  • This study suggested an integrated classification method for generalized characteristics of PC beam-column connection according to connection details. Quantifying the failure mode of PC-beam column connection and characteristics of corresponding details, this study suggested to use deformation contribution of each element of beam-column assemblage. According to the expected failure mode of beam-column connection assemblage, PC beam-column connection can be classified into 'equivalent monolithic system' and 'jointed system'. In this study, four test specimens were tested for verification of detailed classification method of PC beam-column connections. Test was carried out with typical beam-column connection test method. Load was applied at the top of test specimen and end of beams were restrained by hinge. In order to verify the deformation contribution of each test specimen, 34-LVDTs were mounted on test specimen. According to test results, deformation contribution of each test specimen have different characteristics. Deformation characteristics of joint and other components which are quantified by test results, equivalent monolithic system can be classified into two categories. Strong connection have extremely small deformation contribution of joint and much larger deformation contribution was shown in flexural behavior of beam. The other type of beam-column connection is ductile connection which allows the larger deformation in joint area compared with strong connection.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the applicability of concept mapping in the process of planning social welfare program based on community network. Concept mapping is a kind of decision-making method that structuralized complex ideas and presented visually. Already, concept mapping is widely utilized in counseling, nursing and public health area to plan and evaluation their program and service. For recent, effectiveness of concept mapping has been reported. Concept mapping is a effective decision-making method that they recognize outcome gap between service provider and client, reach the outcome's consensus in counseling and nursing, medical area. In this study, we conceptualized 3rd year outcomes of Community Impact Project that was supported from Busan Chest using concept mapping. This CI project intervenes children and youth who lives in Buk-gu, Busan. Concept mapping has six stages-preparation, collecting ideas, structuring statements, representing statement, interpreting the results of the analysis, applying the results. We followed these steps. The participants were working at social welfare organizations, total 11 persons. We obtained 60 statements and analyzed using multidimensional scaling. we collected 5 clusters, cluster 1 'awareness and attitude change of children and youth', cluster 2 'social system change of children and youth', cluster 3 'friendly community formation', cluster 4 'community people change', cluster 5 'service provider change'. As a result, among total 5 clusters formed, 'awareness and attitude change of children and youth' came to the strongest outcomes. When concept mapping was applied to the program planning, the consensus of the opinion came easily in the decision-making process, and the participants were empowered. In addition, clear conceptualization on each element of the program planning was made.

  • The increasing use of curved beams in buildings, vehicles, ships, and aircraft has prompted studies directed toward the development of an accurate method for analyzing the dynamic behavior of such structures. The stability behavior of elastic curved beams has been the subject of a large number of investigations. Solutions of the relevant differential equations have been obtained traditionally using standard finite difference or finite element methods. These techniques require a great deal of computer time as the number of discrete nodes becomes relatively large under the conditions of complex geometry and loading. One of the efficient procedures for the solution of partial differential equations is the method of differential quadrature. The differential quadrature method (DQM) has been applied to a large number of cases to overcome the difficulties of the complex algorithms of programming for the computer, as well as the excessive use of storage due to the conditions of complex geometry and loading. The in-plane buckling of curved beams considering the extensibility of the arch axis was analyzed under uniformly distributed radial loads using the DQM. The critical loads were calculated for the member with various parameter ratios, boundary conditions, and opening angles. The results were compared with the precise results by other methods for cases, in which they were available. The DQM, using only a limited number of grid points, provided results that agreed very well (less than 0.3%) with the exact ones. New results according to diverse variations were obtained, showing the important roles in the buckling behavior of curved beams, and can be used in comparisons with other numerical solutions or with experimental test data.

  • The number of shops needed for the fabrication of a sphere type cargo tank for an LNG carrier is proportional to the size of the tank to be constructed. Due to the limitations of facility investment, it is difficult to fabricate various size tanks with a perfectly spherical shape in the (factory). An efficient method of increasing the capacity of the cargo tank is to extend the conventional sphere type LNG tank vertically by inserting a cylindrical shell structure. In this study, equations for the dynamic pressure distribution due to horizontal acceleration are derived for a sphere type LNG tank with central extension. The derived equations can be easily applied to the design and structural assessment of a sphere type LNG tank with central extension. Furthermore, the results of this study can be combined with the static design loads previously reported by Shin & Ko [9], in order to establish a simplified analysis method which enables a precise initial estimate to be obtained, thereby obviating the need for a time consuming finite element analysis.

  • The delamination is a special mode of failure occurring in composite laminates. Several numerical studies with finite element analysis have been carried out on the delamination behavior of unidirectional composite laminates. On the other hand, the fracture for the multi-directional composite laminates may occur not only along the resin-fiber interface between plies known as interply or interlaminar fracture but also within a ply known as interyarn or intralaminar fracture accompanied by matrix cracking and fiber bridging. In addition, interlaminar and intralaminar cracks appear at irregular proportions and intralaminar cracks proceeded at arbitrary angle. The probabilistic analysis method for the prediction of crack growth behavior within a layer is more advantageous than the deterministic analysis method. In this paper, we analyze the crack path when the mode I load is applied to the cross-ply carbon/epoxy composite laminates and collect and analyze the probability data to be used as the basis of the probabilistic analysis in the future. Two criteria for the theoretical analysis of the crack growth direction were proposed by analyzing the stress field at the crack tip of orthotropic materials. Using the proposed method, the crack growth directions of the cross-ply carbon/epoxy laminates were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively and compared with experimental results.

  • This paper reports the results of an acceleration test to predict the contact-induced failure that could occur at the cylinder-to-hole joint for the fuel rod of a sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR). To incorporate the fuel life of the SFR currently under development at KAERI (around 35,000 h), the acceleration test method of reliability engineering was adopted in this work. A finite element method was used to evaluate the flow-induced vibration frequency and amplitude for the test parameter values. Five specimens were tested. The failure criterion during the life of the SFR fuel was applied. The S-N curve of the HT-9, the material of concern, was used to obtain the acceleration factor. As a result, a test time of 16.5 h was obtained for each specimen. It was concluded that the $B_{0.004}$ life would be guaranteed for the SFR fuel rods with 99% confidence if no failure was observed at any of the contact surfaces of the five specimens.

  • this paper, a data modeling method based on decision-making conditions is proposed for making combat and battlefield management systems to be intelligent, which are also a decision-making support system. A picture of a robot seeing and perceiving like humans and arriving a point it wanted can be understood and be felt in body. However, we can't find an example of implementing a decision-making which is the most important element in human cognitive action. Although the agent arrives at a designated office instead of human, it doesn't support a decision of whether raising the market price is appropriate or doing a counter-attack is smart. After we reviewed a current situation and problem in control & command of military, in order to collect a big data for making a machine staff's advice to be possible, we propose a data modeling prototype based on decision-making conditions as a method to change a current control & command system. In addition, a decision-making tree method is applied as an example of the decision making that the reformed control & command system equipped with the proposed data modeling will do. This paper can contribute in giving us an insight of how a future AI decision-making staff approaches to us.

  • In this paper, we propose the α-Feature Map Scaling (α-FMS) method which extends the FMS method that was designed to enhance the discriminative power of feature maps of deep neural networks in Speaker Verification (SV) systems. The FMS derives a scale vector from a feature map and then adds or multiplies them to the features, or sequentially apply both operations. However, the FMS method not only uses an identical scale vector for both addition and multiplication, but also has a limitation that it can only add a value between zero and one in case of addition. In this study, to overcome these limitations, we propose α-FMS to add a trainable parameter α to the feature map element-wise, and then multiply a scale vector. We compare the performance of the two methods: the one where α is a scalar, and the other where it is a vector. Both α-FMS methods are applied after each residual block of the deep neural network. The proposed system using the α-FMS methods are trained using the RawNet2 and tested using the VoxCeleb1 evaluation set. The result demonstrates an equal error rate of 2.47 % and 2.31 % for the two α-FMS methods respectively.

  • In this paper, a coupling scheme for applying finite element analysis(FEA) programs, such as, LS-DYNA and MIDAS/Civil, to a nonlinear soil structure interaction analysis by the boundary reaction method(BRM) is presented. With the FEA programs, the structure and soil media are discretized by linear or nonlinear finite elements. To absorb the outgoing elastic waves to unbounded soil region as much as possible, the PML elements and viscous-spring elements are used at the outer FE boundary, in the LS-DYNA model and in MIDAS/Civil model, respectively. It is also assumed that all the nonlinear elements in the problem are limited to structural region. In this study, the boundary reaction forces for the use in the BRM are calculated using the KIESSI-3D program by solving soil-foundation interaction problem subjected to incident seismic waves. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated with a linear SSI seismic analysis problem by comparing the BRM solution with the conventional SSI solution. Numerical comparison indicates that the BRM can effectively be applied to a nonlinear soil-structure analysis if motions at the foundation obtained by the BRM for a linear SSI problem excluding the nonlinear structure is conservative.
