  • Cultural heritages are affected by various environmental factors. Main factors are temperature, humidity, light and indoor air pollutants such as ozone, nitrogen oxides. Especially humidity condition is very important. Low humidity condition can cause contraction and high humidity condition can lead to growth of microorganism. This study is conducted to appraise an applicability of the Humidity Indicator which is one of the simple method for humidity control. The Humidity Indicator shows the humidity conditions through color change. Therefore, photometer was used to correctly measure the color change of Humidity Indicator. As a result of lab test, Humidity Indicators was stabilized after one hour from en exposure in a certain humidity condition and the indicators indicated clear correlations between color changes of Humidity Indicators and humidity conditions. Some Humidity Indicators which had been selected through the lab tests were applied to preservation facilities of cultural heritages and the indicators indicated closed correlations with humidity conditions in indoor of facilities.

  • As a vital part of renewable energy and electrical traction, power converters are supposed to have high reliability and good performance. However, power semiconductors produce considerable heat when the power converter works, which results in high junction temperatures that lower the reliability and performance of the power semiconductors. Many studies show that ambient humidity has a significant effect on power devices, but the influence of high humidity on junction temperatures has yet to be studied. Therefore, this paper presents a thermal model for power converters in moist air to obtain the junction temperature increase, which is utilized for the power converter used in a Switched Reluctance Motor System. Simulation results show that the law of converter temperature distribution is independent of the relative humidity in the case of fixed ambient temperature, whereas the temperature in the power converter decreases as the ambient relative humidity increases. These simulation results are validated with the experimental results.

  • In finishing work, defects are often taken place by many factors. One of them is the thermo-humidity condition on the work surface as coating and anointing adhesives. Thus, the condition of thermo-humidity on work surface should be checked prior to the finishing work. However, many construction companies show a tendency to overlook it because not only are measurement tools so expensive but they don't have skilled hands about those tools. Therefore, we propose the measurement method that makes it easy to recognize surface thermo-humidity condition so as to reduce constructional flaws. And then we test this product. The test progresses to four stages with various conditions. We evaluate its usefulness and application possibility of this product in the field.

  • An experimental study has been carried out to investigate the dehumidification characteristics for several operating conditions of a compact desiccant rotor. This problem is of particular interest in the design of a desiccant type of dehumidifier. Room temperature, room humidity, regeneration temperature, revolution speed and frontal air velocity of desiccant rotor are varied as operating conditions. The results obtained indicate that dehumidification rate is increased with an increase in the room humidity while dehumidification effectiveness is not changed much. It is also found that the optimal rotor speed and optimal regeneration temperature exist for maximum dehumidification rate and dehumidification effectiveness.

  • A computational study is performed to clarify the characteristics of supersonic moist air jet issuing from a simple sonic nozzle. The effects of the initial supersaturation on the Mach disk diameter and location, the barrel shock wave and jet boundary structures are investigated in details. The axisymmetric, compressible, Navier-Stokes equations, coupled with droplet growth equation, are solved using a third-order MUSCL type TVD finite-difference scheme. It is found that the Mach disk diameter increases with an increase in relative humidity of moist air. while its location is not significantly dependent on the relative humidity. As the relative humidity increases, the barrel shock wave and jet boundary are more expanded due to the local static pressure rise of nonequilibrium condensation.

  • This study was conducted to select the sensors for measuring temperature, relative humidity, and air velocity among the major environmental factors affecting the pig productivity as a part of the study for the optimum production system model development of pig-housing. The study results are summarized as the follows : Two sensors , HMP233L and HANI, were tested for measuring temperature and relative humidity , Test results were analyzed by the statistical methods. And the sensor, HMP233L was selected as a proper sensor for temperature sand relative humidity measurement . An air velocity sensor was tested. Test results showed that its accuracy was low and incongruent for the air velocity measurement when it was lower than 4m/s.

  • The electrical conductivity, flammable gas response and their humidity effect of porous ZnO, added with 5wt% corn starch as the fugitive phase, were examined. Porous ZnO showed different conductivity curves during increasing and decreasing temperature, and its electrical conductivity decreased rapidly by desorption of OH- between 20$0^{\circ}C$ and 35$0^{\circ}C$ when the temperature increased in dry air. The CO gas sensitivity of starchadded ZnO samples was higher than that of ZnO without starch addition. The sensitivity of porous, starchadded ZnO to 200ppm CO gas was much less in humid atmosphere than in dry atmosphere since water vapor increased the conductivity of porous ZnO in air, but decreased the conductivity in CO. Maximum sensitivity to 200 ppm CO gas balanced by air was about 100 in dry atmosphere and about 15 in RH 23% atmosphere.

  • The solar shading height for the cultivation of plants is a very important factor because it has an effect on the variations of the solar energy. In this study, the solar shadings were built in Daegu region to investigate the optimum thermal conditions for the cultivation of plants and to provide the basic data. The thermal environment factors (dry bulb temperature, relative humidity, air velocity) were then measured and analyzed. It is found that the heights of the solar shadings have an uniform effect on the thermal environment for the cultivation of plants: the higher the heights of the solar shadings the higher temperature was obtained. But surprisingly this trend was not found for the relative humidity and the air velocity.

  • In this study, the thermal environment of a certain building was investigated by using of concerned equipments and enquete sheets. The measured items were temperature, humidity, air flow and radiant heat, and thermal responses for the occupants were checked also, which are oriented to be used as basic data for environmental design. The results of this study are as followed. 1. The optimal room temperature was $24\~26.5^{\circ}C$ DBT in cooling season. 2. Under the condition from $50\%\;to\;70\%$ of relative humidity, the difference of relative humidity did not impact upon the feeling temperature. 3. In cooling season, the average clothing factor of occupants was 0.34 clo ; 0.49 clo for men and 0.25 clo for women. 4. The average working factor of occupants was $1.1\~1.3\;Met$ in that cooling season.
