화산암 지역 고심도 암반대수층 수리지질특성 평가 (Evaluation of Hydrogeological Characteristics of Deep-Depth Rock Aquifer in Volcanic Rock Area)

  • 고심도 암반대수층이 운영시설의 주요 대상이 되는 고준위 방사성폐기물 처분 분야에서 수리특성 정보들은 관련 처분 부지 선택, 처분 시설 상세 설계, 최적 시공 방안 도출 그리고 운영 시 안정성 평가에 있어 가장 중요한 핵심 요소로 작용한다. 국내에는 좁은 면적에 여러 암종이 혼재되어 분포하고 있기 때문에 다양한 암종별 암반대수층의 수리지질특성을 분석하고 이를 데이터베이스화 하는 사전 작업들이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 고심도 화산암반대수층의 현장 수리특성 중 가장 대표적인 수리전도도 자료를 획득하고 이를 분석 평가하였다. 현장 자료 획득을 위해 자체적으로 개발된 고성능 수리시험 장치를 활용하였고, 표준화된 시험법 및 조사절차를 적용하였다. 수리특성 자료분석 과정에서는 심도별로 수리상수인 수리전도도 값을 구하였으며, 시험 구간에 위치한 투수성 암반 절리를 통한 지하수 흐름 양상에 관해서도 평가하였다. 본 논문에서 제안된 일련의 자료 획득 방법, 절차와 분석 결과들은 국내 고심도 암반대수층의 수리특성 자료 데이터베이스 구축에 활용됨과 더불어 향후 다양한 지역별 암종별 수리특성연구에 적용될 기술적 노하우를 향상시키는 역할도 할 것으로 기대된다.

국내 시설농업단지의 수리지질 특성을 고려한 인공함양 민감도 분석 : 수리전도도 및 주입정과 양수정의 이격거리 (Sensitivity Analysis of Artificial Recharge in Consideration of Hydrogeologic Characteristics of Facility Agricultural Complex in Korea : Hydraulic Conductivity and Separation Distance from Injection Well to Pumping Well)

  • In this study, the sensitivity analysis of hydraulic conductivity and separation distance (distance between injection well and pumping well) was analyzed by establishing a conceptual model considering the hydrogeologic characteristics of facility agricultural complex in Korea. In the conceptual model, natural characteristics (topography and geology, precipitation, hydraulic conductivity, etc.) and artificial characteristics (separation distance from injection well to pumping well, injection rate and pumping rate, etc.) is entered, and sensitivity analysis was performed 12 scenarios using a combination of hydraulic conductivity ($10^{-1}cm/sec$, $10^{-2}cm/sec$, $10^{-3}cm/sec$, $10^{-4}cm/sec$) and separation distance (10 m, 50 m, 100 m). Groundwater drawdown at the monitoring well was increased as the hydraulic conductivity decreased and the separation distance increased. From the regression analysis of groundwater drawdown as a hydraulic conductivity at the same separation distance, it was found that the groundwater level fluctuation of artificial recharge aquifer was dominantly influenced by hydraulic conductivity. In the condition that the hydraulic conductivity of artificial recharge aquifer was $10^{-2}cm/sec$ or more, the radius of influence of groundwater level was within 20 m, but In the condition that the hydraulic conductivity is $10^{-3}cm/sec$ or less, it is confirmed that the radius of influence of groundwater increases sharply as the separation distance increases.

H 연구지역의 수리지질-수리분산특성과 지하수 오염가능성 평가연구 (A Study on Hydrogeologic, Hydrodispersive Characterization and Groundwater Contamination Assessment of an H-site)

  • A comprehensive in-situ tests are performed to define the hydrogeologic and hydrodispersive characteristics such as hydraulic conductivities, longitudinal dispersivity, and average linear velocities as well as conducting flow-net analysis at the study area. The results show that the study area is very heterogeneous so that hydraulic conductivities range from $6.45{\times}10^{-7}$ to $1.15{\times}10^{-5}m/s$ with average linear velocities of 0.34~0.62m/day. Whole groundwater in upper-most aquifer is discharging into the sea with specific discharge rate of $7.2{\times}10^{-3}$ to $1.3{\times}10^{-2}m/day$. The longitudinal dispersivity of the aquifer is estimated about 4.8m through In-situ injection phase test. The area is highly vulnerable to potential contaminant sources due to it's high value of DRASTIC index ranging from 139 to 155 and also under water table condition with very shallow groundwater level. To delineate contaminant plumes of toxic NaOH and carcinogenic benzene when these substances are assumed to be leaked through existing TSDF at the study area by unexpected accidents or spill, Aquifer Simulation Model (ASM) including Flow and Transport Model is used. Te simulated results reveal that the size of NaOH plume after 5 years continuous leak is about $250{\times}100m$ and benzene after 10 years, $490{\times}100m$. When the groundwater is abstracted about 50 days, which is maximum continuously sustained no-precipitation period during 30 years, with pumping rate of $100m^3/day$, THWELL program shows that the groundwater is adversly affected by sea water intrusion.

대수층 지질 및 온도에 따른 국내 지하수의 지구화학적 특징 -화강암질암내 지하수와의 비교연구 (Geochemical Characteristics of Groundwater in Korea with Different Aquifer Geology and Temperature -Comparative Study with Granitic Groundwater)

  • 국내 화강암질암내 지하수와의 대수층 지질 및 온도에 따른 지구화학적 특징 차이를 살펴보기 위하여 변성퇴적암류내 지하수와 온천수를 택하였다. 변성퇴적암류를 대수층으로 하는 지하수 내의 $Na^+$ 함량은 화강암질암에 비하여 통계적으로 낮다. 또한 화강암질암의 지하수와는 달리 변성퇴적암류의 지하수는 심부에서도 방해석의 거동에 의해 지하수의 화학조성이 조절됨으로써 $Ca^{2+]$-${HCO_3}^-$ 유형에 속한다. 이는 변성퇴적암류의 대수층 암석에 사장석의 함유량이 극히 적은 것에 기인한다. 요인분석 결과, 변성퇴적암류의100~300 m 심도의 지하수는 1) 방해석 및 Mg-탄산염암의 용해, 2) 백운모의 용해에 의하여 kaolinite가 illite로 전환되는 반응, 3) 지표에서 유입된 형태로 존재하는 $Na^+$ 등의 세 가지 요인으로 압축된다. 화강암질암과 변성퇴적암류에 대하여 도출된 판별함수는 약 81.8%의 판별력을 보였으며 이 판별식에 사장석이 주구성광물로 존재하는 화산암질 지하수를 적용한 결과 모두 화강암질암 그룹에 속하였다. 한편 온천수는 상대적으로 심도가 낮음에도 불구하고 화강암질암의 심부지하수와 유사한 화학적 특징을 보임으로써 고온으로 인해 주변 광물과의 반응이 활성화되었음을 나타낸다.

관개용 관정의 가채빙량 추정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Determination Method of Pumpin Rates in Tube Wells for Irrigation)

  • The purpose of this thesis is to search for the determination method of pumping rates in the existing tube wells for irrigation. Pumping tests were carried out for the twelve test tube wells which were selected in the provinces of Kyounggi, Kangwon, Chungbuk and Chungnam. The depths, static water levels, pumping levels, drawdowns and yields of tube wells were measured in the pumping tests, and a centrifugal pump with 3 inches diameter, a 5 HP motor and a 90$^{\circ}$ V-notch were used in the pumping tests. The average coefficient of transmissibility calculated by Chow's and Jacob's methods is 0.0336 square meter per second, and the average pumping rate calculated by Thiem's, Smreker's, Brinkhaus' and Theis' formulae, is 919 cubic meter per day, Therefore, the ground water storage in the test areas is comparatively abundant. Correlation between pumping rates and depths of tube wells is not in existence. Also, correlation between pumping rates and the thickness of aquifer is not found in this experiment. This shows that the depths of some tube wells are deep and their thicknesses of aquifer are thick, but their ground water storages are poor, and that the depths of some tube wells are shallow and their thicknesses of aquifer are thin, but their ground water storages are abundant. It seems that the test tube wells are influenced by the peculiar characteristics that the ground water in the test areas is free ground water in alluvium layer closely related with surface water. As drawdown increases, pumping rate decreases, and as the coefficient of transmissibility increases, pumping rate also increases. Namely, there are negative correlation between pumping rate and drawdown, and positive correlation between pumping rate and the coefficient of transmissibility. Judging from the results of the pumping tests in these tests areas, the pumping rate calculated by the formula, {{{{ { Q}_{m } =Q { ( { { S}_{ m} } over { TRIANGLE S } )}^{ { 2} over {3 } } }}}} used traditionally, is likely to be higher than real pumping rates. The formula, {{{{ { Q}_{m } =Q { { H}^{ 2} } over { (2H- TRIANGLE S) TRIANGLE S} }}}} derived from Thiem's theory, is looked upon as the reasonable one to detemine pumping rates in the existing tube wells for irrigation.

  • The recent increase in demand for lithium has led to the development of new brine prospects, The brines are hosted in closed salar basin aquifers of two types that are mature halite salars and immature clastic salars. Salar brines also contain other elements of commercial interest, most notably potassium and boron. As a result, there has been a plethora of new exploration projects focused on the brines hosted in the aquifers of the intermontane-closed basins. The estimate of lithium resources and reserves in these salars depends on a detailed knowledge of aquifer geometry, porosity, and brine grade. Because the resource is in a fluid state, it has the propensity to move, mix, rearrange itself relatively rapidly during the course of a project lifetime, and lower recovery factors compared with most metalliferous and industrial mineral deposits due to reliance on pumping of the brine from wells for extraction. This is unlike any other type of metallic mineral resource and hence a different approach specially focusing on hydrogeology and brine hydrology is required for these prospects.

초임계 상태의 CO2 주입시 주입관내 유동 특성의 수치해석적 연구: 포항분지 중소규모 CO2 지중저장 실증 사업에 적용 (Numerical Analysis of Flow Characteristics in an Injection Tubing during Supercritical CO2 Injection: Application of Demonstration-scale CO2 Storage Project in the Pohang Basin, Korea)

  • 본 연구는 기존 연구에서 다루었던 기체상태의 CO2를 송출시 주입관내 상변화 및 유동특성 연구의 계속으로 액체 상태의 CO2를 송출하여 초임계 상태로 주입시의 연구 결과이다. 지중에 CO2를 저장하는 기술은 높은 주입성, 저장량 및 경제성으로 기후 변화를 완화하는 효율적인 방법중 하나이다. 심부 대수층에 CO2를 주입 및 저장하는 실증 프로젝트인 포항분지 CO2 지중저장 사업은 미래 대규모 CO2 지중 저장 사업에 필요한 기술을 개발하는데 목적이 있다. 이 사업의 설계 단계에서 고려해야 하는 문제 중 하나는 CO2를 주입시 주입관내 CO2의 상(phase)변화 및 그에 따른 유동특성의 분석이다. 이러한 문제 해결을 위해 주입량에 따른 압력, 온도 및 열역학적인 물성값 등을 계산하여 주입설비의 송출 조건을 결정한다. 본 연구를 위해 액체 상태의 CO2를 송출하고 초임계로 변하는 주입관내 상변화 및 유동 특성을 OLGA 프로그램을 사용하여 수치해석적으로 분석하였다. 결과를 통하여 CO2의 주입 시스템과 저장소의 공저압을 연계하는 주입 송출 조건을 제시하였다.

염수침입 현상의 전기비저항 분석에 대한 지구통계기법의 응용

  • Although the problem of seawater intrusion at the coastal aquifer was recognized before over one hundred years at the coastal aquifer, much groundwater keep on being salinitized by several reasons such as groundwater exhaustion, coastalline change, and human activities. The horizontal and vertical electrical soundings and geostatistical methods were used to define the local characteristics of saltwater intrusion and to estimate the saltwater interface in the southeastern area of the Pusan City. The 24 points of the Schlumberger vertical electrical soundings(VES) to loom depth and the 2 lines of dipole-dipole horizontal soundings are peformed. The resistivity data have lognormal distributions. The horizontal extents of saline water intrusion were estimated from the inversion of horizontal prospecting data. Lognormal ordinary kriging is used in A-A' resistivity profiles on May and July because the data have stationary models in semivariograms. Lognormal IRF-k kriging is used for the isopleth maps using vertical resistivity data. The 10 ohm-m resistivity line on the isopleth maps of 21m, 30m, 50m, and 70m depth using resisitivity data measured in July is sifted to the east, cpomparing that of the isopleth maps measured in May. The kriged vertical and horizontal resistivity isopleth maps suggested that the geostatistical methods can be used to define the variation of earth resistivity distribution at the saltwater interface.

Optimal field synthesis for enhancing the modeling capabilities of reservoir/aquifer fields

  • One field identified by an inverse method is one of multiple candidate solutions those are independently obtained through a specific estimation technique. While averaging of optimized fields can provide a better description of the spatial feature of an unknown field, it deteriorates the flow and transport characteristics of the optimized fields. As a result, the averaged field is not suited for modeling aquifer performances. Based on genetic algorithm, an optimal field synthesis technique is developed, which combines diversely optimized fields into a refined group of fields. Each field in the population is paired, and a sub-region of each field is exchanged by crossover operation to create a group of synthesized fields of enhanced modeling capability. The population of the fields is evolved till the synthesized fields become sufficiently similar. Applications of the optimal field synthesis to synthetic cases indicate that the objective functions of the fields assessing the modeling capabilities are further reduced after the optimal field synthesis. The identified fields from various inverse techniques may yield a range of modeling results under varied flow situations. The uncertainty is narrowed down through the optimal field synthesis and the associated modeling results converge on that of the reference field. The developed inverse modeling facilitates the construction of a reliable simulation model and hence trustworthy predictions of the future performances.

제주도지역 대수층들의 수직적 분포와 수리적 연결성

  • The environmental tracers of $^3$H and NO$_3$ were investigated in terms of vertical connections between basaltic aquifers and underlying sedimentary formations of Seoguipo formation that is not found in eastern coastal area and U formation. In western coastal area, $^3$H shows values less than 0.5TU In the wells completed in Seoguipo formation whereas it is greater than 2TU in other area. For the wells in western area, NO$_3$ concentrations are below background level though the nearby land uses are mainly agricultural. The groundwater heads are much lower in eastern coastal area than western area in spite that recharge rate of eastern area is 1.7 times higher than that of western area. The basaltic aquifer is thicker by 70m in eastern coastal area than in western coastal area, which is insufficient to explain much lower groundwater heads in eastern area. These hydrogeological characteristics suggest that for the basaltic aquifers, the Seoguipo formation acts as a lower boundary which could limit downward groundwater flow in basaltic aquifers whereas the U formation is unlikely.
