tisue disease of dog and cat, resembling Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) in man. EDS is characterizedby loose, hyperextensible and, fragile skin, it is attributed to mutations in connective tisue gene. Thesemutations cause defects in type I or II collagen synthesis and as a result lack of strength or elasticityto skin, joint, ligament and vessels. EDS-affected animals often experience subcutaneous hematomas thathave long bleeding times. The 4-years old male Yorkshire terrier was evaluated because of subcutaneoushematoma after stifle surgery. Clinical examination revealed a thin and hyperextensible skin and jointlaxity. The degree of skin extensibility index was 23.4%, marked skin stretchy. Clinical diagnosis wasconfirmed by histophathological examination of a skin biopsy revealing reduced packing density ofcollagen fiber of skin.

A 3-year-old female Cocker Spaniel dog acutely developed hepatopathy following ingestion of root of Cycad (Cycas revoluta). Seven hours after the ingestion, she showed acute continuous nausea, vomiting, and marked depression and was presented to the local veterinary clinic. At physical evaluation, the dog showed moderate weakness, pale mucous membrane, jaundice, and dehydration. Serum biochemical analysis revealed elevated alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase, and mild azotemia. The dog was treated with intravenous fluid, antibiotics, and hepatic protectants for 10 days and recovered without any sequela. Although the ingestion of Cycad in dogs is rare, it can be treated successfully with appropriate supportive therapy.

A 6 months old, 20.5 kg female Golden Retriever dog was presented with bilateral exophthalmos and no protrusion of the third eyelid. Based on the patient's history, clinical signs, physical examination and ophthalmologic examination, extraocular myositis (EOM) was diagnosed. The exophthalmos was reduced after 7 days and disappeared after 14 days of corticosteroids treatment. Discontinuation of corticosteroids treatment can lead to recurrence of EOM, but in this case there was no recurrence for 2 months. This is the first reported case of canine extraocular myositis in Korea.

In order to evaluation of prevalence of rotavirus and/or coronavirus, forty suckling Korean indigenous calves (between 2 and 98 days old) with acute diarrhea were investigated by the immunochromatographic rapid test in the field (veterinary practice) on October and on December 2006. Rotavirus and coronavirus were detected in 13 (32.5%) and 8 (20.0%) of the fecal samples from diarrheal calves, respectively. The highest mortality rate in diarrheal calves occurred in the neonatal period from 2 to 7 days old. Totally, 40.0% of diarrheal calves showing acute enteritis were not detected with rotavirus and/or coronavirus. The rotavirus infection rate was significantly difference (p<0.05) between October and December, and the detection rate of rotavirus was bigger than that of coronavirus. These results suggested that rotavirus can be frequently associated with acute diarrhea of suckling calves and affected with changes of temperature.

An acute enteric diseases accompanied with vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, pyrexia, dehydration and high mortality has occured in dogs throughout the country since June, 1981 in Korea. According to epidemiological and clinico-pathological studies on the total of 44 dogs admitted to the animal clinic in the college, the cases were tentatively diagnosed as a viral enteritis and the possibility of canine parvovirus as the etiological agent for the cases was discussed.

forty-five claw lamed cows with pododermatitis circumscripta, hyperplasia interdigitalis, and dermatitis verrucosa were treated surgically through resection of necrotic tissues, currettage, antibiotics application, and compressive bandage, under retrograde intravenous regional anesthesia of claw. At 7 days postoperation were showed lameness score 0, absense of swelling of extremitis, without fistulation and purulent exudate in wound. Mean duration time of action of local anesthetic drug was 75 minutes and mean operation time for treatment of pododermatitis circumscripta, hyperplasia interdigitalis, and dermatitis verrucosa was 35 minutes, 20 minutes, and 21 minutes, respectively.

A 16-year-old cat presented with a 2-week history of anorexia and lethargy. Radiography revealed a soft-tissue opacity, heart-shaped mass between the descending colon and urinary bladder. Ultrasonography showed a large uterine body with a heterogeneously hypoechoic, thickened wall and hypoechoic intraluminal fluid. Computed tomography revealed a large, fluid-filled uterine mass with contrast enhancement, without evidence of regional lymph node or pulmonary metastasis. Ovariohysterectomy was performed and leiomyosarcoma was confirmed by histology. No notable abnormalities were observed during the 1-year postoperative follow-up periods. This report describes the diagnostic imaging and treatment of a rare case of feline uterine leiomyosarcoma.

In these days, it is serious problem to inappropriately eliminate in the home. There are many reasons why a pet might eliminate in the home. A ten-month-old, female, Jindo dog with a history of inappropriate elimination was presented to the Animal Behavior Clinic at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Gyeongsang National University. This problem was diagnosed by submissive and excitement urination based on the questionnaires and interviews on the dog with the owner. Behavioral modifications including ignorance and counterconditioning were recommended to improve the clinical signs. After two weeks following the initial consultation, submissive and excitement urination of the dog was alleviated, and after four months, it resolved completely, to the owner's satisfaction.
