$TiO_2/Cr_2O_3/Cr$ Multilayer Thin Films With Using Environment Material For Hydrophilic (친수성을 가지는 친환경 창호소재용 $TiO_2/Cr_2O_3/Cr$ 다층박막)

  • 광촉매능을 갖는 $TiO_2$는 국내외적으로 많은 연구가 진행되고 있으며, 빛의 조사로 발생하는 다양한 물리 화학적 촉매특성이 환경정화뿐만 아니라 및 에너지 흡수차단 기능도 갖고 있어 최근 주목을 받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 친수성을 가지는 친환경 창호소재용 및 초친수성을 가지는 자동차의 사이드미러 개발을 위해 유리표면에 이종밴드갭을 갖는 복합구조 $TiO_2/Cr_2O_3/Cr$ 박막을 스퍼터링법으로 증착하여 중간층인 $Cr_2O_3$의 역할을 고찰하였다. Cr, 결정질 $Cr_2O_3$ 기판의 경우 Anatase상과 Rutile상이 공존하는 미세조직이 관찰 되었으며 비정질 $Cr_2O_3$ 기판의 경우는 균일한 결정질 anatase-$TiO_2$상이 나타났다.

Structure and Photo-catalytic Activity of TiO2 Films Deposited by Reactive RF Magnetron Sputtering (반응성 RF 마그네트론 스퍼터링법을 이용하여 MgO 기판위에 증착한 TiO2 박막의 구조와 광촉매 특성)

  • Titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) films were deposited by RF reactive magnetron sputtering on non-alkali glass and single crystal MgO (100) substrate at substrate temperature of $400^{\circ}C$. Micro structures of $TiO_2$ films were investigated by XRD, FE-SEM, and Pole figure measurements. $TiO_2$ films deposited on glass substrate showed preferred orientation of anatase (101), whereas $TiO_2$ films deposited on the MgO single crystal substrate showed hetero-epitaxial anatase (100). $TiO_2$ film grown on MgO substrate showed higher photoctalytic activity than that of glass substrate.

  • 현재 급격히발전하는 이동통신기술로 미루어 보아 앞으로는 모든 정보통신이 무선통신으로 이루어질 것이다. 그런데 무선통신은 이동성과 대용량의 정보전송에 초점을 맞추어 발전하고 있다. 많은 정보량을 전달하기 위해서 현재 사용되는 주파수 대역보다 고주파의 전파가 사용되어야 한다. 또한 이동성을 향상시키기 위해서는 통신기기의 소형화를 이루어야 하고 그러기 위해서 궁극적으로 모든 소자를 하나의 칩(chip)으로 집적화하는 것이 필요하다. 따라서 벌크상태로 사용되고 있는 유전체 공진기를 소형화, 즉 박막화해야만 한다. 결국 유전체 박막의 마이크로파 대역에서의 유전특성을 연구하고 그 특성을 향상시켜야만 한다. 통신기기에서 사용되는 유전체 공진기는 소형화를 위해 높은 유전율과 낮은 유전손실(tan$\delta$), 즉 높은 품질계수 (Q)를 가져야 한다. 마이크로파 대역에서 사용되고 있는 유전체 중에서 TiO2는 벌크 상태의 rutile 상에서 100정도의 높은 유전율과, 4 GHz에서 10,000 정도의 높은 품질계수를 나타낸다고 보고되어 있다. 따라서 본 연궁서는 TiO2 박막의 마이크로파 유전특성을 연구하였고 anatase 박막의 유전특성도 측정하였다. TiO2 박막을 RF magnetron reactive sputtering 방법으로 Ar (15 sccm)과 O2 (1.5 sccm) 기체를 사용하여 상온에서 증착하였다. 4mTorr의 증착압력에서 안정한 rutile 박막을 얻었고, 15 mTorrdo서 준안정한 anatase 박막을 얻을 수 있었다. 그리고 그 중간의 압력에서 두 상이 혼합된 박막이 증착되었다. 위와 같은 방법으로 형성한 TiO2 박막의 마이크로파 유전특성을 측정하기 위해 마이크로스트립 링공진기 (microstrip ring resonator)를 제작하였다. 마이크로스트립 링 공진기는 링의 원주길이가 전자기파 파장길이의 정수배가 되면 공진이 일어나는 구조이다. Fused quartz를 기판으로 하여 증착압력을 변수로 하여 TiO2 박막을 증착하였다. 그리고 그 위에 은 (silver)을 사용하여 링 패턴을 형성하였다. 이와 같이 공진기를 제작하여 network analyzer (HP 8510C)로 마이크로파 대역에서의 공진특서을 측정하였다. 공진특성으로부터 전체 품질계수와 유효유전율, 그리고 TiO2 박막의 품질계수를 얻어내었다. 측정결과 rutile에서 anatase로 박막의 상이 변할수록 유전율은 감소하고 유전손실은 증가하는 결과를 나타내었다.

Titanium Dioxide Sol-gel Schottky Diodes and Effect of Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticle

  • This paper reports the effect of Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles on a TiO2 sol-gel Schottky diode. TiO2 nanoparticles were blended with TiO2 sol-gel to fabricate the Schottky diode. TiO2 nanoparticles showed strong anatase and rutile X-ray diffraction peaks. However, the mixture of TiO2 sol-gel and TiO2 nanoparticles exhibited no anatase and rutile peaks. The forward current of the Schottky diode drastically increased as the concentration of TiO2 nanoparticles increased up to 10 wt. % and decreased after that. The possible conduction mechanism is more likely space charge limited conduction.

  • The reaction morphology was investigated depending on the amounts of HCl and $NH_4OH$, and the effect of pH was studied on the preparation of $TiO_2$ nanopowders. $TiO_2$ nanopowder was prepared using a titanium tetra-isopropoxide. Subsequently, the effect of pH on the characteristics of the prepared $TiO_2$ nanopowder was evaluated depending on the amounts of the catalysts such as HCl and $NH_4OH$. The morphology and phase transformation of $TiO_2$ powder prepared by hydrolysis of titanium tetra-isopropoxide were strongly influenced by the presence of the catalysts. In the case of using $NH_4OH$, the morphology of the $TiO_2$ powder exhibited powder form. For the HCl catalyst, it showed bulk or granule form. The phase transformations of amorphous $Ti(OH)_4$ to anatase $TiO_2$ and the anatase to rutile was significantly influenced by the kind and amount of thecatalysts.

A Study on Photocatalytic Decomposition of Methylene Blue by Crystal Structures of Anatase/Rutile $TiO_2$ (아나타제/루틸 $TiO_2$ 결정 구조에 의한 메틸렌 블루 광분해 특성 연구)

  • Anatase and anatase/rutile $TiO_2$ samples were prepared at $HNO_3$/TTIP molar ratio of 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 to study the effects of the physical properties of $TiO_2$ on photocatalytic decomposition of methylene blue. The physical properties of the samples were measured with XRD, SEM, TEM, BET, FT-IR, and UV-vis spectroscopy. Anatase phase was observed at $HNO_3$/TTIP of 0.1 and anatase/rutile phases were observed at $HNO_3$/TTIP of 0.5~1.5. Rutile crystal phase, mesopore size between $TiO_2$ nanoparticles, and surface OH group on $TiO_2$ sample were gradually increased with increasing the molar ratio of $HNO_3$/TTIP and the residual methylene blue concentration before UV irradiation decreased from 78.0 to 53.3%. After UV irradiation, the residual methylene blue concentrations of the samples prepared at $HNO_3$/TTIP of 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 were 20, 14, 11, and 23%, respectively, and the sample prepared at $HNO_3$/TTIP of 1.0 showed the best photocatalytic ability.

Chemical Binding States of Ti and O Elements in Anodic Ti Oxide Films (Ti 양극산화 피막에서 Ti 및 O원소의 화학결합 상태)

  • To investigate behaviors of Ti and O elements and microstructures of anodic titanium oxide films, the films were prepared by anodizing pure titanium in $H_2$S $O_4$, $H_3$P $O_4$, and $H_2O$$_2$ mixed solution at 180V. The microstructures and chemical states of the elements were analyzed using SEM, X-ray mapping, AFM, XRD, XPS (depth profile). The films formed on a titanium substrate showed porous layers which were composed of pore and wall, And with increasing anodizing time a hexagonal shape of cell structures were dominant and solace roughness increased. From the XRD result the structure of the Ti $O_2$ layer was anatase type of crystal on the whole. In the XPS spectra it was found that Ti and O were chemically binded in forms of Ti $O_2$, TiOH, $Ti_2$ $O_3$ at Ti 2p, and Ti $O_2$, $Ti_2$ $O_3$, $P_2$ $O_{5}$, S $O_4^{2-}$ at O ls respectively. Concentration of Ti $O_2$ decreased as the depth increased from the surface of the oxide film towards the substrate, but to the contrary concentrations of TiOH and $Ti_2$ $O_3$ increased.d.

Analyzing corrosion rates of TiO2 nanotubes/titanium separation passive layer under surface and crystallization changes

  • The evaluation of the corrosion resistance of titanium with a TiO2 nanotubes top layer was carried out (TiO2 NT). These nanostructures were evolved into anatase nanoparticles without heat treatment in an aqueous medium, which is a novel phenomenon. This work analyzes the layer between the nanotube bottom and the substrate, which is thin and still susceptible to corrosion. The bottom of TiO2 nanotubes having Fluor resulting from the synthesis process changed between amorphous to crystalline anatase with a crystallite size of about 4 nm, which influenced the corrosion rates. Four kinds of samples were evaluated. A) NT by Ti anodizing; B) NTSB for Ti plates, either modifying its surface or anodizing the modified surface; C) NT-480 for anodized Ti and heat-treated (480℃) for reaching the anatase phase; D) NTSB-480 for Ti plates, first, modifying its surface using sandblast, after that, anodizing the modified surface, and finally, heat-treated to 480℃ to compare with samples having induced crystallization and passivation. Four electrochemical techniques were used to evaluate the corrosion rates. The surfaces having TiO2 nanotubes with a sandblast pre-treatment had the highest resistance to corrosion.

Synthesis and Characterization of CNT/TiO2 Composites Thermally Derived from MWCNT and Titanium(IV) n-Butoxide

  • Two kinds of CNT/TiO2 composite photocatalysts were synthesized with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and titanium(IV) n-butoxide (TNB) by a MCPBA oxidation method. Since MWCNTs had charge transfer and semiconducting, the CNT/TiO2 composite shows a good photo-degradation activity. The XRD patterns reveal that only anatase phase can be identified for MCT composite, but the HMCT composite synthesized with HCl treatment was observed the mixed phase of anatase and rutile. The EDX spectra were shown the presence as major elements of Ti with strong peaks. From the SEM results, the sample MCT and HMCT synthesized by the thermal decomposition with TNB show a homogenous sample with only individual MWCNTs covered with TiO2 without any jam-like aggregates between CNTs and TiO2. From the photocatalytic results, we could be suggested that the excellent activity of the CNT/TiO2 composites for organic dye and UV irradiation time could be attributed to combination effects between TiO2 and MWCNTs with plausible photodegradation mechanism.

Synthesis and Photoactivity of SnO2 - Doped Anatase - Type TiO2 Powder Via Polymerization - Complex Route (고분자 첨가법에 의해 SnO2가 도핑된 TiO2 분말의 합성 및 광촉매 특성)

  • $SnO_{2}$-doped anatase type $TiO_{2}$ powder was prepared by the polymerization complex route from tin(IV) bis (acetylacetonate) dichloride, titanium diisopropoxide bis (acetylacetonate) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) as a complexing agent. The structural changes of reaction mixture were monitored by fourier transform infarared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The microstructure and morphology of gel powder were studied by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD). The photocatalytic activity of these powders with the anatase structure was investigated by using indigo carmine solution.
