Recently, research about Near-Surface-Mounted Rertofit (NSMR) method has been being widely performed as a method for retrofit of RC structure using FRP. This method requires additional work to make grooves during retrofit but makes it possible to improve retrofit effect and reduce the attack by environment. In this paper, the retrofit effect of NSMR method, especially the method using FRP plate instead of bar is investigated through experiment. Six RC beams were made and retrofitted using by FRP plate following the planned methods; Surface-Bonding Retrofit (SBR), NSMR without debonding region and NSMR with debonding region. Flexural capacity of all specimens was evaluated by beam test with simple support condition. As a result, NSMR method with FRP plate had more improved structural capacity than SBR method. The calculation process of ACI 440-2R can be used to predict the member retrofitted by NSMR with FRP plate with consideration on the three anchorage failure mechanism.
In strengthening structure, the external post-tensioning method which secure clearness in the structure analysis process is adopted to bridges as well as architecture structure. In this study, to investigate the behavior of composite beam in the process of post-tensioning, the amount of prestress force loss, the amount of prestressed compression stress at the lower flange and the behavior of lower flange connected with anchorage are analyzed by comparing the results of finite element analysis with the measured results of installed strain gauges. After finishing the post-tensioning, the strengthening effect of external post-tensioning method is analyzed by static loading test. It is also investigated that the strengthening effect of shear section in the harped external post-tensioning specimens.
The purposes of present study were to evaluate changes in models and lateral cephalometric head films during orthodontic treatment and to compare the amount of incisal retraction and anterior movement of molars with the two approaches of the retraction method of canine(sectional canine retractions vs sliding canine retractions) and the anchorage management(head gears vs no head gears, transpalatal arches vs no transpalatal arches and lingual arches vs no lingual arches) and to evaluate changes during orthodontic treatment in models with relation to lateral cephalometric head films. 67 Korean women with Angle's Class I bialveolar protrusion were selected, whose initial chronologic age was above 16 yrs. Models and lateral cephalometric head films were taken before and after orthodontic treatment with four bicuspid extraction. the results were obtained as follows. 1. Significant decreases were observed in intermolar width, arch length and arch perimeter of maxilla and mandible but significant difference was not observed in intercanine width of maxilla and mandible during treatment period. 2. The linear change of the upper incisor to upper lip was 2.84:1 and the linear change of the lower incisor to lower lip was 1.45:1 3. There were no significant differences between the two groups(sectional canine retractions vs sliding canine retractions), the !we groups(transpalatal arches vs no transpalatal arches) and the two groups(lingual arches vs no lingual arches) in the amount of incisal retraction and anterior movement of molars. There were a greater amount of maxillary incisal retraction and a lesser amount of anterior movement of maxillary molars with the use of head gears than no use of head gears. 4. Changes during orthodontic treatment in models with relation to lateral cephalometric head films were obtained as follows : 1) Maxilla Central incisors were moved 3.79mm backward, canines were moved 0.22mm laterally and 3.70mm backward, and molars were moved 0.535mm medially and 2.29mm forward. 2) Mandible Central incisors were moved 3.04mm backward, canines were moved 0.145mm laterally and 3.92mm backward, and molars were moved 0.755mm medially and 1.77mm forward.
It's an important part to calculate the weights between criterions and to aggregate the decision inputs in a MCDM(Multi criterion decision making) This paper presents a method for aggregation cf decision inputs and application to the MCDM. We incorporate the fuzzy set theory and the basic nature of subjectivity due to ambiguity to achieve a flexible decision approach suitable for uncertain and fuzzy environments. To obtain the scoring that corresponds to the best alternative or the ranking of the alternatives, we need to use a total order for the fuzzy numbers involved in the problem. In this article, we consider a definition of such a total order, which is based on two subjective aspects: the degree of optimism/pessimism reflected with the ordered weighted averaging(OWA) oprators. A numerical example, expecially location analysis for anchorage area, is given to illustrate the approach.
Preadjusted appliance, following the original concept of the Andrews Straight-Wire appliance, became increasingly common in the 1980s. In six phases of treatment, anchorage control, leveling and aligning, overbite control, overjet reduction, space closure, and finishing are very effective with using the preadjusted appliances. Space closure is the phase of treatment in which the difference between standard edgewise and preadjusted mechanics is most noticeable. Orthodontists have been able to reduce the use of closing loops and, because of the level slot lineup, enjoy the advantages of sliding mechanics. In 1990, Dr. John C. Bennett and Richard P. McLaughlin introduced the new space closure system, namely, elastic 'tiebacks'. They found an $.019'\times.025'$ working archwire most effective in an .022'-slot system. Hooks of .024' stainless steel or .028' brass wire are soldered to the upper and lower archwires. The force required for space closure is delivered by elastic 'tiebacks'. An elastic modulo stretched by 2-3mm(to twice its normal length) usually delivers 0.5-1.5mm of space closure per month. Group movement and sliding mechanics are combined for gentle, controlled space closure, so that about 0.5mm of incisor retraction and 0.5mm of mesial molar movement can be seen each month. The tiebacks are replaced every four to six weeks. By using the elastic 'tiebacks', the next two cases were treated during space closure. Even though we found some clinical problems of this mechanics, long treatment time, hard to control of vertical dimension and anchorage, the application method of this system is so simple that orthodontists can manage many patients during short chair time. But we must apply this mechanics after perfect understanding of the biomechanics in tooth movement.
Shear Connector should be used to fix the PHC pile with extension wall in order to utilize PHC-W retaining wall as permanent wall. The pullout behaviours on shear connectors anchored into PHC-W pile were observed as two modes. The first type behaviour showed that after reaching the maximum pullout resistance, the anchorage was broken and shear connector was pulled out abruptly. The second type behaviour showed that even after arriving the maximum pullout resistance, the anchorage was not destroyed and there was a progressive increase in pullout displacement. The maximum pullout resistance of the steel anchor shear connector is larger than that of deformed bar shear connector. The larger the diameter and the longer the embedment length of shear connector, the higher the maximum pullout resistance would be. The pullout displacements corresponding to the maximum pullout resistance of the shear connector showed various ranges regardless of the materials, the diameters and the anchoring lengths. A-D20 shear connectors showed a pull-out displacement of about 8~10 mm. A-D16, D-D19 and D-D16 shear connectors exhibited a pulling displacement of about 14~20 mm, but a pulling displacement of about 6~10 mm when the anchoring lengths were 50 and 80 mm.

PSC-Edge Rahmen Bridge makes low thickness and long span by introducing prestressed force to the edge girder and reducing positive moment. In the bridge, diagonal tension cracks occurred in the direction of $45^{\circ}$ to outer side of the girder after the temporary bent supported on the lower part of the upper slab and the secondary strand is tensioned on the girder. Researches on stress distribution and burst crack behavior of pre-stress anchorage has been conducted, it is difficult to analyze an obvious cause due to difference between actual shape and boundary condition. This study performed 3D frame analysis with additional boundary condition of temporary bent, the maximum compression stress occurred in the girder and there was a limit to identify the cause. It performed 3D Solid analysis with LUSAS 16.1 and the maximum principal tensile stress occurred at the boundary between the girder and the slab. As analyzing required reinforcement quantity at obtuse angle of the girder with the maximum principal tensile stress and directional cosine, reinforcement quantity was insufficient. Additional bridges have increased reinforcement quantity and extended area and crack was not occurred. It is expected that cracks on the girder during construction could be controlled by applying the proposed method to PSC-Edge Rahmen Bridge.

Shear Reinforcement of Dual Anchorage(SRD) is used to reinforce the safety of reinforced concrete structures at construction sites. Welding is used to make shear reinforcement, and welding plays an important role in determining productivity and competitiveness of products. Therefore, a weld bead detection inspection is required. In this paper, we suggest an algorithm for inspecting welding beads using image data of welding beads. First, the proposed algorithm calculates a brightness value in a vertical direction in an image, and then divides a welding bead in a vertical direction by finding a position corresponding to a 50% height point of the brightness value distribution in the image. The welding bead area is also divided in the same way for the horizontal direction, and then the segmentation image is analyzed if there is a welding bead. The proposed algorithm reduced the amount of computation by performing analysis after specifying the region of interest. In addition, accuracy could be improved by using all brightness values in the vertical and horizontal directions using the difference of brightness between the base metal and the welding bead region in the SRD image. The experiment compared the analysis results using five algorithms, such as K-mean and K-neighborhood, as a method to detect if there is a welding bead, and the experimental result proved that the proposed algorithm was the most accurate.

Prestressed concrete (PSC) I-type girders have been used for span length around up to 40 m in domestic region. PSC girders are very cost effective girder type and extending their lengths more than 50 m will bring large benefit in cost. A new design method was proposed by combining two notable design concept in order to extend the applicable span length in this study. First of all, several numbers of openings was introduced in the girder web, and half of the anchorage devices were moved into the openings. In this way, large compressive stress developed at end zone was reduced, and the portion of design load coming from self-weight was reduced as well. Secondly, prestressing force was introduced in the girder not once at the initial stage, but through multiple loading stages. A full scale girder with the length of 50 m with the girder depth of 2 m was fabricated, and a flexural test was conducted in order to verify the performance of newly developed girder. Test results showed that the new holed web design concept can provide a way to design girders longer than 50 meters with the girder height of 2 m.
Objective: To determine the effect of surface anodization on the interfacial strength between an orthodontic microimplant (MI) and the rabbit tibial bone, particularly in the initial phase aft er placement. Methods: A total of 36 MIs were driven into the tibias of 3 mature rabbits by using the self-drilling method and then removed aft er 6 weeks. Half the MIs were as-machined (n = 18; machined group), while the remaining had anodized surfaces (n = 18; anodized group). The peak insertion torque (PIT) and the peak removal torque (PRT) values were measured for the 2 groups of MIs. These values were then used to calculate the interfacial shear strength between the MI and cortical bone. Results: There were no statistical differences in terms of PIT between the 2 groups. However, mean PRT was significantly greater for the anodized implants ($3.79{\pm}1.39$ Ncm) than for the machined ones ($2.05{\pm}1.07$ Ncm) (p < 0.01). The interfacial strengths, converted from PRT, were calculated at 10.6 MPa and 5.74 MPa for the anodized and machined group implants, respectively. Conclusions: Anodization of orthodontic MIs may enhance their early-phase retention capability, thereby ensuring a more reliable source of absolute anchorage.
