  • Five triterpenic acids as marker compounds were extracted and isolated from Prunellae Spica by column chromatography and reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and their purity was determinated by HPLC (purity ${\geq}90%$). Molecular weight and elemental compositions of the five marker compounds were determined by fast atom bombardment high-resolution mass spectrometry (FAB-HRMS). The structural determination of the five marker compounds was carried out fast atom bombardment collision-induced dissociation tandem mass spectrometry (FAB-CID-MS/MS). The collision-induced dissociation (CID) of protonated molecules $[M+H]^+$ and deprotonated molecules $[M-H]^-$ produced diverse product ions due mainly to retro Diels-Alder reaction (RDA), dehydration and decarboxylation. Moreover, the CID-MS/MS spectra of the $[M-H]^-$ ions were observed charge-remote fragmentation (CRF) patterns. On the basis of interpretation of CID-MS/MS spectra, structural elucidation of triterpenic acids isolated from Prunellae Spica was clearly performed.

  • After a careful review on the concept of transference from the perspective of analytical psychology with Jung's view in the center, the author had proposed that an interpretation for the whole series of 'Rosarium Philosophorum' including its posterior part to which Jung didn't refer in 'The Psychology of The Transference' be carried out for the genuine understanding of transference. The symbolic meaning of the twenty woodcuts' pictures in 'Rosarium Philosophorum' could be interpreted as the alchemical stages of blackening, whitening, yellowing, reddening and etc. The transformation through each stage could be associated with the process of psychotherapy as well as individuation process and the meaning of transference could be elucidated as a kind of initiating process for the individuation process. The eastern traditional thoughts on psychic transformation and human development were also compared. The individuation process would be coexistent with the development of human relationship including the therapeutic relationship and the concept of human (人 and 人間) in the eastern traditional thoughts would have many meaningful implications for further studies.

  • The aim of this study is to review phenomenological characteristics in Steven Holl's architecture through his design of St. Ignatius Chapel at Seattle University. To obtain this purpose, an analytical frame based on Holl's theory of phenomenological architecture is suggested to have a systematic study for St. Ignatius chapel. This chapel can be a good example of phenomenological architecture in that it is based on the concept of 'A Gathering of Different Lights' related to phenomenology and considered perception including multi sensory (as well as vision) as primary factors from site and program interpretation to spatial configuration. Unprecedented exterior of St. Ignatius chapel reflected on characteristics and function of rooms to magnify user's spatial experiences through inducing natural light and spatial effect. Holl used various openings and screen for natural light with colors to invoke religious inspiration. He also try to give spatial depth and multi foci for experiencing space through various ceiling forms. These phenomenological features originated in client's strong will as well as appropriateness of the function of facility's religious experiences through building to the purpose of phenomenological architecture.

  • Purpose - This study provides appropriate procedures for EFA to help researchers conduct empirical studies by using PLS-SEM. Research design, data, and methodology - This study addresses the absolute and relative sample size criteria, sampling adequacy, factor extraction models, factor rotation methods, the criterion for the number of factors to retain, interpretation of results, and reporting information. Results - The factor analysis procedure for PLS-SEM consists of the following five stages. First, it is important to look at whether both the Bartlett test of sphericity and the KMO MSA meet the qualitative criteria. Second, PAF is a better choice of methodology. Third, an oblique technique is a suitable method for PLS-SEM. Fourth, a combined approach is strongly recommended to factor retention. PA should be used at the onset. Next, it is recommended using the K1 criterion. In addition, it is necessary to extract factors that increase the total variance explanatory power through the PVA-FS. Finally, it is appropriate to select an item with a factor loading into 0.5 or higher and a communality of 0.5. Conclusions - It is expected that the accurate factor analysis processed for PLS-SEM as previously presented will help us extract more precise factors of the structural model.

  • The behaviour of concrete confined by transverse reinforcement is a classical topic. Numerous studies have been conducted to establish the stress-strain relationships for concrete under various confining reinforcement arrangements. Many empirical and semi-empirical formulas exist. Simplified analytical models have also been proposed to evaluate the increase in the strength and ductility of confined concrete. However, relatively few studies have been conducted to utilise advanced computational models for a realistic simulation of the behaviour of concrete confined by transverse reinforcement. As a matter of fact, high fidelity simulations using the latest numerical solvers in conjunction with advanced material constitutive models can be a powerful means to investigating the mechanisms underlying the confining effects of different reinforcement schemes. This paper presents a study on the use of high fidelity finite element models for the investigation of the behaviour of concrete confined by stirrups, as well as the interpretation of the numerical results. The development of the models is described in detail, and the essential modelling considerations are discussed. The models are then validated by simulating representative experimental studies on short columns with different confining reinforcement schemes. The development and distribution of the confining stress and the subsequent increase in the axial strength are examined. The models are shown to be capable of reproducing the behaviour of the confined concrete realistically, paving a way for systematic parametric studies and investigation into complicated confinement, load combination, and dynamic loading situations.

  • The compressor is used for many fields not only in the industrial sector, but also as a general household product. The energy consumption required for the compressor operation is very large. The reciprocation compressor is widely used as an air compressor. Regarding the reciprocating air compressor, the discharge of the gas compacted by the method of compressing the gas by using the oscillation of the piston is generated by the piston reciprocation 1 church 1 number. When compressing after compressing the air by the oscillation of the piston, the marine reciprocating air compressor is the vibration generated in the compressor and surrounding structure due to the energy of the generated inertia. If the effect of these harmful elements can be reduced, it supports the service of the vessel. In addition, accidents generated by the noise of the vibration can be prevented. Therefore, in this research, firstly, the structural analysis of the piston part was performed, the safety factor in all results was drawn based upon this, and the reliability of the interpretation was examined in order to create the optimal design for the air compressor.

  • This paper is an experimental study on the performance according to a capillary tube diameter and length in a domestic small multi refrigerator[kimchi refrigerator]. Pressure drop in a capillary tube is predicted by theoretical analysis and experimental method as the reduction of capillary tube diameter from 0.74 to 0.6 mm. The differences between experimental results and analytical results are mainly caused by friction factor in a capillary tube. Because there are no adequate equations used to calculate pressure drop of capillary tube diameter under 1.0mm. The empirical equations necessary for interpretation of capillary tube were derived from capillary tube test results data using curve fitting method. This study shows that the optimized designs of system, which is capillary tube length and refrigerant charge amount, are 2000mm, 83g at the capillary tube diameter 0.6mm and 3000mm, 73g at the capillary tube diameter 0.74mm. And capillary design tools and system matching techniques necessary for development of the kimchi refrigerator were also developed through this study.

  • Various Pushover analysis methodologies have evolved as an easy as well as designers-friendly alternative of nonlinear dynamic analysis for estimation of the inelastic demands of structures under seismic loading for performance based design. In fact, the established nonlinear dynamic analysis to assess the same, demands considerable analytical and computational background and rigor as well as intuitive insight into inelastic behavior for judging suitability of the results and its interpretation and hence may not be used in design office for frequent practice. In this context, the simple and viable alternative of Pushover analysis methodologies can be accepted if its efficacy is thoroughly judged over all possible varieties of the problems. Though this burning issue has invited some research efforts in this direction, still a complete picture evolving very clear guidelines for use of these alternate methodologies require much more detailed studies, providing idea about how the accuracy is influenced due to various combinations of basic parameters regulating inelastic dynamic response of the structures. The limited study presented in the paper aims to achieve this end to the extent possible. The study intends to identify the range of applicability of the technique and compares the efficacy of various alternative Pushover analysis schemes to general class of problems. Thus, the paper may prove useful in judicial use of Pushover analysis methodologies for performance based design with reasonable accuracy and relative ease.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine characteristics of symbolism as an important trend of the end of centuries, by comparing the symbolic characteristics from two periods, modern(1880∼1910s) and comtemporary(1990s), based on the typical characteristics of symbolic art by Robert R. Delevoy. Af for the study method, the contents analysis is adopted to present an objective data analysis and interpretation accompanied by theoretical approach through literature survey. Delevoy classifies symbolism into three categories such as mysticism, eroticism, and decorativeness. This study is developed based on the Delevoy's three categories. symbolistic costume reflecting systems of the society and the phases of the times, became to contain all aspects of functional, symbolic, and practical. Especially, the costume I contemporary era adopted a new approach, philosophical factors controling human's sensibility, and a sincere and analytical attitude on progress of technology. This study provide the fact that costume is a part to create aesthetic of self-expression as a field of formative art. Contemporary costume allows vital power for daily life of human by pursuing new aesthetic value, and it expresses inner world of human and moves on future-oriented to regain humanity. The symbolistic characteristics will continue to influence varous aspects of our society and play a main role in shaping the purpose of fashion design in the 21st century.
