Verification on the Reduction Technique of Measurement Time of Total Radiated Power (TRP) by Using Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) in 5G Frequency Band (유효등방복사전력(EIRP)을 활용한 5G 주파수 대역 총복사전력(TRP) 측정시간의 단축방안 검증)

  • In this paper, we described the verification results on method by using the computer simulation and practical experiment for reduction of total radiated power (TRP) measurement time consuming tens of hours. TRP measurements are used in the 5G band in order to exactly evaluate the wireless communication equipment, but it takes a long measurement time because of dense sampling interval. Moreover, if there are various beam forming scenarios, the total measurement time increases exponentially. Therefore, the world-wide research on reduction method of the TRP measurement time is intensively on going. The verified method in this paper is to calculate the TRP through effective isotropical radiated power (EIRP). At first, the relation of TRP and EIRP was investigated, and an antenna for testing was designed and constructed. And, the amount of error was analyzed through simulation and measurement. The analysed results showed that the derived TRP through EIRP has very small error. This method could be applied for TRP measurements of 5G wireless communication equipments.

  • Generally, in the best-known Pulse-type type and Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave(FM/CW)-type RF range measurement systems, the nearest measurable distance between antenna of system and targets is limited to several tens of meters. Moreover, in case of high-speed targets it is more difficult to measure the distance precisely. In this paper we design our own RF(X-band) range(up to 15 meters) measurement system usi code correlation for high- speed targets. It 0 the correlation value between transmitting receiving PN (Pseudo -Noise) codes. So we determine the distance between antenna of s and targets using this correlation value. SAR Analysis on the Coaxial-Slot Antenna for Hyperthermia (Hyperthermia용 Coaxial-Slot 안테나의 SAR 분석)

  • Performance of the applicator for hyperthermia is determined by both the degree of impedance matching and specific absorption rate(SAR) distribution in the surrounding tissue. In this paper, the coaxial-slot antenna using staircasing approximation in the FDTD is analyzed and the coaxial-slot antenna for the hyperthermia improving heating characteristics is designed. The SAR of the coaxial-slot antenna approximated to staircasing and square model is analyzed, and the SAR of staircasing model is compared with Saito's SAR measurement and square model. As a result, the SAR of proposed model exhibited agreement with the Saito's measurement of square model. Ig averaged SAR on the liver caused by proposed antenna in this paper is 195 W/kg, and is about 27.9 % higher than the Saito's antenna 152.5 W/kg, respectively.

  • In this paper, design of a UWB MIMO antenna for an on-body application is proposed and antenna performance with body effect and the impact on the human body are investigated. The proposed MIMO antenna is composed of UWB antenna above ground plane and an additional plunger shaped isolator located between the two monopole antennas to enhance the isolation characteristic. The simulation and measurement are performed to analyze the effect of the human body on antenna performance when the human body is located in the near field of the antenna. According to the measurement results, the measured SAR values for antennas 1 and 2 are 0.132 W/kg and 0.08 W/kg, respectively when 0.5 mW input power is delivered. These values satisfy the FCC guideline which ragulates that the 1-g average SAR should be lower than 1.6 W/kg.

  • This study was conducted to develop a grain moisture meter using microwave free space transmission technique at X-band frequency. The 10.5GHz microwave oscillator using a dielectric resonator was designed and fabricated to transmit electromagnetic wave through standard horn antenna to a sample holder with the wetted Hwasung and Chuchung rough rice(12.00∼26.25%). To detect the output voltage of transmitted wave from receiving horn antenna, the detector was composed of shottkey diode and RF impedance matching circuit. The regression model for measurement of grain moisture content was developed. Its correlation coefficient and standard error of prediction (SEP) were found to be 0.9882 and 0.657 respectively between measure and predicted moisture contents.

The Improvement of Characteristics of The Applicator Using Semi-rigid Coaxial Cable Antenna for RFA (반강체 동축케이블 안테나를 이용한 RFA용 어플리케이터의 특성 개선)

  • Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) as one of the microwave hyperthermia is becoming the treatment of choice for small but inoperable tumors of the liver. In this paper, we designed the applicator composed of semi-rigid coaxial cable antenna with a ring slot for RFA. To optimize the maximum output of radiation with omni direction at 2450 ㎒, we simulated the applicator using Electromagnetic simulation program and analyzed the return loss and the electric field E$\_$tot/ at the near-field region between the simulation results and measurement results. As a result, we obtained the return loss of -29.786 dB at 2450 ㎒ when the applicator was placed between two blocks of a pig's liver, and the measurement results agreed with the simulation results well. Therefore, this applicator using semi-rigid coaxial cable antenna with a ring slot can be used very usefully as the applicator for RFA.

  • A vehicle antenna for AM, FM, TDMB, GPS systems was designed and implemented. Omnidirectional AM antenna was designed by ferrite turn style antenna. For the FM and TDMB antenna, folded monopole antenna which helical is folded was applied. GPS antenna for the bandwidth achievement was designed by trapezoidal microstrip patch that has air substrate. Receiving signal strengths by the measurement were presented for the AM, FM and TDMB antenna. AM signal strength was -65.7 dBm, this strength is almost as same conventional pole antenna as -63.4 dBm. It can be replaced conventional pole or glass antenna by the studied antenna. Signal strengths for FM and TDMB were -55.66 and -43.50 dBm at center frequency, they are 5~10 dB higher than conventional antenna. Measurements of bandwidth and gain for the GPS antenna showed 135 MHz under VSWR 2 : 1 and 4.31 dBi, gains over GPS band were 3~5 dB higher than ceramic patch antenna.

  • To describe the performance of an antenna, some parameters are necessary. Some of the parameters are interrelate and not all of them must be specified for complete description of antenna performance. The parameters in characteristics of printed antenna for this analysis are radiation pattern, input impedance, VSWR, S parameter and electromagnetic field. In this paper we will consider two shaped of slot antennas one is triangular slot antenna and other is L - shape slot antenna for compare the radiation pattern, return loss, and VSWR. Two slot antennas are designed to have a resonant frequency at 10 GHz. The microstrip line is designed to be 50 ohms in order to match the measurement system, it has the substrate of the thickness = 1.52 mm and dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}_r$) 2.17. The problem space in the FDTD analysis are $60{\times}123{\times}100$ cells for L-shape slot antenna and $50{\times}171{\times}120$ cells for triangular slot antenna with the cell dimensions ${\Delta}x=0.152\;mm.$, ${\Delta}y={\Delta}z=0.15\;mm.$

  • Recently, there is developed various antenna's models due to increment of wireless communication the need of quantitative study on antenna's measuring technology gets to highlight. In this paper, we propose algorithm of antenna's edge alignment for making automatic measuring system of antenna's characteristics of near-field measurement system of antenna. The proposed algorithm gets the bottom image of antenna from camera, extracts antenna object, and finds the boundary the object. The proposed algorithm calculates distortion of the object using the extracted boundary and the angle to correct this. The proposed algorithm is applied to the standard gain horn antenna. The results show that antenna's object is efficiently extracted and the angle for correcting the error is calculated.

  • Our new metamaterial structure patch antenna improves the gain of ordinary metamaterial patch antenna. The structure of new metamaterial cover is made by removing central $7{\times}7$ lattices out of $9{\times}9$ lattices. Also, the metamaterial covers can be easily fabricated using ordinary substrates. Measurement results of a patch antenna, a metamaterial patch antenna and our proposed metamaterial patch antenna show that the gain of the proposed metamaterial patch antenna is about 3dB higher than that of the ordinary metamaterial patch antenna.
