To meet the reinforced discharge standards, effect of coagulant PAC (Poly aluminium chloride, 10.4% as $Al_2O_3$) on phosphorous removal in advanced wastewater treatment process (a modified $A^2$/O). 15 mg/L of PAC determined by jar-test was added to influent of settling basin in a modified $A^2$/O consists of anaerobic, anoxic, and oxic chamber which contains Bio-clod and porous polyurethane media. Performance of PAC was tested by supernatant after settling. The removal efficiencies of BOD, COD, TP (total phosphorus) and SP (soluble phosphorus) on biological process with PAC were 96.1%, 88.8%, 97.0% and 98.6%, compared with those on biological process without PAC were 95.4%, 72.4%, 71.6% and 59.5% respectively. 18.4% of TP and 39.1% of SP removal efficiency was increased, although increase of BOD and COD removal rate was not significant. Only PAC addition to influent of settling basin in $A^2O$ process can help total phosphorus removal to 0.13 mg/L with following discharge standard.

Diversity of the bacterial communities and the relation between community structure and components of wastewater were analyzed by 16S rRNA-based molecular techniques. Clone libraries of the 16S rDNAs from the sludges were constructed by PCR and cloning. The 1,151 clones from a sludge sample of sewage treatment plant were clustered into 699 RFLP phylotypes and the 1,228 clones from the wastewater disposal plant of chemical industry were clustered into 300 RFLP phylotypes. Shannon-Weiner diversity indices of two sampling sites were 8.7 and 6.1, indicating that the bacterial community structure of sewage treatment plant was more diverse than that of wastewater disposal plant of chemical industry. Forty clones belonging to predominant RFLP types were selected and sequenced. Seventy percent (28 clones) of the sequenced clones were related to the uncultured bacteria in public databases. The ${\beta}-Proteobacteria$ dominated in the bacterial communities of investigated two sludge samples. 16S rDNA sequences of the sewage treatment plant were similar to those of other activated sludges, while the bacterial community in wastewater disposal plant of chemical industry represented the strains identified from high-temperature, anaerobic, hydrocarbon-rich, and sulfur-rich environments. This result suggested that bacterial communities depended upon the components of wastewater.
The influence of temperature on the treatment efficiency of chlorinated organic substances contained in groundwater by permeable reactive barrier which is composed of $Fe^{\circ}$ has been investigated by constructing the Pourbaix diagrams for Fe-$H_2O$ system at different temperatures based on thermodynamic estimation. In aerobic condition, the equilibrium potentials for $Fe^{\circ}/Fe^{2+}$ and $Fe^{2+}/Fe^{3+}$ were observed to increase, therefore, the dechlorination reaction for organic pollutants by $Fe^{\circ}$ was considered to decline with temperature due to the diminished oxidation of reactive barrier. The result for the variations of the ionization fraction of $Fe^{2+}$ and $Fe^{3+}$ ion in the pH range of 0 ~ 2.5 obtained by employing Visual MINTEQ program showed that the ionization fraction of $Fe^{2+}$ increased with pH, however, that of $Fe^{3+}$ decreased symmetrically and the extent of the variation of ionization fraction for both ions was raised as temperature rises. The equilibrium pH for $Fe^{3+}/Fe(OH)_3$ was examined to decrease with temperature so that the treatment efficiency of chlorinated organic substance was expected to decrease with temperature due to the enhanced formation of passivating film in aerobic condition. The change of the reactivity of a specific chemical species with temperature was defined quantitatively based on the area of its stable region in Pourbaix diagram and depending on this the reactivity of $Fe^{3+}$ was shown to decrease with temperature, however, that of $Fe(OH)_3$ was decreased monotonously as temperature is raised for $Fe^{3+}/Fe(OH)_3$ equilibrium system. In anaerobic condition, the equilibrium potential for $Fe^{\circ}/Fe^{2+}$ was observed to rise and the equilibrium pH for $Fe^{2+}/Fe(OH)_2$ were examined to decrease as temperature increases, therefore, similar to that for aerobic condition the efficiency of the dechlorination reaction for organic substances was considered to be diminished when temperature rises because of the reduced oxidation of $Fe^{\circ}$ and increased formation of $Fe(OH)_2$ passivating film.
In this study, an applicability of thermal pretreatment for primary and secondary sludge, which are generated in a sewage treatment plant, was evaluated. The efficiency and charateristics was investigated with each sludge after pretreatment under the condition of $100{\sim}220^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes. As the result, it was found that $SCOD_{Cr}$, $NH_4{^+}$, VFAs concentrations increased as the pre-treatment temperature increased. For COD solubilization, it was also highly dependent on an increase of temperature resulting in acceleration on hydrolysis and acid fermentation. In the BMP (Biochemical Methane Potential) experiment, for the primary sludge, it showed the higher biogas production rate at a temperature of $220^{\circ}C$, however, the effect was insignificant (5.6%). Whereas, for the secondary sludge, the increase on biogass production rate was 38.8% ($180^{\circ}C$) and this means that the secondary sludge is more suitable for an applicability of thermal pretreatment.

In this study, thermal-alkali pre-treatment (THAP) optimal condition and co-digestion efficiency with THAP of the mixture food waste and sewage sludge were evaluated for improving the performances of co-digestion for mixed food waste and sewage sludge. The optimal condition of THAP was evaluated for solubilization COD, CST(Capillary Suction Time), TTF(Time to Filter), and volatile fatty acids (VFAs) with THAP temperature and NaOH concentration. In addition, the co-digestion of mixed food waste and sewage sludge were evaluated using biochemical methane potential (BMP) test. The optimal THAP reaction temperature and NaOH concentration of food waste and sewage sludge were $140^{\circ}C$ and 60 meq/L to solubilization COD over 20%, CST and TTF under 60sec and VFAs concentration over 12,000 mg-COD/L, respectively. The optimal condition of co-digestion of mixed food waste and sewage sludge equal to THAP condition. Therefore, it was determined that the optimal condition of THAP reaction temperature and NaOH concentration for co-digestion of mixed food waste and sewage sludge were $140^{\circ}C$ and 60 meq/L, respectively.

There have been only a few studies focused on the stabilization of metal (loid)s in anaerobic soils such as paddy soils. In this study, laboratory-scale column tests were conducted to artificially manipulate anoxic conditions in submerged paddy fields and we observed the release behavior of As, Cd, Pb, and Zn, as well as to examine the stabilization effect of steel refining slag (SRS) on the metal(loid)s. The leachate samples were collected and chemical parameters were monitored during the test period. Results suggest that anoxic conditions were developed during submersion, and that As or heavy metals (particularly Cd) fractions bound to ferrous (Fe) /manganese (Mn) oxides were easily dissociated. Moreover, As is also reduced by itself to a trivalent form with higher mobility in the reducing environment of rice paddy soil. However, it was also shown that SRS significantly decreased the dissolution of Zn, Pb, Cd, and As in the the leachates; their removal rates in the SRS-treated soil were 66 %, 45 %, 24 %, and 84 %, respectively, of those in the control soil.

These studies convert to useful electricity from swine wastewater and to treat this wastewater. In order to operate the microbial fuel cell(MFC) for the swine wastewater, the anode volume of MFCs was scaled up with 5L in the vacant condition. Graphite felts and low-priced mesh stainless-less as electrode had mixed up and packed into the anode compartment. The meshed stainless-less electrode could also be acted the collector of electron produced by microorganisms in anode. For a cathode compartment, graphite felt loaded Pt/C catalyst was used. Graphite felt electrode embedded in the anode compartment was punched holds at regular intervals to prevent occurred the channeling phenomenon. The sources of seeding on microbial fuel cell was used a mixture of swine wastewater and anaerobic digestion sludge(1:1). It was enriched within 6 days. Swine wastewater was fed with 53.26 ml/min flow rate. The MFCs produced a current of about 17 mA stably used swine wastewater with $3,167{\pm}80mg/L$. The maximum power density and current density was 680 $mW/m^3$ and 3,770 $mA/m^3$, respectively. From these results it is showed that treatment of swine wastewater synchronizes with electricity generation using modified low priced microbial fuel cell.

Objective: The objective of the study was to determine the effect of fermented spent coffee ground (FSCG) on nutrient digestibility and nitrogen utilization in sheep. Methods: Fermentation of spent coffee ground (SCG) was conducted using Lactobacillus plantrum. Fermentation was performed at moisture content of 70% and temperature of $39^{\circ}C$ with anaerobic air tension for 48 h. Four adult rams (initial body weight = $56.8{\pm}0.4kg$) were housed in a respiration-metabolism chamber and the treatments were: i) control (Basal diet; 0% SCG or FSCG), ii) 10% level of SCG, iii) 10% level of FSCG, and iv) 20% level of FSCG in $4{\times}4$ Latin square design. Each dietary experiment period lasted for 18-d with a 14-d of adaptation period and a 4-d of sample collection period. Results: In SCG fermentation experimental result, acid detergent insoluble nitrogen (ADIN) concentration of FSCG (64.5% of total N) was lower than that of non-fermented SCG (78.8% of total N). Digestibility of dry matter and organic matter was similar among treatment groups. Although crude protein (CP) digestibility of the control was greater than FSCG groups (p<0.05), the 10% FSCG group showed greater CP digestibility and nitrogen retention than non-fermented 10% SCG group (p<0.05). Body weight gain and average daily gain were linearly decreased with increasing FSCG feeding level (p<0.05). When the feeding level of FSCG was increased, water intake was linearly increased (p<0.05). With an increasing FSCG level, dry matter intake did not differ among groups, although the gain to feed ratio tended to decrease with increasing level of FSCG (p<0.10). Conclusion: Microbial fermentation of SCG can improve protein digestibility, thereby increasing CP digestibility and nitrogen utilization in sheep. Fermentation using microorganisms in feed ingredients with low digestibility could have a positive effect on improving the quality of raw feed.
Necrotizing fascitis is a severe soft tissue infection characterized by extensive necrosis of superficial fascia, suppurative fascitis, vascular thrombosis, widespread undermining of surrounding tissues. Associated systemic problems are widespread undermining of surrounding tissues, Associated systemic problems are common, with chronic alcoholism and diabetes being most prominent. Most commonly this disease presents in the extremities, trunk, and perineum. Necrotizing fascitis of dental origing is rare and its fulminating clinical course is not well documented in the dental literature. The present report is a case of necrotizing fascitis following vital extirpation of the pulp in a patient with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and liver cirrhosis. Originally throught to be caused by hemolytic streptococcus organism or stphylococcus aureus, advances in anaerobic culturing have shown it to be a synergistic bacterial infection involving aerobic and ovligate anaerobes. it is relatively rare in relatively rare in haea and neck regions. If it was not diagnosed and treated in early stages, necrotizing fascitis can be potentially fetal, with a mortality rate approaching 40%. It's treatment requires early recognition, prompt and aggressive surgical debriment and proper supportive cares, such as, antibiotic therapy, fluid resuscitation and correction of metabolic and electrolyte disorder, resolving of the underlying systemic disease. Recently, we experienced two cases of necrotizing fascitis in cervicofacial region, One patient was 60 years old male with uncontrolled Diabetes Mellitus and other patient was 48 years old with steroid therapy during 30 years. Local surgical wound healing was successful but, patients were died after admission, because of lung abscess, gastrointestinal bleeding, septic shock and respiration hold.
P. intermedia are considered an important pathogen in adult periodontitis, rapidly progressing periodontitis, refractory periodontitis, pregnancy gingivitis, acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis, pubertal gingivitis. So far 2 DNA homology groups and 3 serotypes of P. intermedia have been reported but there is no data available as yet regarding genetic diversity for the species P. intermedia. The purpose of this study is to investigate, using bacterial DNA restriction endonuclease analysis, genetic diversity between individual strains of P. intermedia which are indistinguishable by serotyping and biotyping, occurrence of an intrafamilial transmission and genetic heterogeneity between P. intermedia strains isolated within a patient and within the same serotypes. The families who have had no systemic disease, no experience of periodontal treatment for the previous 1 year and no experience of antibiotics for the previous 6 months were selected and subgingival plaque was collected at 4 sites in each person and incubated in the anaerobic chamber. P. intermedia were identified by colony shape, gram stain, biochemical test, SK-I03(Sunstar Inc.) test and IIF using monoclonal antibody was perfomed for the determination of serotypes. P. intermedia strains were grown in BHI broth and whole genomic DNA was extracted and digested by restriction endonuclease. The resulting DNA fragments were separated by agarose gel electrophoresis, stained and photographed under UV. As the results of this study, intrafamilial vertial transmissions could be assessed in 2 families and horizintal transmissions in another 2 families. There were different DNA digest patterns within a patient, so P. intermedia showed that individuals could be colonized by multiple clonal types at anyone time. And different serotypes could be found within a patient and in the same serotype within a patient, obvius genetic heterogeneity could not be assessed. But in the same serotype in different famies, there were differences in the DNA digest patterns.
