기상 화학증착법에 의해 $\alpha$-Alumina 지지관 상에 제조한 Silica막의 수소투과 특성 (Hydrogen Permeance of Silica Membrane Prepared by Chemical Vapor Deposition Method on an $\alpha$-Alumina Support Tube)

  • A porous $\alpha$-alumina tube of 2.5 mm O.D. and 1.9 mm I.D. was used as the support of an inorganic membrane. Macropores of the tube, about 150 nm in size, were plugged with silica formed by thermal decomposition of tetraethylorthosilicate at $600^{\circ}C$. The forced cross-flow CVD method that reactant was evacuated through the porous wall of the support was very effective in plugging macropores. The H$_2$ permeance of the prepared membrane was of the order of $10^{-8}/ molㆍs^{-1}/ㆍm^{-2}/. Pa{-1}$/, while the $N_2$ permeance was below $10^{-11}/ molㆍs^{-1}/ㆍm^{-2}/ㆍPa^{-1}$/ at $600^{\circ}C$. This was comparable to that of silica-modified Vycor glass whose size was 4 nm.

  • A ball-shape alumina arc-tube for low-wattage lamp was developed by the PIM process. An ultra high purity translucentgrade alumina powder was used. In injection molding process, a hot-runner type mold was developed. The translucent-grade alumina powder was extremely sensitive to contamination so that the injection molding condition and atmosphere control in the furnace should be taken care of with extreme caution. Contamination sources were pinpointed with EPMA. The arc-tube was molded in half and two halves were bonded in the middle by a new bonding technique at room temperature developed in this study.

  • 고온에서 수소 분리 회수를 목적으로 silica/alumina 복합 막을 합성하였다. 막의 선택 투과 성능을 향상시키기 위해, sol-gel법에 의한 silica 및 alumina층을 중간층으로 도입하고, 그 위에 강제유동 CVD법에 의한 silica를 합성하였다. Sol-gel법에 의해 ${\alpha}$-alumina tube에 합성한 ${\gamma}$-alumina 및 silica 막은 Knudsen 확산 영역의 많은 mesopore를 포함하고 있어서 수소 선택 분리 막으로는 적합하지 못했다. 하지만, sol-gel법에 의해 합성한 silica/${\gamma}$-alumina층에 강제유동 CVD법으로 silica를 합성한 결과, 질소 투과 영역의 세공이 완전히 제거되어, 높은 수소 선택성을 가지는 복합 막이 형성되었다. 그 막은 온도에 따라 수소 투과 속도가 증가하여 $450^{\circ}C$에서 $5.57{\times}10^{-8}molm^2s^LPa^1$의 수소 투과 속도와, 9.52 kJ/mol의 활성화 에너지를 나타냈다. 분자체 효과에 의해 질소 투과가 완전히 배제되고, 수소만 선택적으로 투과되는 silica/alumina 복합막이 성공적으로 합성된다.

산화철, 알루미나를 이용한 X선 차폐체 개발 및 성능 평가 (Development and Performance Evaluation of X-Ray Shields using Fe2O3 and Al2O3)

  • 방사선 차폐 물질인 납을 대신하여 싸고 친환경적인 산화철, 알루미나로 차폐체를 제작 후 차폐체의 성능을 평가하고자 한다. 산화철과 알루미나 각각 석고와 혼합하여 차폐체를 제작 이후 X-ray Tube를 이용하여 석고보드, 납복과 비교하여 성능을 평가한다. 관전압에 변화를 주며 실험한 결과 알루미나의 차폐 성능은 석고보드보다 차폐 성능이 떨어졌으며 50%의 알루미나가 함유되었을 때 석고보드와 차폐 성능이 비슷하였다. 산화철은 약 75%가 함유되었을 때 납복의 차폐 성능과 비슷해졌다. 알루미나를 이용한 차폐체는 석고와 비슷한 차폐 성능을 보여줘 납 대체물질로 적합하지는 않다. 하지만 산화철은 납복과 비슷한 차폐 성능을 나타내어 향후 납을 대체하는 X선 차폐 물질로 활용이 가능하기에 추가 연구가 필요하다.

Magnetic Abrasive Polishing for Internal Face of Seamless Stainless Steel Tube using Sludge Abrasive Grain

  • In this paper, we have investigated the characteristics of the magnetic abrasive using sludge on polishing of internal finishing of seamless stainless steel tube applying magnetic abrasive polishing. Either white alumina grain was used to resin sludge at a low temperature, and the sludge of magnetic abrasive powder was synthesized and crushed into 200 meshes. Surface roughness was measured before and after polishing, and more than 40% of improvement of surface roughness was achieved when grain was used under a specific condition. Even though some degree of surface roughness due to deeper scratches still exist, but the result showed a prospective magnetic abrasive polishing using sludge with white alumina grains.

전자부품용 메탈라이즈드 알루미나 세라믹스의 미세구조 제어 (Microsturcture Control of Metallized Alumina Ceramics for Electronic Devices)

  • Composition effects on microstructure and metallizing properties of the alumina sintered body were evaluated to develop the metallized alumina tubes having superior properties for electronic devices. SEM observation revealed that resultant micrographs and fractographs were varied with composition chance of additives and $SiO_2$-rich specimens showed better microstructural characteristics with uniform distribution of fine and round particles than other CaO-rich or MgO-rich ones. The resultant interfacial microstructure of the $SiO_2$-rich metallized alumina tubes also showed good metallizing properties with no defects between layers and uniform thickness of metallizing layer.

기체분리용 세라믹 복합분리막의 개발: I. 극미세 입자 실리카 졸의 코팅 특성 (Development of Ceramic Composite Membranes for Gas Separation: I. Coating Characteristics of Nanoparticulate SiO2 Sols)

  • Alumina tubes suitable for the support of gas separation membranes have been prepared by the slipcasting technique. These supports have the average pore size of 0.1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ within the narrow distribution. The sol-gel dipcoating process of nanoparticulate sols is very sensitive to microstructure of the support, and the coating on the inside surface of the tube is found to be more successful than on the outside surface. Nanoparticulate silica sols (0.82 mol/ι) have been synthesized by an interfacial hydrolysis reaction between TEOS and high alkaline water. When coating an alumina tube with these sols, the minimum limits of the particle size and the aging time required for forming the coated gel layer at the given pH are provided. It is optimum to coat the support with less concentrated sols stabilized through aging for the appropriate time (more than 22 days) at the lower pH (pH 2.0) for producing a reproducible crack free thin film coating in composite membranes.

Even though some degree of surface roughness due to deeper scratches still exist, but the result showed a prospective magnetic abrasive polishing using sludge with WA or GC grains.

  • 본 연구에서는 극초음속 비행체의 냉각제로 사용되는 액체탄화수소 연료와 흡열 촉매의 안정적 사용을 위해 Al2O3와 H-ZSM-5를 stainless steel tube 내벽에 코팅하는 연구를 수행하였다. 액체탄화수소 연료의 흡열분해 반응에서 coke 생성이 불가피하며, stainless steel tube reactor를 냉각채널로 사용하게 됨에 따라 Fe, Ni 금속이 filamentous coke 생성을 유발한다. 이에 따라 stainless steel에 H-ZSM-5를 코팅함으로써, Fe과 Ni 금속이 액체탄화수소 연료에 직접 노출되는 것을 방지하고 filamentous coke 생성을 억제하고자 하였다. 또한 stainless steel과 H-ZSM-5 사이에는 Al2O3을 코팅하여, 부착 강도를 증진 시키고자 하였다.

  • High intensity metal halide discharge lamp performance, specifically the generated luminous flux and light color content, depends critically on the arc tube design. Factors influencing the design and consequent lamp efficacy include : lamp size, geometry, arc tube composition, fill chemistry, electrode design and excitation modes. Shaping of Polycrystalline Alumina(PCA) can be realized by conventional ceramic processes. Several processes are applied nowadays. Well-known in the ceramic high pressure field for decades are the pressing and the extrusion method. Newly developed slurry and precious forming technologies give the one-body seamless tubes, which improve thickness uniformity and lighting performance. Now, we reported some optical properties with different arc tube structures of ceramic metal halide lamps.
