This study was carried out to investigate the vascular plants of the Mt. Gariwang (1,560.6 m) Protected Area for Forest Genetic Resource Conservation. The vascular plants collected 5 times (from May 2011 to October 2012) consisted of total 529 taxa; 89 families, 272 genera, 458 species, 3 subspecies, 62 varieties and 6 forms respectively. Among them, 22 taxa of Korean endemic plants and 30 taxa of Korean rare plants were investigated in addition to 144 taxa of specially designated plants announced by the Ministry of Environment of Korea. Naturalized plants were 15 taxa, therefore naturalized ratio was 2.83%. 529 taxa listed consists of 178 taxa (33.6%) of edible plants, 144 taxa (27.2%) of medicinal plants, 163 taxa (30.8%)of pasture plants, 68 taxa (12.8%) of ornamental plants, 20 taxa (3.8%) of timber plants, 8 taxa (1.5%) of fiber plants, respectively.
This paper investigates the characteristics of high $PM_{2.5}$ episodes occurred at Anmyeondo area in spring time, 2009. The monthly mean $PM_{2.5}$ concentration during April was the highest in the year and especially, high levels of $PM_{2.5}$ exceeding standard regulation level were sustained consecutively during 5 to 13 April. To analyze more detailed $PM_{2.5}$ characteristics, numerical simulations were carried out using CMAQ(Community Multi-scale Air Quality) with IPR(Integrated Process Rate) and DDM-3D(Decoupled Direct Method). $PM_{2.5}$ level was lower in daytime than that in nighttime due to vigorous vertical mixing during daytime. The chemical composition was showed that ratio of primary ion components such as sulfate($SO_4{^{2-}}$), nitrate($NO_3{^-}$) and ammonium($NH_4{^+}$) were nearly half of total amount of $PM_{2.5}$. Aerosol and transport process dominantly contributed to $PM_{2.5}$ concentration in Anmyeondo area and contribution rate of local emissions was nearly zero since Anmyeondo area has rare anthropogenic PM emission sources. DDM-3D analysis result showed that $PM_{2.5}$ in Anmyeondo area was influenced by emissions from Shanghai and Shandong region of China.
For analyzing the distribution of chromite, magnetic survey was carried out on the chromium mineralized belt in Bophi Vum area, northwestern Myanmar. As a result, the magnetic susceptibility of chromite is lower than those of dunite and harzburgite, which are background rocks of chromite. Also, the locations of low magnetic anomaly zone and low magnetic susceptibility models of 3D magnetic inversion result are spatially well matched with those of chromite occurrences confirmed by the surface geological survey and trench survey. Some of low magnetic effects are expanded to the periphery area of chromite occurrences. Considering the magnetic susceptibility characteristics of various rocks in this area, the expanded low magnetic anomaly zones are estimated as the high potential areas bearing chromite. For confirming the potential area of chromite pointed by coarse magnetic survey, the additional detail exploration need to be carried out in future.

This study carried out for establishing the synthetic restoration plan to improve ecological quality of Mt. Mudeung National Park based on the results of conservation value assessment for yellow-throated marten habitats. Yellow-throated marten has significant implications as umbrella species for the wildlife habitats conservation, therefore, this species could be used to ecological restoration plan of the damaged forest ecosystem in Mt. Mudeung National Park. In this study, we diagnosed the quality of yellow-throated marten habitats in Mt. Mudeung National Park based on five natural and two artificial factors. In addition, we evaluated the integrity of each zone divided by trails quantitatively based on land use intensity. As a result, forest landscape quality in Mt. Mudeung National Park was influenced greatly by human activity and the degree was depended on the intensity of trails. Therefore, in this study, we suggested the closing of trails composed of the illegal and 36 legal trails. And then, we modeled the changes of habitats quality of Yellow-throated marten for each closing step. As a result the area of core habitats increased by two times and wildlife habitats quality improved in the whole area of the Mt. Mudeung National Park. As a result, the results of this study indicate that man-made linear landscape elements play a key role in the quality of habitats for predators, which require large habitats area like the Yellow-throated marten. Therefore, in order to establish an ecological restoration plan in the mountainous area, we recommend the concept of the linear landscape should be applied with the concept of area landscape.
A geochemical technique based on rare earth element geochemistry was used to clarity the source of the Asian dust (Yellow sand) in the Daejeon area. The Asian dusts were collected 4 times during 31th March- 2nd April and 25th May-27th May 2007. The Yellow sand shows PAAS (Post Archean Australian Shale)-normalized REE pattern of the flattened LREE and slightly depleted LREE without Eu anomaly, whereas the Daejeon soil has slightly enriched LREE and depleted HREE with negative Eu anomaly. Our results show that REE patterns of the Asian dust are LREE-flattened similar to those of the sediment from the south-eastern part of Ordos desert. This suggests that Asian dust in the Daejeon area might be derived from the south-eastern part of Ordos desert.
The natural environment and local ecosystem change depending on various factors, but among them, the change in water temperature is one of the major factors affecting the surrounding environment in the river ecosystem. However, research on water temperature change have not been actively conducted to date compared to the effect of water temperature on the river environment. Therefore, this study intends to study the change in water temperature from 2015 to 2021 through the change in the area of winter ice in the Hongcheon River. Optical satellite images were classified by referring to the field survey results, and the SAR satellite imagestried to overcome the limitations of the input data by using the GLCM texture analysis method. After verifying the accuracy of all images used, the calculated monthly average ice area was compared with the temperature data of the adjacent AWS. It was found that there is a correlation between water temperature and ice area, and the results of this study can be used to study environmental changes in small-scale rivers that are difficult to access or do not have systems in place.

In this paper, we propose a method of extraction analysis of blood flow area on color doppler ultrasonography by using 4-directional contour tracking and K-Means algorithm. In the proposed method, ROI is extracted and a binarization method with maximum contrast as a threshold is applied to the extracted ROI. 4-directional contour algorithm is applied to extract the trapezoid shaped region which has blood flow area of brachial artery from the binarized ROI. K-Means based quantization is then applied to accurately extract the blood flow area of brachial artery from the trapezoid shaped region. In experiment, the proposed method successfully extracts the target area in 28 out of 30 cases (93.3%) with field expert's verification. And comparison analysis of proposed K-Means based blood flow area extraction on 30 color doppler ultrasonography and brachial artery blood flow ultrasonography provided by a specialist yielded a result of 94.27% accuracy on average.

Urbanization and industrialization have caused increasing damage to national lands, and ecological restoration has proceeded without any specific assessment of this damage. The purpose of this study is to select indices to assess damaged areas through literature review and panel discussions, and to derive the importance of damaged area assessment indices by analyzing them through the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). This study has derived, via literature review, six types of damage and a total of 18 related assessment indices. A total of 51 responses were collected from surveys and given to experts, and an AHP analysis conducted. As a result of the analysis, "Landform change (0.268)" was of the highest importance, with associated damage types as follows: "Soil contamination (0.193)", "Vegetation damaged (0.149)", "Surface soil loss (0.143)", "Change in soil physiochemical property (0.125)", and "Vegetation decline (0.122)". The analysis determined that the item of the highest importance in the overall assessment of damage was "Slope occurred area (0.100)", and that "Conductivity (0.022)" was of the lowest importance. This study can be presented as a criterion in determining the type and degree of damage in setting priorities for future ecological restoration projects.

A total of 97,623 ships were registered in Korea in 2019. Among these, 65,835 vessels, accounting for approximately 67 % of the total number of ships, were registered as fishing vessels. As with the proportion of fishing vessels, the frequency of marine accidents is also high. In 2020, 2,331 of 3,535 accidents occurred on fishing vessels. Hence, various institutional arrangements are required for improving the safety of domestic fishing vessels. In this study, we examined domestic and international regulations on domestic and foreign control performance related to fishing boats for improving the safety of fishing boats. Additionally, the ratio of the rudder area of 153 fishing boats operating in Korea was investigated to examine the current status of the rudder area design of fishing boats whose design standards have not been clearly established compared to fishing boats. Resultantly, we statistically confirmed that most fishing boats were designing rudder areas because they did not meet international standards. In the future, these analysis results can be used as basic data to prepare rudder area design standards for improving the maneuvering performance of domestic fishing boats.

In this study, we evaluated the impacts of land-based pollution sources on seawater and shellfish in the Jindongman area after 20.5 mm and 90.6 mm rainfall events. We analyzed sanitary indicator microorganisms used in survey management, such as total coliform, fecal coliform, Escherichia coli, and male-specific coliphage in Waste water treatment plant (WWTP), major inland pollution source,s seawater, and shellfish for 4 days after rainfall events. Our results showed that the range of coliform group and fecal coliform was 1.8-49 and <1.8-4.5 MPN (most probable number)/100 mL, respectively, after rainfall events in WWTP discharge water. Furthermore, the radius of the calculated impacted area of major inland pollution sources ranged from 5 to 798 m after 20.5 mm of rainfall and 30 to 1,031 m after 90.6 mm of rainfall. The fecal coliform of seawater at 30 stations in the shellfish growing area and areas adjacent to four stations was <1.8-130 and from <1.8-79 MPN/100 mL, respectively. The E. coli level of shellfish at 7 stations in the shellfish growing area was <18-220 MPN/100 g.
