  • Although there are various cultural events and cultural contents produced in the region, there is a lack of distribution and spread of regional information to expand related economic consumption. This study combined local advertising by local advertisers with the knowledge search method in question and answer format from a location-based service perspective for the purpose of spreading and using local cultural information. The approach looked at domestic and international cases of knowledge search based on region and location-based advertising research, presented community model of location inquiry based information service and revenue model of local advertisement. Through this, this study designed a question and answer based community and operational structure model of local advertising, and developed an information service system in the form of prototyping. By extending the distribution of question and answer data among users to location information, it is meaningful that a business service model was presented that combines local cultural content information and the demand for user access with the revenue model of local advertising.

  • College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) is a primary test to evaluate the study achievement of high-school students and used by most universities for admission decision in South Korea. Because its level of difficulty is a significant issue to both students and universities, the government makes a huge effort to have a consistent difficulty level every year. However, the actual levels of difficulty have significantly fluctuated, which causes many problems with university admission. In this paper, we build two types of data-driven prediction models to predict correct answer rate and to identify significant factors for CSAT English test through accumulated test data of CSAT, unlike traditional methods depending on experts' judgments. Initially, we derive candidate question-specific factors that can influence the correct answer rate, such as the position, EBS-relation, readability, from the annual CSAT practices and CSAT for 10 years. In addition, we drive context-specific factors by employing topic modeling which identify the underlying topics over the text. Then, the correct answer rate is predicted by multiple linear regression and level of difficulty is predicted by classification tree. The experimental results show that 90% of accuracy can be achieved by the level of difficulty (difficult/easy) classification model, whereas the error rate for correct answer rate is below 16%. Points and problem category are found to be critical to predict the correct answer rate. In addition, the correct answer rate is also influenced by some of the topics discovered by topic modeling. Based on our study, it will be possible to predict the range of expected correct answer rate for both question-level and entire test-level, which will help CSAT examiners to control the level of difficulties.

  • The purpose of this study is to specify the quality of I-R-E pattern and question-answer affiliation between students and teacher, depending on teacher's career. This study analyzes 6 classroom discourse texts of 6th grade science class. The results of this study are as follows. First, in the case of a newly appointed teacher, I-R-E pattern is appeared repeatedly. Second, in the case of experienced teachers, expended I-R-E pattern is appeared compare with a newly appointed teacher. Third, in the case of a newly appointed teacher, independence relational structure is appeared more repeatedly than other structures. But, in the case of experienced teachers, all kinds of question-answer structures - independence, parallel, insertion, and reorganization relational structure - are appeared more evenly.

  • We propose a method utilizing BLEU(BiLingual Evaluation Understudy), which is widely used in automatic evaluation of machine translations, for an autonomous assessment of a short essay answer. BLEU evaluates translations with an assumption that the translation by a machine is supposed to be more accurate as it is getting to be more similar to the translation by a human. BLEU scores the translation by comparing the n-grams of translations by a machine and humans. Similarly we score students answers by comparing to multiple reference answers with BLEU. In the experiment, we compute correlation coefficient values between scores of our system and human instructors.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the education effect about AIDS related knowledge & attitude in industrial workers. This study examined the workers' knowledge and attitude at two times. (before education, 3days after education) This study 298 admitted workers on 3 work place who participated in health education by video material. Data were gathered from 1994. 12. 12 to 1994. 12. 22. The results were as follow: 1. The level of knowledge about AIDS; The correct answer mean score of knowledge before education was 13.7 out of 28. The correct answer mean score of knowledge after education was 17.6 out of 28. 2. The education effect about AIDS related knowledge according to 28 questions; Almost of questions were significantly increased correct answer rate about AIDS related knowledge except 2 questions. 3. The education effect about AIDS related knowledge according to workers' general characteristics: The significant general characteristics of health education effect that impact on the knowledge score were women, the teenth, the twentieth, unmarrige state, lower senior high school graduated, sexual experience had or not, over five occupational career, education time, health education experience had or not. 4. The education effect of AIDS related attitude: Significant change of attitude related AIDS were found 7 out of 9 questions.

  • Word mismatch is the most significant problem that causes low performance in question classification, whose questions consist of only two or three words that expressed in many different ways. So, it is necessary to apply word association in question classification. In this paper, we propose question classification method using translation-based language model, which use word translation probabilities for question-question pair that is learned in the same category. In the experiment, we prove that translation probabilities of question-question pairs in the same category is more effective than question-answer pairs in total collection.

  • On the Inherent (non-) Negativity of Negative Sensitive Items. This paper explores the idea that Korean Negative Sensitive Items, which are better viewed as Negative Concord Items (NCIs) (Kim 2001, 2006, Watanabe 2004), should not be construed as inherently negative in spite of the fact that NCIs are able to appear as an elided form without the presence of a negative licenser. Among several diagnostics, which are designed to draw syntactic and semantic distinctions between traditional Negative Polarity Items (NPIs) and NCIs employed in previous studies, the ability of an NCI to appear as a fragment answer raises the question of whether the negativity of NCIs is inherent or not. Contrary to Kim (2001, 2006) and Watanabe (2004), who are in favor of the inherent negativity of NCIs, I claim that non-negative Korean NCIs still need contentful negation to be licensed, and therefore their ability to appear as a fragment answer should be considered as a matter of ellipsis, in support of Giannakidou (2000, 2006). The main argument will be strengthened by the fact that Korean NCIs do not express negative meaning themselves, and that double negation readings are not allowed no matter how many NCIs occur simultaneously.

  • This study suggests a framework which extracts features of collective intelligence from social Q&A community sites and takes advantage of those features upon vertical search for domain specific knowledge or information retrieval. One source of collective intelligence on the internet is the question and answer(Q&A) data available from many Q&A sites. Vertical search is focused on searching special areas or specific domains. This paper proposes a framework for extending the relevant terms by using Q&A information connected with query that the user wants to retrieve, and then applies them to specific domain field that requires professional and detailed knowledge.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of height cognition ability according to dominant or non-dominant eye. Methods: Forty one healthy adults (male: 19, female: 22, 22-43 years) participated in this study. Hole in the card test was performed to identify dominant eye. To figure out height cognition ability between dominant and non-dominant eye, we had subjects answer which point is higher or even on the monitor. Results: The Right answer on dominant eye was $8.15{\pm}1.44$ point and the right answer on non-dominant eye was $7.56{\pm}1.55$ point. There was a statistically significant difference between dominant eye group and non-dominant eye group (p<.05). Conclusion: We think that the dominant eye may be used for reliable diagnosis. In future study, investigate on relation between dominant hand and dominant eye and the difference of dominant eye and non-dominant eye when to palpation are required.

  • Question Answering (QA) services can provide exact answers to user questions written in natural language form. This research focuses on how to build a QA system for a specific domain area. Online and offline QA system architecture of targeted domain such as domain detection, question analysis, reasoning, information retrieval, filtering, answer extraction, re-ranking, and answer generation, as well as data preparation are presented herein. Test results with an official Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) set showed 68% accuracy of the top 1 and 77% accuracy of the top 5. The contribution of each part such as question analysis system, document search engine, knowledge graph engine and re-ranking module for achieving the final answer are also presented.
