One of the main objectives of noise control act is to define and ensure application and respect of noise exposure limits. Most advanced countries have prepared a legal framework for noise limits either by national laws, ordinances or municipal by-laws. A large number of advaced countries have adopted the Leq index for the main sources of noise(road, railway, industry). The exception is aircraft noise for which regulatory practice is highly disparate. These differences in the indices adopted, the periods and areas to which regulations apply, definitions of measurement conditions and ways in which noise levels are calculated make it difficult to compare the current advanced countries standards. This study presents the current noise abatement policy of the advanced countries and proposes the improvement of the current noise abatement policy of Korea to catch up with it of the advanced countries.
Since inertial sensor errors which increase with time are caused by initial orientation error and sensor errors (accelerometer bias and gyro drift bias), the accuracy of these devices, while still improving, is not adequate for many of today's high-precision, long-duration sea, aircraft, and long-range missile missions. This paper presents a navigation error compensation scheme for Strap-Down Inertial Navigation System (SDINS) using Line-Of-Sight(LOS) vector from star sensor. To be specific, SDINS error model and measurement equation are derived, and Kalman filter is implemented. Simulation results show the bounded-ness of position and attitude errors.

In the space industry, structures undergo several vibration and acoustic tests in order to verify their design and give confidence that they will survive the launch and other critical in-orbit dynamic scenarios. At component level, vibration tests are conducted with the aim to reach local or global interface loads without exceeding the design loads. So, it is often necessary to control and limit the input based on a load criterion. This means the test engineer should be able to assess the interface loads, even when load cannot be measured. This paper presents various approaches to evaluate interface loads using measured accelerations and by referring to mass operators. Various methods, from curve fitting techniques to finite element-based methods are presented. The methods are compared using signals with known imperfection to identify strengths and weaknesses of each mass operator definition.
Spot welding, namely a kind of electric resisting welding has been used widely in field of automobile and aircraft industries because of easiness to apply. Specimens used in this study was a mild steel of 1.2mm thickness and the electrode was a Cu-Cr alloy of 6mm diameter. The surface sheared of specimens after testing of tensile shear was observed by SEM(scanning electron microscope) after ultrasonic cleaning for 10min., and microstructures and grain size of all specimens were measured with using of O.M.(Optical microscope). By the means of measurement and observations of tensile shear load, fatigue strength and share surface, the weldability of spot welding was evaluated. When tensile shearing testing, fracture starting point in all specimens was took place at the bond between HAZ(Heat affected zone) and nugget. With increasing in number of layers, fatigue strength was decreased. With increasing in electric current, grain size in the HAZ became more fine.

Cylindrical plunge grinding is widely used for final machining process of precision parts such as automobile, aircraft, measurement units. But in order to make parts which have high precision accuracy and high surface integrity, it is necessary to consider grinding characteristics due to accumulation phenomena of grinding wheel in plunge grinding process. In this study, in order to examine closely plunge grinding process, grinding power, grinding force, real depth of cut are monitored in transient state, steady state and spark out state. As the result, it is shown that grinding power and force are affected by dressing condition, depth of cut and speed ratio and that there exist threshold grinding force and it also affected by dressing condition. Also considered effects of grinding conditions on surface roughness and roundness of workpiece

In order to determine the possibility of using NDGPS signals for flight operations, in-flight measurements of signals transmitted from various ground reference stations(RS) were conducted along the air routes of South Korea. Signal strength and signal to noise ratio(SNR) data were collected along domestic flight routes and recorded with time. By using three-dimensional geographical position data of the aircraft, signal strength data of en-route position were calculated and used to obtain scatter-plot of signal strength. These results were used to outline the effective coverage and field strength hemispheres of the selected DGPS signals.

This paper presents a systematic design methodology for fault tolerant controller against a fault in actuators and sensors of linear stochastic systems with uncertainties. The scheme is based on fault detection and diagnosis(isolation and estimation) using a bank of robust two-stage Kalman filters, and accommodation of the actuator fault by eigenstructure assignment and immediate compensation of the sensor's faulty measurement. In order to clarify the fault feature in test statistics of residual, noise reduction method is given by multi-scale discrete wavelet transform. The effectiveness of our approach Is shown via simulations for a VTOL(vertical take-off and landing) aircraft subjected to parameter variations, external disturbances, process and sensor noises.
An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) is a powered pilotless aircraft, which is controlled remotely or autonomously. UAVs are currently employed in many military missions(surveillance, reconnaissance, communication relay, targeting, strike etc.) and a number of civilian applications(communication service, broadcast service, traffic control support, monitoring, measurement etc.). For accomplishing the UAV's missions, guarantee of survivability should be preceded. The main objective of this study is the path planning to maximize survivability for UAV based on 3-dimensional environment. A mathematical programming model is suggested by using MRPP(Most Reliable Path Problem) and solved by transforming MRPP into SPP(Shortest Path Problem). This study also suggests a $A^*PS$ algorithm based on 3-dimensional environment to UAV's path planning. According to comparison result of the suggested algorithm and SPP algorithms (Dijkstra, $A^*$ algorithm), the suggested algorithm gives better solution than SPP algorithms.

This paper introduces new wideband antenna-filter-antenna (AFA) uniform arrays that can be utilized as frequency selective surfaces (FSS) with low loss and sharp roll-off response, which are highly desirable characteristics for millimeter wave applications. The design adopts a simple 3-layer single polarization structure consisting of two patch antennas and a resonator. Both simulations and measurements are used to characterize the performances of the proposed design. Overall results show 18.5% 10-dB bandwidth. For the targeted band the insertion loss is less than 0.2 dB. Possible applications include quasi-optical amps, grid mixers and radomes for aircraft radar antennas.
