A Multi-Perspective Framework of Vision Zero: Toward Collaborative Promotion of Safety, Health and Well-Being at Work

  • In the globalized field of safety, health, and well-being, the need to build multi-stakeholder alliances to find solutions to complex challenges is growing. This requires common ground for collaboration, as well as concepts and tools to grasp and manage the areas of interest. Over recent years, Vision Zero has awakened interest and it continues to evolve into many forms of approaches and initiatives, which provide a strategic direction and practical tools for supporting the development of safety, health, and well-being at work. Consequently, there is a need to build a shared understanding of 'zero'. This article reflects the potential of Vision Zero as a bridging concept and an approach for building multi-stakeholder collaboration. Thus, we present a multi-perspective framework of Vision Zero to support further dialoge and collaboration in joint undertakings.

The impact of 5G multi-access edge computing cooperation announcement on the telecom operators' firm value

  • Since multi-access edge computing (MEC) was established as a key enabler of 5G, MEC based on 5G networks (5G MEC) has been perceived as a new business opportunity for many industry players, including telecom operators. Numerous 5G MEC cooperation announcements among companies playing their respective roles in the MEC ecosystem have been recently released. However, because of cooperative and competitive relationships among key players in the MEC ecosystem and the uncertainty of 5G MEC, the announcement of 5G MEC cooperation can negatively affect the telecom operators' firm value. This study investigates the market reaction to announcements of 5G MEC cooperation for telecom operators using an event study methodology. The empirical results show that announcements of 5G MEC cooperation have a negative impact on the telecom operators' firm value. The results also show that the early deployment of 5G networks may reduce the negative impact of 5G MEC cooperation announcements by reducing uncertainty.

  • This paper examines the operations of private housing developers (PHDs) based on Social Network Theory. PHDs need to choose the best consultants, contractors and suppliers (CCS) to make sure the project run and complete successfully. PHDs gather the scarce resources from the external environment through personal network. This research used the social network method which relies on alliances based on network, social, tie and trust. The more people/firm PHDs network with, the better chances of finding the right CCS.

2009-2022 Thailand public perception analysis of nuclear energy on social media using deep transfer learning technique

  • Due to Thailand's nuclear energy public acceptance problem, the understanding of nuclear energy public perception was the key factor affecting to re-consideration of the nuclear energy program. Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology and its alliances together developed the classification model for the nuclear energy public perception from the big data comments on social media using Facebook using deep transfer learning. The objective was to insight into the Thailand nuclear energy public perception on Facebook social media platform using sentiment analysis. The supervised learning was used to generate up-to-date classification model with more than 80% accuracy to classify the public perception on nuclear power plant news on Facebook from 2009 to 2022. The majority of neutral sentiments (80%) represented the opportunity for Thailand to convince people to receive a better nuclear perception. Negative sentiments (14%) showed support for other alternative energies due to nuclear accident concerns while positive sentiments (6%) expressed support for innovative nuclear technologies.

  • 스마트폰 시장에서 글로벌공급망(GSCM: global supply chain management)과의 국제 전략적 제휴(ISA: international strategic alliances)를 통한 신제품 공개(NPP: new product preannouncement)는 기업의 생존과 경쟁우위를 결정하는 핵심요인이다. 이에 본 연구는 애플의 아이폰(iPhone)과 경쟁하기 위해 지속해서 신제품을 공개하고 있는 삼성전자의 갤럭시 노트시리즈(Galaxy Note series)를 중심으로 글로벌공급망을 탐색제휴(exploration alliance)와 활용제휴(exploitation alliance)로 구분하여 사건연구(event study)와 횡단면 회귀분석을 시행하였다. 연구결과는 탐색제휴를 통한 신기술과 활용제휴를 통한 기존기술에 관한 정보는 모두 갤럭시 노트의 신제품 공개 하루 전(-1)에 해당 부품공급업체(vendors)의 단기성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있는 것을 확인하였다. 주목할 점은 신제품 공개를 위해 적용한 신기술 정보가 기존기술 정보보다 초과수익률이 더 높은 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이는 신기술을 제공한 기업일수록 기존기술을 제공한 기업보다 혁신역량이 높고 여유자원이 풍부하여 시장에서는 이를 긍정적인 신호로 인식하고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 또한 이 연구는 탐색제휴로 확보한 신기술은 혁신역량과의 상호작용을 통해 신제품 공개에 도움을 주는 핵심요인으로 스마트폰 시장에서 생존 여부를 결정지을 수 있는 중요한 변수임을 실증분석을 통하여 검증하였다는 점에서 의미를 가진다.

제휴기업의 국가문화특성이 제휴 성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 실증분석 (An Empirical Study on the Effects of Alliance Strategy and National Culture Characteristics on Alliance Performance)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 제휴유형(선 경쟁적, 경쟁적, 친경쟁적, 비 경쟁적 제휴)과 국가문화차이가 제휴 성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 분석하기 위해, 국제경영을 수행하고 해외 기업과 계약적 제휴관계를 체결하고 있는 기업을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 223개의 조사 요청서 중 총 121부가 회수되었으며, 이를 기반으로 하여 조사요청서에 기재된 담당인원에게 다시 구조화된 설문지를 발송하여 총 98개의 표본을 수집하였다. 설문조사를 통해 실증 분석한 연구결과는 제휴 유형과 국가문화차이가 제휴 성과에 대부분 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 해외진출기업이 성공적인 제휴 성과를 창출하는데 있어서 국가문화차이가 제휴 전략에 적합한 경우 보다 성공적인 제휴를 달성 할 수 있게 할 수 있다는 점에서 매우 의미 있는 시사점을 제공해 줄 수 있을 것이다. 또한 본 연구는 탐색적 수준의 연구로 기업의 제휴전략과 국가문화특성과의 관계가 제휴 성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 있기 때문에 이러한 분석결과는 제휴유형과 제휴 성과에 문화차이가 유의한 영향을 미치고 있다는 것을 나타내는 결과로 문화차이를 충분히 고려한 제휴전략을 선택할 때 보다 나은 성과를 달성할 수 있다는 점에서 시사점을 제공하고 있다.

Entering Uncharted Territory: Ownership of Healthcare by Business Corporations

  • Purpose - The aim of this paper is to examine the newly formed a partnership of Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway (Berkshire) and JPMorgan through the lens of strategic alliance, corporate philanthropy, and corporate social responsibility. Research design, data, and methodology - This is an analytical case study that examines the existing scholarly articles in strategic alliances, corporate philanthropy, and corporate social responsibility to explain the recent strategic alliance. Results - There is a clear limitation in explaining this type of unconventional strategic alliance with exiting definitions and concepts because there is no existing study or case available today. Forming a strategic business alliance to create and operate healthcare for their domestic employees could be viewed as a social innovation that resulted from an effort to resolve a social problem, the ineffective healthcare system in the U.S., rather than focusing on business benefits and profits. Conclusions - The success or failure of this type of business alliance would certainly affect the current healthcare system of the United States and global businesses and healthcare industries in the future. However, just entering or tapping into uncharted territory by these three companies to deal with a social issue is significant enough to merit further exploration and analysis for scholars and practitioners.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the fashion industry in Korea with materials that could enhance its international competitiveness by suggesting marketing strategies for fast fashion brands after taking product, price, place, and promotion into consideration. The product strategy should focus on developing products that accurately reflect the general market trend and consumer demand, selecting optimal materials, and pursuing internal production. This, coupled with strategic cooperation with designers, will ensure reliable quality and enhance the brand image. The pricing strategy should place greater emphasis on reducing production costs. Diverse task outsourcing and design competition, for instance, can lower the cost of design development. The place strategy should be set according to the operation of a systematic and efficient distribution system based on SPA, an automatic delivery system, sales or return system, speed control system, and a value chain that consists of horizontal business alliances. The promotion strategy should be run under the central control of the headquarters using various unique VMDs. Furthermore, online marketing campaigns, spectacular fashion shows, design competitions, catalogue marketing campaigns, and other new sales promotion schemes could all be introduced.

  • 호스트는 인터넷을 통한 혁신적인 공격(innovative antigen)을 신속하게 감지하고 제거할 수 있는 새로운 자율적 지능적 보안 시스템의 구현을 필요로 한다, 그러나 단독의 호스트가 이러한 공격에 대처 할수 있는 능력은 시스템 및 네트워크 자원의 제한으로 그 한계를 들어내고 있다. 본 논문에서는 생체면역체계를 기반으로 급속히 다양해지는 인터넷 공겨에 대해 효율적으로 신속히 대처를 할 수 있는 Antibody Layer(다변화된 자율 면역시스템)을 제안한다. Antibody Layer는 다양한 등급의 보안 서비스(Security Qos Class)를 제공해 주며 혁신적인 공격에 대해 호스트 단독으로 대처할 뿐만아니라 광대한 호스트 연합을 구성하여 공동으로 대처하므로 보다 질 높은 보안 서비스를 실시간으로 제공할 수 있다.

패션디자이너 브랜드 이미지와 제휴 브랜드 제품 구매태도에 관한 연구 (Images of the Brands of Fashion Designers, and Purchasing Attitudes toward Products of Alliance Brands)

  • Many fashion designers are actively pursuing strategic alliances with other brands. The purpose of this study is to identify the differences in images between the original brands and the alliance brands made by fashion designers. This study also aims to review consumers' purchasing attitudes towards alliance brands products. Questionnaires were distributed to adults in their 20s and above, which were then collected. The research findings illuminated the differences in images between original brand products and the alliance brand products made by fashion designers. It was found that the fashion designer (A) brand mainly had luxurious, attractive and quality images, while its alliance brand mainly had practical and durable images. On the other hand, the fashion designer (B) brand mainly had quality and durable images, while its alliance brand mainly had luxurious, characteristic and attractive images. The fashion designer (Ga) brand mainly had characteristic, sophisticated and quality images, while its alliance brand mainly had trendy, attractive and practical images. The fashion designer (Na) brand mainly had trendy, characteristic and attractive images, while its alliance brand mainly had practical images.
