  • The analysis of the springback is done based on the stress of sheet after forming. Therfore, it is important to get the accurate stress from forming analysis. In this study, some parameters that influence on the accuracy of the springback estimation are investigated. Discretization of sheet and tools, choice of penalty constant and damping in contact treatment, and tool speed scaling are chosen as parameters. As a numerical example, the 2D draw bending benchmark problem of the NUMISHEET'93 is used. Also, the springback results of the s-rail benchmark problem of the NUMISHEET'96 are presented.

  • In recent, the requirement of remote control of hychaulic system is in- creasing. The actuator unit whose output position is proportional to input electrical signal needs a pressure reducer and a dump valve. The pressure reducer provides a constant regulated pressure and filters contaminants. The dump valve supplies proper pressure to the pressure reducer and unloads when the system is not operated. In this thesis, dump valve and pressure reducer with auxiliary function are studied. The choke in the pressure reducer prevents actuator from supplying higher pressure than necessary pressure at beginning, and the spring constant affects on the dynamic characterisics. In dump valve, it is proved that diameter of servo-slide hold and choke diameter of dump plunger affects on damping response.

  • Experimental studies for the high damping rubber bearing, lead rubber bearing and natural rubber bearing, those are often used to improve the seismic capacity if the structure recently, are conducted to evaluate the seismic capacity of the seismic isolation bearings. The shear stiffness of the bearings decrease and the shear strain amplitude or the constant axial load level increase, but not sensitive to the strain rate effect. Bearings are strong for the axial compression but weak for the axial tension.

  • Explicit dynamic finite element analysis has been used widely in the field of sheet metal forming. However in using the analysis technique there are some parameters which are not clearly defined so that engineers may obtain inaccurate solutions In the present study parameters such as time step damping ratio penalty constant and punch speed were investigated on their influence to the solution behavior. Considered forming processes are plane stain bending by a punch and axisymmetric deep drawing.

  • In this paper, a self-tuning optimal control algorithm is proposed to retain the optimal performance of an active suspension system, when the vehicle has some time varying parameters and parameter uncertainties. We consider a 2 DOF time-varying quarter car model which has the parameter variation of sprung mass, suspension spring constant and suspension damping constant. Instead of solving algebraic riccati equation on line, we propose a neural network approach as an alternative. The optimal feedback gains obtained from the off line computation, according to parameter variations, are used as the neural network training data. When the active suspension system is on, the parameters are identified by the recursive least square method and the trained neural network controller designer finds the proper optimal feedback gains. The simulation results are represented and discussed.

  • In this paper, the stability of a flexible missle, idealized as a free-free beam, is evaluated by using the finite element method. For the study, heavy machinery part is modeled as a concentrated mass and the thrust, which is controlled by a feedback sensor located at a predetermined position, is considered as a constant follower force. The aerodynamic forces, the structural damping, the cross sectional variation servo lag effect are neglected in this study. With unconstrained variational principle, the finite element method is applied to the nondimensionalized beam eqution. The matrix eigenvalue equation is obtained and the eigenvalues are calculated by a computer for the stability analysis. The stability is evaluated by the inspection of the eigenvalues are calculated by a computer for the stabilith analysis. The stabilith is evaluated by the inspection of the eigenvalues of the problem. For the study, the behaviors of the eigenvalues at various thrusts and the effects of the magnitudes and positions of the concentrated mass and directional control constant are analyzed.

  • Speed sensors are required for the vector control of induction motors. These sensors reduce the sturdiness of the system and make it expensive. Therefore, a drive system without speed sensors is required. Also, the rotor inertia constant, the damping constant and the disturbed load torque of the IM are estimated by the RLS estimator and a torque observer. Then the observed disturbance torque is fed forward to increase the robustness of the IM speed drive.

  • Dynamics of a rotating cantilever beam near its critical angular speed is investigated in this paper. The external, force is idealized as a periodic function which has the same period as the rotati ng frequency of the beam. The equations of motion are derived and transformed into a dimensionless form. A prescribed spin-up motion is employed for the rotating motion. Numerical study shows that the steady state and the transient responses of the beam are affected by the spin-up time constant and there exists a time constant at which the maximum transient response becomes minimum.
