Maximum Power Point Tracking Control Scheme for Grid Connected Variable Speed Wind Driven Self-Excited Induction Generator

  • This paper proposes a wind energy conversion system connected to a grid using a self-excited induction generator (SEIG) based on the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control scheme. The induction generator (IG) is controlled by the MPPT below the base speed and the maximum energy can be captured from the wind turbine. Therefore, the stator currents of the IG are optimally controlled using the indirect field orientation control (IFOC) according to the generator speed in order to maximize the generated power from the wind turbine. The SEIG feeds a (CRPWM) converter which regulates the DC-link voltage at a constant value where the speed of the IG is varied. Based on the IG d-q axes dynamic model in the synchronous reference frame at field orientation, high-performance synchronous current controllers with satisfactory performance are designed and analyzed. Utilizing these current controllers and IFOC, a fast dynamic response and low current harmonic distortion are attained. The regulated DC-link voltage feeds a grid connected CRPWM inverter. By using the virtual flux orientation control and the synchronous frame current regulators for the grid connected CRPWM inverter, a fast current response, low harmonic distortion and unity power factor are achieved. The complete system has been simulated with different wind velocities. The simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed MPPT control scheme for a wind energy system. In the simulation results, the d-q axes current controllers and DC-link voltage controller give prominent dynamic response in command tracking and load regulation characteristics.

  • A new low conduction loss, low cost zero-voltage-transition power factor correction circuit(PFC) is presented. Conventional PFC which consists of a bridge diode and a boost converter(one switch) always has three semiconductor conduction drops. Two switch type PFCs reduces conduction loss by reducing one conduction drop but the cost is increased because of increased number of active switches. The proposed PFC reduces conduction loss with one switch, which allows low cost. Conduction loss improvement is a little bit less than that of two switch type, but very close up. Operation and features are comparatively illustrated and verified by simulation and experimental results of 1 kW laboratory prototype.

  • In this paper, a Gm-C filter for low voltage and low power applications using a fully-differential transconductor is presented. The designed transconductor using the series composite transistors and the low voltage composite transistors has wide input range at low supply voltage. A negative resistor load (NRL) technology for high DC gain of the transconductor is employed with a common mode feedback (CMFB). As a design example, the third-order Elliptic lowpass filter is designed. The designed filter is simulated and examined by HSPICE using 0.25${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS n-well parameters. The simulation results show 105MHz cutoff frequency and 2.4㎽ power dissipation with a 2.5V supply voltage.

  • 본 논문에서는 로터 블레이드, 발전기, 로터 블레이드와 발전기에 연결된 고/저속 회전축 및 회전축간의 회전력을 전달하는 기어 시스템 등 다수의 몸체가 서로 상대적인 운동이 가능한 채 연결되어 있는 단일로터 수평축 풍력발전 시스템을 다몸체 시스템으로 간주한 후, 다몸체 역학을 이용한 풍력발전 시스템 모델링 기법을 제안하였다. 이를 기반으로 풍력발전 시스템의 성능 해석을 위한 시뮬레이터를 개발하였다. 그리고 다양한 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안된 풍력발전 시스템 모델링 기법과 시뮬레이터의 타당성을 검증하였다.

저 전력 전하 재활용 롬 구조 (A Low Power Charge Recycling ROM Architecture)

  • 새로운 저전력 전하 재활용 롬(charge recycling ROM) 구조를 제안하였다. 전하 재활용 롬은 전력 소모를 줄이기 위하여 전체 롬에서의 소모전력의 약90%를 소모하는 비트라인(bit line)에 전하 재활용 방식을 사용한 롬이다. 제안된 방식을 사용하였을 경우, 비트라인의 수가 무한이 많고 감지 증폭기(sense amplifier)가 무한히 미세한 전압차를 감지할 수 있다면, 롬의 비트라인은 전력을 거의 소모하지 않는다. 그러나, 실제 존재하는 감지 증폭기는 매우 작은 전압차를 감지할 수 없기 때문에, 롬에서의 전력 감소량은 제한된다. 모의 실험 결과는 전하 재활용 롬이 기존의 저 전력 콘택트 프로그래밍 롬(contact programming ROM)의 13% ∼ 78% 전력만을 소모함을 보여준다.

  • Conventionally, for transferring the primary power to the secondary one, the high frequency series resonant converter has been widely used for the contactless power supply system. However, the high frequency series resonant converter has the disadvantages such as the low efficiency, the high voltage gain characteristics and deviation of the phase angle in the overall load range. To improve this disadvantages, In this paper, the characteristics of the high efficiency and unit voltage gain as well as in-phase are revealed in the proposed three-level LCLC (Inductor-Capacitor- Inductor-Capacitor) resonant converter. The results are verified on the simulation based on the theoretical analysis and the 4kW experimental Prototype.

  • 본 논문에서는 전력증폭기의 효율을 증가시키기 위해서 모드변환 가능한 단권변압기를 제안한다. 모드변환 가능한 단권변압기를 통해 전력증폭기의 저 전력 모드 동작 시 효율을 개선할 수 있다. 이 논문에서는 0.18-${\mu}m$ CMOS 표준 공정을 이용하여 듀얼모드 단권변압기를 이용한 CMOS 전력증폭기를 설계하였다. 고 전력 모드와 저 전력 모드에서 단권변압기의 1차 권선의 권선수를 조절하여 전력증폭기의 동작을 최적화하였다. EM 시뮬레이션 및 전체 회로 시뮬레이션 결과 제안된 멀티모드 CMOS 전력증폭기의 출력전력이 24dBm일 때 전력부가효율(PAE)이 10.4%에서 멀티모드 동작으로 26.1% 로 상승하여 전력증폭기의 성능 개선되었다.

  • All the power generating station require dc auxiliary power systems to operate those dc components that must be available if a loss of ac power occur. Some examples of such components are auxiliary motors, circuit breakers, relays and solenoids. The dc source may be one common battery for both power and control or two separate batteries; one for power and another for control. Typically, a dc auxiliary power system is designed as an ungrounded system, instead of grounded system, so that a low-resistance ground fault on one of its two polarities will not affect the operation of the system, thus increasing system reliability and continuity of service. A ground detector should provide a high polarity-to-ground resistance so that a single ground fault occurring on the system will not affect the operation of that system. Sensitive relays have been known to energize momentarily while the cable and capacitive charge to ground shifts[1]. A power station had experienced this kind of incident and performed root cause analysis based on PC based simulation program known as PSpice. This simulation showed adapted relays on the system energize momentarily and design criteria on this relay should be corrected.

  • 본 논문에서는 블루투스에서 사용할 0.25$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS 공정을 이용한 고이득 저잡음 증폭기를 설계하였다. 설계한 저잡음 증폭기는 캐스코드 인버터를 이용하였으며, 레퍼런스 전압원을 가지고 쵸크 인덕터를 사용하지 않는 1단으로 설계하였다. 기존 1단으로 설계된 저잡음 증폭기의 10~15dB의 낮은 전력이득을 개선한 구조이다. 설계된 2.4GHz 저잡음 증폭기는 2.2dB의 NF값과 21dB의 높은 전력이득을 가지고 있으며, 2.5V 공급 전원에서 255mW 소모전력을 갖는다

  • This paper describes an SRAM write driver circuit which dissipates small power. The write driver utilizes a dual sized transistor structure to reduce operating current in the write cycle. In the case of higher voltage comparing to Vcc, only one transistor is active, while in the case of low Vcc two transistors are active so as to deliver the current twice. Thus though with the high voltage operation, the power consumption is reduced with keeping the speed in a given specification. Simulation results have verified the functionality of the new circuit and write power is reduced by 7 % per bit.
