Samples with nominal compositions of $RuSr_2(Eu_{1.34-x}Tb_xCe_{0.66})Cu_2O_z$ (x = 0, 0.67) were prepared and their superconductivity and magnetic properties were compared to shed light on the effect of Tb substitution for Eu. X-ray diffraction measurements indicate that the Tb substitution resulted in a decrease in both a and c lattice parameters in consistent with ionic size difference between Eu and Tb. Contrary to the Tb-free sample, no superconducting transition behavior is observed in the Tb-sustituted sample. It is also found that the Tb substitution for Eu significantly increases the weak-ferromagnetic component of the field-cooled magnetic susceptibility as well as an increase in the magnetic ordering temperature. These results suggest that the magnetic state of the Ru sublattice is significantly affected by the Tb substitution for Eu.
This study examined the effect of intentional thought avoidance(i.e., thought suppression and thought substitution) using "Think and No Think" task. Two syllable words were selected, and recall test was performed with a single subject group. recall accuracy of them was measured in two recall conditions(cue recall and target recall) and four training conditions(thought, thought suppression, thought substitution, and baseline). The results showed that recall accuracy in cue recall condition was better than in target recall condition, regardless of training conditions, and recall accuracy in thought condition was better than in other training conditions, regardless of recall conditions. Also there was significant interaction between recall and training conditions: For thought suppression. there was no difference between two recall conditions, whereas for thought substitution, recall accuracy in cue recall condition was better than in target condition. These findings indicate that thought avoidance strategies, including both thought suppression and thought substitution, are effective in avoiding the specific thought intentionally, and thought suppression and thought substitution could be applied by different mechanism.
Due to economic and environmental benefits, increasing the substitution ratio of ordinary cement by industry by-products like fly ash (FA) is one of the best approaches to reduce the impact of the concrete industry on the environment. However, as the substitution rate of FA increases, it will have an adverse impact on the performance of cement-based materials, so the actual substitution rate of FA is limited to around 10-30%. Therefore, in order to increase the early-age strength of high replacement (30-70%) low-calcium ultrafine FA blended cement paste, sodium sulfate and calcium sulfate dihydrate were used to improve the reactivity of FA. The results show that sodium sulfate has a significant enhancement effect on the strength of the composite pastes in the early and late ages, while calcium sulfate dihydrate has only a slight effect in the late ages. The addition of sodium sulfate in the cement-FA blended system can enhance the gain rate of non-evaporation water, and can decrease the Ca(OH)2 content. In addition, when the sulfate chemical activators are added, the ettringite content increases, and the surface of the FA is dissolved and hydrated.

We have studied the reduction of NO by propane over perovskite-type oxides prepared by malic acid method. The catalysts were modified to enhance the activity by substitution by substitution of metal into A or B site of perovskite oxides. In addition, the reaction conditions, such as temperature, $O_2$ concentration, space velocity have been studed. In the $LaCoO_3$ type catalyst, the partial substitution of Ba, Sr into A site enhanced the catalytic activity in the reduction of NO. In the $La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{1-x}Fe_xO_3(x=0 \sim 1.9)$ catalyst, the partial substitution of Fe into B site enhanced the conversion of NO, but excess amount of Fe decreased the conversion of NO. The surface area and catalytic activity of perovskite catalysts prepared by malic acid method showed higher values than those of solid reaction method. In the $La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{1-x}Fe_xO_3$ catalyst, the conversion of NO increased with increasing $O_2$ concentration and contact time. The introduction of water into reactant feed decreased the catalytic activity.

Thermoelectic properties of the typical thermoelectric host materials, the tellurides and selenides, are known to be noticeably changed by their volume change due to the strain [1]. In the bismuth telluride ($Bi_2Te_3$) crystal, a substitution of rare-earth element by replacing one of the Bi atoms may cause the change of the lattice parameters while remaining the rhombohedral structure of the host material. Using the first-principles approach by the precise full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FLAPW) method [2], we investigated the Ce substitution effect on the thermoelectric transport coefficients for the bismuth telluride, employing Boltzmann's equation in a constant relaxation-time approach fed with the FLAPW wave-functions within the rigid band approximation. Depending on the real process of re-arrangement of atoms in the cell to reach the equilibrium state, $CeBiTe_3$ was found to manifest a metal or a narrow bandgap semiconductor. This feature along with the strong correlation effect originated by the 4f states of Ce affect significantly on the thermoelectric properties. We showed that the position of the strongly localized f-states in energy scale (Fig. 1, f-states are shaded) was found to alter critically the transport properties in this material suggesting an opportunity to improve the thermoelectric efficiency by tuning the external strain which may changing the location of the f-sates.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the economic effects of a flame retardant aluminum screen developed by a company Economic effects were analyzed in terms of micro and macro-economic aspects. In the macro-economic aspect, economic effects were analyzed under the assumptions that the total import volume of flame retardant aluminum screen was approximately $50m^2$ in 2015 and that possible import substitution rates were 100%, 80%, and 60%. Results showed economic values of 2.25 billion won (100% import substitution rates), 1.8 billion won (80% import substitution rates), and 1.35 billion won (60% import substitution rates). If existing farms which had been using imported flame retardant aluminum screen replaced it newly developed with the flame-retardant aluminum screen developed in this study at rates of 100%, 80%, and 60%, the farms could save 750 million won, 60 million won, and 45 million won, respectively. Furthermore, the social cost savings from fire prevention could be 1.184 billion won. In the micro-economic aspect, if a farm with a typical-size ($1,000m^2$) greenhouse growing red pepper wanted to install flame retardant aluminum screen instead of generic aluminum screen, the farm may only pay an additional cost of 720,000 won. In comparison, if the farm chose fire insurance instead of flame-retardant aluminum screen, then the farm would pay 21,000,000 won for fire insurance. The above results show that the economic effect of flame retardant aluminum screen developed by the company would be be very efficient compared to the imported one.
The paper presents the technology trajectory of competitive wireless technologies in wireless industry. We attempt to trace the trajectory of wireless technologies with historical data, and then analyze its pattern. As a preliminary result, we find that there exists network effect and substitution effect in the trajectory. Our result can provide insight to wireless service providers where best to focus its efforts for maximizing overall gain in their networks as well as when to establish the transition strategy towards the next generation wireless network technologies.

Using the limestone powder as material that can substitute the clinker, it seems to get positive effect as filler and enhance workability of cement but the substitution amount and chemical properties of it can affect mechanical properties of cement. Thus, in this study, the effect limestone powder that has other properties on cement is evaluated. As a result, the workability enhancing effect was confirmed but deterioration of compressive strength was also checked. Later, with the view of workability, the experiment that the possibility of strength compensation by decreasing unit water weight of limestone powder cement is planned when the limestone powder is used.
The effect of substitution of Gd ions for Ca ions in the B $i_{1.84}$P $b_{0.34}$S $r_{1.91}$(C $a_{1-x}$ G $d_{x}$)$_{2.03}$ C $u_{3.06}$$O_{ 10+{\delta}}$/ (x=0.0~0.06) was investigated by measuring x-ray diffraction patterns, lattice constants, do resistivity and Hall effect. We found the solubility limit of Gd in the 110 K phase to be x < 0.015. Within the solubility limit, the c-axis seemed to decrease with increasing x. In the region of the 110 K single phase, the critical temperature $T_{c}$ gradually decreased with an increasing the Gd concentration x, corresponding to a small change of the carrier concentration.
Sulfur-substituted $LiMn_{0.9}Cr_{0.1}O_{2-x}S_x$$(0\;\leq\;x\;\leq\;0.1)$ layered oxides have been prepared by solid state reaction under inert atmosphere. From powder X-ray diffraction analyses, all the present lithium manganates were found to be crystallized with monoclinic-layered structure. Electrochemical measurements clearly demonstrated that, in comparison with the pristine $LiMn_{0.9}Cr_{0.1}O_2$, the sulfur-substituted derivatives exhibit smaller discharge capacities for the entire cycle range but the recovery of discharge capacity after the initial several cycles becomes faster upon sulfur substitution. The effect of the sulfur substitution on the chemical bonding nature of $LiMn_{0.9}Cr_{0.1}O_{2-x}S_x$has been investigated using X-ray absorption spectroscopic (XAS) analyses at Mn and Cr K-edges. According to Mn K-edge XAS results, the trivalent oxidation state of manganese ion remains unchanged before and after the substitution whereas the local structure around manganese ions becomes more distorted with increasing the substitution rate of sulfur. On the other hand, the replacement of oxygen with sulfur has negligible influence on the local atomic arrangement around chromium ions, which is surely due to the high octahedral stabilization energy of $Cr^{+III} $ ions. Based on the present experimental findings, we have suggested that the decrease of discharge capacity upon sulfur substitution is ascribable to the enhanced structural distortion of $MnO_6$ octahedra and/or to the formation of covalent Li-S bonds, and the accompanying improvement of cyclability would be related to the depression of Mn migration and/or to the pillaring effect of larger sulfur anion.
