  • A development of an efficient 14.0~14.5GHz 3 Watt SSPA is described in this paper, which is applicable to the very small aperture terminal(VSAT) for bidirectional data and voice signal transmission in low cost and with small size. The SSPA consists of two stages of low noise amplifiers using the low noise GaAs FETs. two stages of medium power amplifiers using the medium power GaAs FETs, and three stages of power amplifiers including a balanced amplifier using an internally matched power GaAs FET. The achieved with this seven stage amplifiers are 42dB signal power gain, 7dB noise figure, 35dBm output power at 1dB gain compression point and 2.0 and 1.5 input and output VSWR respectively.

  • This paper examines the array antenna theory, basic relations between the array size (aperture) and its beamwidth and resultant patterns. This paper also provides array antenna system design criteria, mainly maximizing the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and its corresponding optimum array structure and weight functions. Explicit new expressions for array performance are also illustrated in terms of the array output SNR. An example is provided for a 37-element planar array to explicitly illustrate the beam-forming and nulling operations of the array. Fundamentals of sidelobe canceller (SLC) systems have been discussed along with a derivation of new SLC equations for optimum weights.

  • Concrete Filled steel Tube pipe structure is a rational type of structure that maximizes performance by combining the strong points of steel frame and concrete. In the structure, the confining effect of steel pipes increases the bearing power of infilled concrete and the strengthening of local bucking of steel pipes by infilled concrete increases the bearing power of members. and these result in the reduction of cross-sectional area and high transformation capacity. Moreover. the structure is economically efficient and widely applicable that it is used from super-high buildings to residential, business and apartment buildings. It enables the construction of multi-story buildings with long spans using columns of small cross-sectional area. In case of diaphragm, however, it is difficult to confirm the compactness of the closed inside of steel pipes. The present study examined the properties of super-high strength concrete over 80MPa by comparing it with 40MPa concrete through heat conductivity and length change tests based on a mixture ratio satisfying the mixture goal presented in the guideline for the design and construction of concrete-filled steel pipe structure. and evaluated the performance of super-high strength concrete according to the shape and size of the aperture ratio of diaphragm.

  • In this paper, to improve the bandwidth of microstrip antenna, we discussed parasitic patch structure coupled capacitively at radiating slot. To reduce the overal size of antenna,$\lambda$/4 short structure is accepted instead of $\lambda$/2 patch. Since ground plane is reduced, backward radiation is occurred. The characteristics of the designed antenna is evaluated, based on the transmission line model and the aperture analysis method. And by computer program the radiation pattern and return loss are evaluated. As simulation results, backward radiation is -15 dB. Bandwidth of constructed antenna is 167 MHz at the resonant frequency of 2.45 GHz, which is very broad, compared to conventional microstrip antennas. Therefore the proposed antenna will be suitable for very wide bandwidth communications.

  • In this paper, a broadband microstrip antenna for PCS and IMT-2000 service is designed. To obtain the broadband characteristics of an antenna, we utilized the multi-layered structure composed of two foam material layers, parasitic element and aperture coupled feeding network. The broadband characteristic is obtained by changing the size of parasitic element and the height of foam materials. In addition to that, the usage of metal layer at the distance of λ/4 from feed-line, back radiation is reduced. The bandwidth of a single element for VSWR less than 1.3 is about 550MHz. The bandwidth of a designed 1$\times$4 array antenna for VSWR less than 1.3 is about 460MHz. The gain of a designed array antenna is about 11.15∼12.15dBi and the front-to-back ratio is about 30dB.

  • Focused Ar ion laser beam can be utilized to fabricate microstructures on silicon substrate as well as other materials(e.g. such as ceramic). The laser using in this study is an argon ion laser with maximum power of 6 W, wavelength of 514 nm. This laser beam is focused by objectives with a high numerical aperture, a long working distance. We have achieved line width about 1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ with high scan speed. The resolution for Si machining is determined by the selectivity of the chemical reaction rather than the laser spot size. In this study, we have obtained the maximum etch rate of 434.7 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$/sec with high aspect ratio. The characteristics of etched groove was investigated by scanning electron microscope(SEM) and auger electron spectroscopy(AES). It is assumed that the technique using arson ion laser is applicab1e to fabricate microstructures.

  • We have investigated experimentally a nano patterning using electron beam lithography for the nickel stamper fabrication. Recently, DVD and Blu-ray disk(BD) have nano-scale patterns in order to increase the storage density. Specially, BD has 100nm-scale patterns which are generally fabricated by electron beam lithography. In this paper, we found optimum condition of electron-beam lithography for 100nm-scale patterning. We controlled various conditions of EHP(acceleration voltage), beam current, dose and aperture size in order to obtain optimum conditions. We used 100nm-thick PMMA layer on a silicon wafer as photoresist. We found that EHP was the most dominant factor in electron-beam lithography.

  • The next generation of optical storage systems requires higher numerical aperture(NA) objective lenses and shorter wavelength laser in order to improve the unit areal density. A blu-ray technology satisfies a miniaturization and a high capacity which are the requirements of the portable device. In this paper, we analyze the optical performance of hybrid micro lens and do active alignment. The hybrid micro lens is manufactured by using a wafer based fabrication technology. Optical components of hybrid micro lens are evaluated. The measurement of the optical power, the spot size and the wavefront error are performed to evaluate the hybrid micro lens with NA 0.85. Using the measured data, we estimate if the performance of hybrid micro lens corresponds to the designed performance. After the performance of hybrid micro lens is evaluated. the integrated optical pickup and the hybrid micro lens are assembled by active alignment using UV curing and the optical performance of SFFOP is satisfied with BD specifications.

  • In astronomical observation, sequential device control and real-time data processing are important to maximize observing efficiency. We have developed series of automatic observing software (KAOS, KHU Automatic Observing Software), e.g. KAOS30 for the 30 inch telescope in the McDonald Observatory and KAOS76 for the 76 cm telescope in the KHAO. The series consist of four packages: the DAP (Data Acquisition Package) for CCD Camera control, the TCP (Telescope Control Package) for telescope control, the AFP (Auto Focus Package) for focusing, and the SMP (Script Mode Package) for automation of sequences. In this poster, we introduce KAOS10 which is being developed for controlling a small telescope such as aperture size of 10 cm. The hardware components are the QHY8pro CCD, the QHY5-II CMOS, the iOptron CEM 25 mount, and the Stellarvue SV102ED telescope. The devices are controlled on ASCOM Platform. In addition to the previous packages (DAP, SMP, TCP), KAOS10 has QLP (Quick Look Package) and astrometry function in the TCP. QHY8pro CCD has RGB Bayer matrix and the QLP transforms RGB images into BVR images in real-time. The TCP includes astrometry function which adjusts the telescope position by comparing the image with a star catalog. In the future, We expect KAOS10 be used on the research of transient objects such as a variable star.

  • Menyanthes trifoliata L., a heterostyly plant, is an endangered species in Korea. Floral morphology has been published for M. trifoliata, but few works have concentrated on pollen dimorphism differences accompanied by floral dimorphism. Here, we conducted a comparative morphological study of two morphs to investigate a dimorphism system with Korean populations. Pollen morphological characteristics were observed with a light microscope and a scanning electron microscope. For the pin type, pollen size is 36.01 ± 2.01 ㎛, whereas for the thrum type it is 41.28 ± 2.58 ㎛ in terms of the equatorial diameter. The two morphs have a small apocolpium field at 5.62 ± 0.30 for the pin type and 6.24 ± 0.70 for the thrum type. The configuration of the aperture was tricolpate with a striate ridge in the two morphs. However, they have different pollen shapes and sizes, stigma shapes, and apocolpium sizes. M. trifoliata only has different pollen sizes and shapes between European populations and Korean populations. Nevertheless, Korean populations also show pollen dimorphism correlated with their floral dimorphism.
