Background: Depressive disorders can be categorized into daily depression and clinical depression. The experience of depressive disorder can increase health care utilization due to decreased treatment compliance and somatization. On the other hand, the clinical depression group may also experience social prejudice associated with the illness, which can limit their access to health care utilization. In terms of the significance of health care utilization as a factor in individual and social issues, this study aims to compare the health care utilization of the clinical depression group with that of the non-depressed group and the daily depression group. Methods: The analysis utilized the inverse probability of treatment weighting based on the generalized propensity score. Results: As a result of the analysis, clinical depression and daily depression were higher among women, low-income groups, individuals with low education levels, and so forth. The clinical depression group was also higher among individuals who were not economically active, did not have private health insurance, or had multiple chronic diseases. The number of outpatient department visits in the depression group was significantly higher than in the non-depressed group. In addition, the number of outpatient department visits for the clinical depression group was significantly higher than that for the daily depression group. Outpatient medical expenses were higher in the depression group than in the non-depressed group, and there was no significant difference between the clinical depression group and the daily depression group. Conclusion: Health care utilization was higher in the depression group than the non-depressed group, it was also higher in the clinical depression group than the daily depression group.
To synthesize the Ti3AlC2 MAX phase, a crucial precursor for generating the two-dimensional material MXene, the use of Ti scrap as an initial material is an economically feasible approach. This study aims to optimize the synthesis conditions for the phase fraction of the Ti3AlC2 MAX phase utilizing Ti scrap as the Ti source. The deoxidation of Ti powders, prepared through the hydrogenation-dehydrogenation process from Ti scrap, was effectively accomplished using the deoxidation in solid-state (DOSS) process. The optimal synthesis conditions were established by blending DOSS-Ti, Al, and graphite powders with particle sizes ranging from 25 ~ 32 ㎛ in a molar ratio of 3:1.1:2. The resulting phase fractions were as follows: Ti3AlC2 at 97.25 wt.%, TiC at 0.93 wt.%, and Al3Ti at 1.82 wt.%. Furthermore, the oxygen content of the Ti3AlC2 MAX powder, spanning from 25 ~ 45 ㎛, was measured at 4,210 ppm.
The study primarily aims to examine the characteristics of the transition from natural landscape to modern agricultural landscape on the Daesan plain in Dong-myeon, Changwon-si, in the lower reaches of the Nakdong River. The periods covered in the transition include the late Joseon Dynasty, the early Japanese colonial period, and the late Japanese colonial period. The study concluded the following: It was found that the Daesan Plain used to function as a hydrophilic landscape before it formed into a rural landscape. This is characterized by the various water resources in the Plain, primarily by the Nakdong River, with its back marsh tributaries, the Junam Reservoir and Jucheon. To achieve its recent form, the Daesan Plain was subjected to human trial and error. Through installation of irrigation facilities such as embankments and sluices, the irregularly-shaped wetlands were transformed into large-scale farmlands while the same irrigation facilities underwent constant renovation to permanently stabilize the rural landscape. These processes of transformation were similarly a product of typical colonial expropriation. During the Japanese colonial period, Japanese capitalists initiated the construction of private farms which led to the national land development policy by the Governor-General of Korea. These landscape changes are indicative of resource capitalism depicted by the expansion of agricultural production value by the application of resource capital to undeveloped natural space for economic viability. As a result, the hierarchical structure was magnified resulting to the exacerbation of community and economic structural imbalances which presents an alternative yet related perspective to the evolution of landscapes during the Japanese colonial period. In addition, considering Daesan Plain's vulnerability to changing weather conditions, natural processes have also been a factor to its landscape transformation. Such occurrences endanger the sustainability of the area as when floods inundate cultivated lands and render them unstable, endangering residents, as well as the harvests. In conclusion, the Daesan Plain originally took the form of a hydrophilic landscape and started significantly evolving into a rural landscape since the Japanese colonial period. Human-induced land development and geophysical processes significantly impacted this transformation which also exemplifies the several ways of how undeveloped natural landscapes turn into mechanized and capitalized rural landscapes by colonial resource capitalism and development policies.
Background: The use of scented candles and incense sticks, both of which are household products that are burned for indoor deodorization and calming effects, is increasing. Fine dust has been designated as a group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) affect air pollution and can cause diseases. Objectives: This study aims to determine the effect on indoor air quality by measuring PM2.5 and VOCs generated when burning scented candles and incense sticks. Methods: Scented candles and incense sticks were selected as household products to burn. As for the target sample, top-selling products (five types of scented candles, five types of incense sticks) were purchased online. The PM2.5 concentration according to time was measured immediately next to the sample and three meters away from each other in an enclosed space using a real-time aerosol photometer. VOCs were collected as samples under the same conditions using Tenax tubes and were quantitatively analyzed by TD-GC/MS. Results: In the case of scented candles, the concentration of PM2.5 did not increase during combustion and after being extinguished by placing a cover on the candle. For the incense sticks, the concentration of PM2.5 averaged 1,901.27 ㎍/m3. After burning scented candles and incense sticks, some VOCs concentrations were increased such as ethyl acetate and BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene). Conclusions: Therefore, when using scented candles, extinguishment by placing a cover on the candle can be expected to reduce PM2.5. It is advisable to avoid using incense sticks because PM2.5 concentration increases from the start of combustion.
This study aims to test the relationship between brand embeddedness and cross-selling intention, as well as how customer satisfaction affects as mediator its relationship. The data set includes 258 consumers using a specific smartphone brand and we gather the data by conducting a survey. We use structural equation modeling to verify hypotheses and do nonparametric bootstrap approach for additional analysis of the mediating role of customer satisfaction. The results of analysis are as follows. First, it has been shown that barnd embeddedness positively affects customer satisfaction and cross-buying intention. Second, customer satisfaction is found to have a positive effect on cross-buying. By combining these results and additional analysis, we confirm that the direct effect of brand embeddedness is more effective for cross-buying intention than the indirect effect of customer satisfaction. The results of this empirical analysis show the academic value that brand embeddedness as social capital can be a antecedent for cross-buying intention. In addition, this study suggests the need for brand practitioners to increase the embeddedness of customers related to the brand and consider the mediating role of customer satisfaction together in order to increase cross-buying.

This study aims to investigate the changes in the employment structure of occupational groups by job characteristics and analyze the factors influencing wage premiums in local labor markets from 2010 to 2020. This study's analysis involves three primary steps. First, the occupational characteristics data from the Korea Network for Occupations and Workers are subjected to an exploratory factor analysis, and then a non-routine task intensity index is calculated by each occupations. Then, we conduct an exploratory analysis of changes in the distribution of employment by occupation from 2010 to 2020 by combining data from the Population Census with data from the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study to construct individual-level and regional-level data. Thirdly, we employ a hierarchical linear model to examine the individual-level and regional-level factors influencing wage premiums. Since 2010, the proportion of employment in occupations requiring non-routine task has continued to rise and now dominates the metropolitan labor market. Moreover, agglomeration effects resulting from urbanization produce a substantial wage premium for wage workers in occupations requiring non-routine tasks. This study seeks to provide policy implications to mitigate inequality and polarization in local labor markets by empirically analyzing the transition of occupational structure and wage inequality in relation to the local labor market context.
It has recently be emphasized in science education that lessons that can develop "scientific participation and action" should be implemented to scientifically recognize various problems and respond to them as well as risks that occur in real life. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of scientific participation and action lessons as perceived by the preservice primary school teachers. To do that, the researchers collected and analyzed the lesson plans designed by the preservice teachers based on the achievement standard related to noise for grades 3-4 in 2022 revised science curriculum. Focusing on the stages of "problem recognition," "data collection and analysis," and "implementation and sharing," the results identity the four main characteristics as problem-solving activity, inquiry activity, investigative activity, and activity that encourages practical actions. The two or three features were found to be combinated in a lesson depending on its context. In some cases, only one feature was seen in a lesson. Based on the results, educational implications were discussed in terms of the teaching and learning methods and teacher education for implementing scientific participation and action.
Due to the recent transition to a non-face-to-face society, many organizations are quickly adapting to foster a smart work environment. The introduction of smart work does not simply end with incorporating ICT systems or solutions into business models since fundamental factors such as forms of employment and work styles need to be in line with the progression of technological advances. However, previous studies regarding smart work focus on improvements in productivity and efficiency from a technology acceptance perspective. Therefore, there is a lack of discussion on innovation resistance from employees and management control when ICT systems are introduced into the workplace. This study empirically analyzes the moderating effects of the organizational control method for employees and innovation resistance within a smart work environment. Additionally, this study aims to identify the structural characteristics that employees resist from an innovation resistance perspective when organizational innovation occurs. The empirical analysis of this study suggests that when smart work such as ICT technology is introduced into the workplace the level of innovation resistance decreases when there is a high level of relative advantage and self-efficacy, whereas the level of innovation resistance increases when there is a high level of use complexity. Moreover, this study revealed that the level of innovation resistance increases when the employees' behaviors were controlled. The results of this study intend to contribute to improving business management by suggesting factors worth considering when incorporating smart work into work places through a thorough case analysis.
Objective: This research aims to explore the nutritional and bioactive peptide properties of goat meat taken from various primal cuts, including the breast, shoulder, rib, loin, and leg, to produce these bioactive peptides during in vitro gastrointestinal (GI) digestion and absorption. Methods: The goat meat from various primal cuts was obtained from Boer goats with an average carcass weight of 30±2 kg. The meat was collected within 3 h after slaughter and was stored at -80℃ until analysis. A comprehensive assessment encompassed various aspects, including the chemical composition, cooking properties, in vitro GI digestion, bioactive characteristics, and the bioavailability of the resulting peptides. Results: The findings indicate that the loin muscles contain the highest protein and essential amino acid composition. When the meats were cooked at 70℃ for 30 min, they exhibited distinct protein compositions and quantities in the sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis profile, suggesting they served as different protein substrates during GI digestion. Subsequent in vitro simulated GI digestion revealed that the cooked shoulder and loin underwent the most significant hydrolysis during the intestinal phase, resulting in the strongest angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) and dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV) inhibition. Following in vitro GI peptide absorption using a Caco-2 cell monolayer, the GI peptide derived from the cooked loin demonstrated greater bioavailability and a higher degree of ACE and DPP-IV inhibition than the shoulder peptide. Conclusion: This study highlights the potential of goat meat, particularly cooked loin, as a functional meat source for protein, essential amino acids, and bioactive peptides during GI digestion and absorption. These peptides promise to play a role in preventing and treating metabolic diseases due to their dual inhibitory effects on ACE and DPP-IV.
This study aims to analyze online game user's game items transacting behaviors for the two game genres such as MMORPG and sports game. For the sake of conducting the analysis, we adopted a fuzzy logic agent-based modeling. In the online game fields, game items transactions are crucial to game company's profitability. However, there are lack of previous studies investigating the online game user's game items transacting activities. Since many factors need to be addressed in a complicated way, ABM (agent-based modeling) simulation mechanism is adopted. Besides, a fuzzy logic is also considered due to the fact that a number of uncertainties and ambiguities exist with respect to online game user's complex behaviors in transacting game items. Simulation results from applying the fuzzy logic ABM method revealed that MMORPG game users are motivated to pay expensive price for high-performance game items, while sports game users tend to transact game items within a reasonable price range. We could conclude that the proposed fuzzy logic ABM simulation mechanism proved to be very useful in organizing an effective strategy for online game items management and customers retention.
