The aim of this paper was to improve the shortcomings of Pitcher Concrete, a conventional ethylene-based polymer used in combination with the other components, and present basic data for use as improved road pavement material by applying an acrylic polymer. Existing ethylene polymer-based pitcher concrete materials were selected. Acrylic polymer was then added and the resulting mixture was evaluated. The compressive strength of the existing ethylene-based polymer pitcher concrete combination was low due to the large air gap, and a compressive strength of 24MPa was observed on the 28th day of road use, as defined by KS for an acrylic polymer-based pitcher concrete combination. Regarding the bending strength, the combined strength of the acrylic polymer-based pitcher concrete was excellent, and the factor of the pitcher was measured above the reference, 0.1(mm/s), in all variables. All parameters measured were less than 1%. The acrylic polymer mixing characteristics were able to maintain the dynamic modulus of elasticity for more than 120 cycles, but not more than 80 cycles for the other combinations. Therefore, the addition of more acrylic polymer than conventional ethylene polymer base is effective in improving the durability.
This paper proposes an initial rotor magnetic pole detection method for single-phase permanent magnet synchronous motors. The target motor cannot obtain position information based on the back emf in the low speed and stop state. Therefore, an open loop starting process is required, and in this process, initial rotor position information for low current and soft start is need. The proposed initial rotor magnetic pole detection algorithm considers the effect of asymmetric air- gap and magnetic flux. In addition, the high-frequency voltage signal injection and the offset voltage for accurate detection is used. As a result, the permanent magnet poles are is determined by acquiring the maximum value of the induced current using the virtual dq-axis.
In this paper, a cylindrical photonic crystal waveguide with a low-index core is first proposed. The core can be filled with air, liquid, or arbitrary dielectric materials. Exact analyses for the electromagnetic field characteristics of guided modes, by using appropriate Bessel functions and applying the boundary conditions, are performed to find out the guiding characteristics of the proposed waveguide. For verification and usage in design and manufacturing process, the computer-calculation of the waveguide transmission characteristics is also performed by applying the rigorous full-vectorial finite difference method. Providing variations of the effective area for the fundamental mode of the designed waveguide with different numbers of cladding layers, ranging from 2.6056 ㎛2 to 5.9673 ㎛2 over the operation wavelength, generally as the core refractive index n1 is higher, the mode area becomes smaller and the result leads to more optimistic effect for nonlinear device applications.
Recently, research and system using AI is rapidly increasing in various fields. Smart farm using artificial intelligence and information communication technology is also being studied in agriculture. In addition, data-based precision agriculture is being commercialized by convergence various advanced technology such as autonomous driving, satellites, and big data. In Korea, the number of commercialization cases of facility agriculture among smart agriculture is increasing. However, research and investment are being biased in the field of facility agriculture. The gap between research and investment in facility agriculture and open-air agriculture continues to increase. The fields of fruit trees and plant factories have low research and investment. There is a problem that the big data collection and utilization system is insufficient. In this paper, we are proposed the system for determining the fruit tree growth stage using a deep learning-based object detection model. The system was proposed as a hybrid app for use in agricultural sites. In addition, we are implemented an object detection function for the fruit tree growth stage determine.
The paper presents the effect of operating temperatures and flow rates on the distillate flux that can be obtained from a hydrophobic membrane having the characteristics: pore size of 0.15 ㎛; thickness of 130 ㎛; and 85% porosity. That membrane in the present investigation could be the direct contact (DCMD) or the air-gap membrane distillation (AGMD). To model numerically the membrane distillation processes, the two-dimensional computational fluid dynamic (CFD) is used for the DCMD and AGMD cases here. In this work, DCMD and AGMD models have been validated with the experimental data using different flows (Parallel and Counter-current flows) in non-steady-state situations. A good agreement is obtained between the present results and those of the experimental data in the literature. The new approach in the present numerical modeling has allowed examining effects of the nature of materials (Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) polymers, copolymers, and blends) used on thermal properties. Moreover, the effect of the area surface of the membrane (0.021 to 3.15 ㎡) is investigated to explore both the laminar and the turbulent flow regimes. The obtained results found that copolymer P(VDF-TrFE) (80/20) is more effective than the other materials of membrane distillation (MD). The mass flux and thermal efficiency reach 193.5 (g/㎡s), and 83.29 % using turbulent flow and an effective area of 3.1 ㎡, respectively. The increase of feed inlet temperatures and its flow rate, with the reduction of cold temperatures and its flow rate are very effective for increasing distillate water flow in MD applications.

The aim of this study was to measure and analyze engine load factor (LF) according to working conditions (operation type and gear stage) of small agricultural multi-purpose cultivator to estimate the emission of air pollutants. To calculate LF, a torque sensor capable of collecting torque and rotational speed was installed on the engine output shaft and DAQ was used to collect data. A field test was conducted with major operation of a cultivator and tillage operations (plow tillage and rotary tillage). Engine power was calculated using engine torque and rotational speed and LF was calculated using real-time power and rated power. In addition, unified LF was calculated using the weight for each operation and the average LF for each operation. As a result, average LF values at 1.87 and 3.10 km/h by plow tillage were 0.50 and 0.69, respectively. Average LF values at 1.87 and 3.10 km/h by rotary tillage were 0.70 and 0.78, respectively. Furthermore, unified LF calculated in consideration of the weight factor showed a value of 0.65, which was 135% higher than the conventional LF (0.48). Results of this study could be used as basic information for realizing LF values in the field of agricultural machinery.

Currently, the most commonly used EPS insulation material has been mainly used because its ease of adhesion with concrete. However, due to poor adhesion with wallpaper, separate adhesion needs to be strengthened and there are cases of breakage or grooves in the process of dismantling the mold. The biggest problem is that when a fire breaks out, various harmful substances are present and highly flammable. Cork used in this study is a truly eco-friendly building material that is taken from between the outer and inner bark of cork trees and does not damage the wood. Also, it is a porous material that is made up of countless cells and contains an air gap between the cells. It is very light in weight between 0.06 and 0.07 and has excellent insulation with a heat conductivity of 0.04W/mK. In addition, it has high stability in the topic of conversation because it does not produce harmful gas when burned and has self-sustaining properties. However, research on cork, an eco-friendly building material with excellent performance to date, is scarce Therefore, we encourage existing scholars to raise interest in new eco-friendly building materials through this study. It also aims to manufacture insulation boards with new inorganic properties using the low weight and heat conductivity held by the cork.

As for two-phase flow in rectangular channels, the flow regimes especially like churn-turbulent and annular flow are significant for the physical problem like Countercurrent Flow Limitation (CCFL). In this study, the rectangular channels with cross-sections of 4 × 66 mm, 6 × 66 mm, 8 × 66 mm are adopted to investigate the flow regimes of air-water vertical upward two phase flow under adiabatic condition. The gas and liquid superficial velocities are 0 ≤ jg ≤ 20m/s and 0.25 ≤ jf ≤ 3m/s respectively which covering bubbly to annular flow. The flow regimes are identified by random forest algorithm and the flow regime maps are obtained. As the results, the transitional void fraction from slug to churn turbulent flow fluctuate from 0.47 to 0.58 which is significantly affected by the dimensional size of channel and flow rate. Besides, the void fraction at transitional points from churn-turbulent (slug) to annular flow are 0.66-0.67, which are independent with the gap size. Furthermore, a new criteria of slug to churn-turbulent flow is established in this study. In addition, by introducing the interfacial force model, the criteria of churn-turbulent (slug) flow to annular flow is verified.
Background: The available information on terrestrial pest gastropods and their impact on the environment worldwide is scarce and outdated. The present study aimed to address this gap by conducting the first comprehensive survey of pest gastropods in the Nuwara Eliya District, an important vegetable growing area in the highlands of Sri Lanka. Eighty agricultural lands were surveyed over two years by establishing ten 1 m2 sampling plots per crop type in each agricultural land. Geo-coordinates, air temperature, elevation, relative humidity, daily rainfall, soil pH, species richness and abundance were recorded for rainy and non-rainy periods. The relationship between species composition and environmental variables was analyzed using multi-regression models and distribution maps. Results: Out of the 14 species recorded in agricultural lands, nine were identified as exotic pest species. Species abundance (t = 4.69, p < 0.05) and diversity was higher in the rainy period and the dominant species during this period were Bradybaena similaris (t = 2.69, p < 0.05) and Deroceras reticulatum (t = 2. 46, p < 0.05). Eggs and estivating adults were found in soil and under decaying organic matter during the non-rainy period. The exotic species showed broader preferences for the measured environmental factors and showed a wider range in distribution compared to the native species. Variation in pest gastropod composition was significantly accounted for by elevation, relative humidity, soil pH and daily rainfall. Additionally, the species richness and abundance varied across locations due to the combined effects of elevation, crop type and stage, and field type. Conclusions: The study emphasizes the importance of understanding the biology and ecology of gastropod pests to develop effective management strategies. By considering the influence of environmental factors and implementing appropriate soil management techniques, such as targeting specific habitats and crop stages, it is possible to mitigate pest populations and minimize their impact on agricultural lands. Overall, this research contributes valuable insights into the dynamics and interactions of terrestrial gastropods in agricultural ecosystems, supporting sustainable pest management practices.

This study analyzed the science texts covering 'air pressure' and 'wind' in common with every curriculum from the syllabus period to the $7^{th}$ curriculum in terms of Systemic Functional Linguistics. Important findings revealed in this study were as follows: In the aspect of ideational metafunction, the texts including much scientific information were reduced by curriculum revision. Most forms of information were 'definition' and 'fact' rather than 'principle'. In the aspect of interpersonal metafunction, the gap between students and texts were getting closer and the social position of students were concerned gradually by curriculum revisions. In the aspect of textual metafunction, the ratios of technical terminology and notation were reduced, however the amount of texts in science textbooks were reduced as well. While the subject was presented in the early texts, it was omitted as time went on. The consistency of subject and theme were reduced in the $7^{th}$ curriculum remarkably.
