우리별 위성개발(衛星開發)과 우주개발정책(宇宙開發政策)의 과제(課題) (Development of KITSAT. The First Korean Satellite and Space Development Strategy)

  • Application of space technology in the field of communication and remote sensing becomes increasingly important in human life. Advancement of communications means shinks the size of our globe and that of remote sensing techniques improves the quality of human well-being. It is a world trent for each country to make its best effort in advancing its capabilities in these fields sometimes independently and other times jointly with other nations. Korea being no exception to this world trend is planning various starategies in application and development of space technologies. However, unfortunately, Korea is a new commer in this field. Statellite Technology Research Center (SaTReC) of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) initiated to aquire satellite technology by sending its graduates abroad in 1989. As a result KITSAT-1 was launched in 1992 and KITSAT- 2 was launched in 1993 and they became Korea's first two satellites in orbits. Academic program including On-the Job-Training for Korean students at the University of Surrey, UK, is also an innovative scheme of mixing education and practical know-how for successful technology transfer, which resulted in a small but very capable and effective satellite experts group in Korea for self-propelled research and development in space activities. In this context, space development strategy should be considered in terms of the following factors; (1). Participation in international space activities as an active member to utilize international organization and to contribute to the peaceful use of space, (2). Development of national defence structure for independent activities in space, (3). Enhancement of manpower utilization for space development and promotion of national pride and (4). Education of youngsters for the extension of intellectual activities into the limitless space. In order to make very costly space development project most efficient, governmental level space development organization directed by the head of nation should be established and should manage all space development programs making full use of its all available resources including the advantage of the university based R&D capability.

Liquid phase hydrogen peroxide decomposition for micro-propulsion applications

  • Hydrogen peroxide is being considered as a monopropellant in micropropulsion systems for the next generation of miniaturized satellites ('nanosats') due to its high energy density, modest specific impulse and green characteristics. Efforts at the University of Vermont have focused on the development of a MEMS-based microthruster that uses a novel slug flow monopropellant injection scheme to generate thrust and impulse-bits commensurate with the intended micropropulsion application. The present study is a computational effort to investigate the initial decomposition of the monopropellant as it enters the catalytic chamber, and to compare the impact of the monopropellant injection scheme on decomposition performance. Two-dimensional numerical studies of the monopropellant in microchannel geometries have been developed and used to characterize the performance of the monopropellant before vaporization occurs. The results of these studies show that monopropellant in the lamellar flow regime, which lacks a non-diffusive mixing mechanism, does not decompose at a rate that is suitable for the microthruster dimensions. In contrast, monopropellant in the slug flow regime decomposes 57% faster than lamellar flow for a given length, indicating that the monopropellant injection scheme has potential benefits for the performance of the microthruster.

  • 본 논문에서는 2G/3G/4G의 이동통신 기술을 기업에 적용하는 Femtocell을 이용해서 기업 무선망을 구축하는 환경을 목표로 한다. 이때 인터넷서비스사업자 혹은 기업이 이동통신망 기반의 응용 서비스를 쉽게 만들 수 있는 '개방형 무선망 Application Programming Interface(API)'를 기업향 Peer-to-Peer 서비스에 적용하는 방안에 대하여 제안한다. 이를 통해서 언제 어디서든 어떠한 기기를 통해서도 일관된 기업 서비스를 보다 단순화된 네트워 환경에서 향상된 서비스 품질과 함께 제공할 수 있다. 제안한 방안은 성능 개선을 평가하기 위하여, 대표적인 분산형 P2P 서비스인 Skype와 정성적인 성능 비교를 수행하였으며, 이를 통해서 보다 적은 개수의 서버와 절차를 지원하면서도 보다 향상된 서비스 품질을 제공하는 것을 확인 하였다.

  • In process for production of Rubber Scheme Product that have the most inferior Working Environment is Medicine mixture and Scheme processing. Applying automation and Environment Treatment technology to the hazardous chemical and mixture processing, Through developed 'Mixture Automatic Machine for hazardous chemical Interruption type that is occurred at mixing rubber medicines', we try to decline worker's intensity of labour, Also overcomes solution of work evasion phenomenon and manpower supply and demand's difficulty by forming agreeable working environment and through the automatic scheme and mixture processing by preventing that hazardous chemical had known as disease causes of various importance disease is exposed to worker during the work. and we plan to do so that production of high added value product may be available.

금속 표면 미세 결함에 대한 신뢰성 있는 실시간 3차원 형상 추출 시스템 개발 (Development of a Reliable Real-time 3D Reconstruction System for Tiny Defects on Steel Surfaces)

  • In the steel industry, the detection of tiny defects including its 3D characteristics on steel surfaces is very important from the point of view of quality control. A multi-spectral photometric stereo method is an attractive scheme because the shape of the defect can be obtained based on the images which are acquired at the same time by using a multi-channel camera. Moreover, the calculation time required for this scheme can be greatly reduced for real-time application with the aid of a GPU (Graphic Processing Unit). Although a more reliable shape reconstruction of defects can be possible when the numbers of available images are increased, it is not an easy task to construct a camera system which has more than 3 channels in the visible light range. In this paper, a new 6-channel camera system, which can distinguish the vertical/horizontal linearly polarized lights of RGB light sources, was developed by adopting two 3-CCD cameras and two polarized lenses based on the fact that the polarized light is preserved on the steel surface. The photometric stereo scheme with 6 images was accelerated by using a GPU, and the performance of the proposed system was validated through experiments.

A Context-aware Task Offloading Scheme in Collaborative Vehicular Edge Computing Systems

  • With the development of mobile edge computing (MEC), some late-model application technologies, such as self-driving, augmented reality (AR) and traffic perception, emerge as the times require. Nevertheless, the high-latency and low-reliability of the traditional cloud computing solutions are difficult to meet the requirement of growing smart cars (SCs) with computing-intensive applications. Hence, this paper studies an efficient offloading decision and resource allocation scheme in collaborative vehicular edge computing networks with multiple SCs and multiple MEC servers to reduce latency. To solve this problem with effect, we propose a context-aware offloading strategy based on differential evolution algorithm (DE) by considering vehicle mobility, roadside units (RSUs) coverage, vehicle priority. On this basis, an autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model is employed to predict idle computing resources according to the base station traffic in different periods. Simulation results demonstrate that the practical performance of the context-aware vehicular task offloading (CAVTO) optimization scheme could reduce the system delay significantly.

RI-Biomics 분야의 실무전문가 역량강화 방안연구 (A Research on the Empowerment Plan for Specialists in RI-Biomics Field)

  • Increasing utilization of radiation and RI (Radioisotope) in nuclear industry including non-power area has achieved sustainable development of radiation industry. Industries are no longer confined by a single technology or abilities but expanded for application gradually. RI-Biomics fields are one of the convergence technology that is recognized on a high-tech industry. Unlike the conventional industry, RI-Biomics field needs to various specialists to perform related task. There is no domestic training program to educate the whole process. This study aims to suggest the plan for improvement of practical skills for specialists in RI-Biomics through development of our training program. For this purpose, we have first investigated the opinion about classification scheme from experts and then analyzed the results in order to reflecting our training program. Based on analyzed results, conformity assessment was executed to organize curriculum through status of constructed device and instructor in domestic. Our training program was performed jointly with KAERI (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute). RI-Biomics center is prepared with facilities of overall experiment to improve quality of education. Due to the fact that specialists have routine task, we organized a five-day short course to reflect temporal difficulties. We performed a trial operation to 6 participants in RI-Biomics field. Through the survey for the specialists who participated in the program, we evaluated the efficiency of our training program. The results showed that participants were satisfied with the organized curriculum and educational materials. Therefore, our program is expected to be utilized as basic research data to develop feasible program for policy development and to improve practical skills in RI-Biomics.

센서 독립형 센서노드 플랫폼 구조 (A Sensor Node Platform Architecture Supporting Sensor Independency)

  • Recently, USN applications are in the early stage of commercialization. But, there are still several problems to develop USN applications. It is mainly due to the current development scheme that solution vendors makes all of them including HW, SW, sensor modules. The development of USN applications could be revitalized if three entities such as PC platform developers, PC device vendors, and application developers would do their best as in PC development. In this paper, we suggest an sensor node platform architecture supporting sensor independency to overcome the difficulty of developing USN applications. Traditional platforms like Tiny-OS and Nano-Q+ do not support such sensor independency. At first, we present a unified API for sensor independency, and also suggest an architecture to support sensor independancy. Our architecture results in the revitalization of developing USN applications.

  • In order to develope transfer alignment algorithm which achieves accurate initial alignment of slave strapdown inertial navigation system(SDINS) of a missle using master SDINS of mobile launchers third-order suboptimal filter is constructed to estimate the transformation matrix between two SDINS coordinates. In Kalman Filter formulation, the measurement equation uses that of accelerometer when stationary, and is replaced by that of gyroscope when elevating the missle. This switching method is applied to increase the degree of observability and to remove the error generated by lever arm effect. Simulation results show that the azimuth transfer error is about 0.3 mrad, and confirm that this scheme has a potential for real application.

수신 신호 세기를 이용한 선박용 실내 위치 추정 알고리즘 분석 (Analysis of Localization Scheme for Ship Application Using Received Signal Strength)

  • 최근 센서 네트워크와 같이 근거리 무선 통신 시스템에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되면서 다양한 환경에서의 무선통신 관련 연구를 수행하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 수신 신호 세기를 이용한 선박용 실내 위치 추정 알고리즘을 분석하고 각 상황에 맞는 위치 추정 알고리즘을 제안한다. 무선 네트워크로부터 수신한 신호 세기를 이용하는 위치 추정 방식은 거리 추정 후 최소 제곱법을 이용하여 추정하는 Range based 방법이 있으며 네트워크를 구성하는 고정 노드와의 특성을 이용하여 위치를 추정하는 Range free 방식이 있다. 위치 추정 기법을 적용할 수 있는 해군 함정의 모델을 기반으로 효과적인 위치 추정 알고리즘을 시뮬레이션을 통해 분석하였다.
