  • In this article, we investigate an approximate quadratic Lie *-derivation of a quadratic functional equation f(ax + by) + abf(x - y) = (a + b)(af(x) + bf(y)), where ab ≠ 0, a, b ∈ ℕ, associated with the identity f([x, y]) = [f(x), y2] + [x2, f(y)] on a 𝜌-complete convex modular *-algebra χ𝜌 by using ∆2-condition via convex modular 𝜌.

  • For any fixed integers k, l with kl(l - 1) ≠ 0, we establish the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability of an Euler-Lagrange quadratic functional equation f(kx + ly) + f(kx - ly) + 2(l - 1)[k2f(x) - lf(y)] = l[f(kx + y) + f(kx - y)] in normed spaces and in non-Archimedean spaces, respectively.

  • This paper proposes a novel code tracking scheme to track the fine code synchronization for BOC(pn,n) modulated spreading signals. The correlation function of BOC(pn,n) modulated spreading signals has been several peaks. In this paper, we observe that the correlation function in the advanced offset region remains almost unchanged, due to the multipath signals being received later than a line-of-sight signal. Based on this observation, we propose a novel code tracking scheme which is called the advanced region correlation (ARC) method for BOC(n,n) modulated spreading signals. And, we compare with the code tracking accuracy between the conventional and proposed methods in the static multipath and land mobile satellite system channels through the Monte-Carlo simulation. Then, base on the proposed scheme, we propose the generalized-ARC (ARC) scheme for BOC(pn, n) modulated spreading signals.

  • Atomistic molecular dynamics (MD) simulation has become mature enabling close approximation of the real behaviors of biomolecules. In biomolecular NMR field, atomistic MD simulation coupled with generalized implicit solvent model (GBIS) has contributed to improving the qualities of NMR structures in the refinement stage with experimental restraints. Here all-atom force fields play important roles in defining the optimal positions between atoms and angles, resulting in more precise and accurate structures. Despite successful applications in refining NMR structure, however, the research that has studied the influence of force fields in GBIS is limited. In this study, we compared the qualities of NMR structures of two model proteins, ubiquitin and GB1, under a series of AMBER force fields-ff99SB, ff99SB-ILDN, ff99SB-NMR, ff12SB, and ff13-with experimental restraints. The root mean square deviations of backbone atoms and packing scores that reflect the apparent structural qualities were almost indistinguishable except ff13. Qualitative comparison of parameters, however, indicates that ff99SB-ILDN is more recommendable, at least in the cases of ubiquitin and GB1.

  • Let (R, m) be a d-dimensional Cohen-Macaulay local ring with infinite residue field. Let I be an ideal of R that has analytic spread ℓ(I) = d, satisfies the Gd condition, the weak Artin-Nagata property AN-d-2 and m is not an associated prime of R/I. In this paper, we show that if j1(I) = λ(I/J) + λ[R/(Jd-1 :RI+(Jd-2 :RI+I):R m)] + 1, then I has almost minimal j-multiplicity, G(I) is Cohen-Macaulay and rJ(I) is at most 2, where J = (x1, , xd) is a general minimal reduction of I and Ji = (x1, , xi). In addition, the last theorem is in the spirit of a result of Sally who has studied the depth of associated graded rings and minimal reductions for m-primary ideals.

  • Flux estimation is a significant foundation of high-performance control for DC-excited synchronous motor. For almost all flux estimators, such as the flux estimator based on phase locked loop (PLL), DC drift causes fluctuations in flux magnitude. Furthermore, significant dynamic error may be introduced at transient conditions. To overcome these problems, this paper proposes an improved flux estimator for the PLL-based algorithm. Filters based on the generalized integrator are used to avoid flux fluctuation problems caused by the DC drift at the back electromotive force. Programmable low-pass filters are employed to improve the dynamic performance of the flux estimator, and the cutoff frequency of the filter is determined by the dynamic factor. The algorithm is verified by a 960V/1.6MW industrial prototype. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed estimator can estimate the flux more accurately than the PLL-based algorithm in a cycloconverter-fed DC-excited synchronous machine vector control system.

  • Most algorithms for handling distributed deadlock problem in the generalized request model use the diffusing computation technique where propagation of probes and backward propagation of replies carrying dependency information between processes are both required to detect deadlock Since fast deadlock detection is critical, we propose an algorithm that lets probes rather than replies carry the information required for deadlock detection. This helps to remove the backward propagation of replies and reduce the time cost for deadlock detection to almost half of that of the existing algorithms. Moreover, the proposed algorithm is extended to deal with concurrent executions, which achieves further improvement of deadlock detection time, whereas the current algorithms deal only with a single execution. We compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with that of the other algorithms through simulation experiments.

  • The investigation on the previous paper(Jn. of KoSSGE vol.12, no.3), which proposed three empirical equations for the different aquifers was carried out. To draw out a single equation from the three different equations the mean value of the involution factors was adopted allowing different proportional coefficients for the different aquifers. On the other hand it was found that the square root value of storativity ratio, ${\sqrt{{S_p}/{S_o}}}$ in each well is almost equal to its wellbore radius ratio, ${r_e}/{r_w}$. From this fact, the proportional coefficients can be substituted with assumed aquifer storativity and a generalized empirical equation for the effective wellbore radius has been derived.

  • The population variation of Spanish mackerel (Scomberomorus niphonius) according to its major prey abundance was analyzed using monthly catches of coastal set net fisheries in the southern waters off Gyeongsangnam-do and eastern waters off Gyeongsangbuk-do of Korea from 2006 to 2019. The abundance of Spanish mackerel and its prey species fluctuated almost simultaneously with time lags of +2 to -2 months between the set net fisheries in the southern and eastern waters. The generalized additive model revealed that the abundance of Spanish mackerel was influenced by its prey species such as hairtail and anchovy in southern waters, and common mackerel and horse mackerel in eastern waters. The model deviance explained 49% and 42% of Spanish mackerel abundance in southern and eastern waters respectively. These results suggest that the abundance of Spanish mackerel is affected by seasonal migratory prey fish species in the coastal areas and can be linked to their northerly migration.

  • Goodness-of-fit techniques are an important topic in statistical analysis. Censored data occur frequently in survival experiments; therefore, many studies are conducted when data are censored. In this paper we mainly consider test statistics based on the empirical distribution function (EDF) to test normal distributions with unknown location and scale parameters when data are randomly censored. The most famous EDF test statistic is the Kolmogorov-Smirnov; in addition, the quadratic statistics such as the $Cram{\acute{e}}r-von$ Mises and the Anderson-Darling statistic are well known. The $Cram{\acute{e}}r-von$ Mises statistic is generalized to randomly censored cases by Koziol and Green (Biometrika, 63, 465-474, 1976). In this paper, we generalize the Anderson-Darling statistic to randomly censored data using the Kaplan-Meier estimator as it was done by Koziol and Green. A simulation study is conducted under a particular censorship model proposed by Koziol and Green. Through a simulation study, the generalized Anderson-Darling statistic shows the best power against almost all alternatives considered among the three EDF statistics we take into account.
