangements on self-field losses was investigated by using a 1.5m long Bi-2223 tape. Experimental results show that the measured losses are strongly dependent on voltage lead configurations but not contact positions. The losses are independent on frequencies below critical current of the tape. It menas that the self-field losses are purely hysteretic.

  • Richard Stanley suggested the problem of finding combinatorial proofs of formulas for counting regions of certain hyperplane arrangements defined by hyperplanes of the form $x_i=0$, $x_i=x_j$, and $x_i=2x_j$ that were found using the finite field method. We give such proofs, using embroidered permutations and linear extensions of posets.
