  • The property and applicability of the organic-inorganic synthesized penetrating and reinforcing agent, which is developed in order to improve durability of concrete structures and prevent deterioration that may occur as service years increased, are researched with experimental works. TEOS (tetra-ethoxyorthosilicate) and acrylate monomer are synthesized by the solution polycondensation method in order to formulate silicate with sol-gel process and improve durability of concrete. Additional substances such as isobutyl-orthosilicate is supplemented in order to improve the performance of the agent. After the developed organic-inorganic penetrating reinforcing agent penetrates, a flexible impact alleviating layer is formed with organic monomers as well as the agent strengthens concrete by filling up the internal pore of concrete with stable compounds after penetration. Penetrating and reinforcing agent can be applied as an effective life management method because it makes concrete more durable against the aging factors, such as chloride ion, carbonation, freezing-thawing, and compound aging.

  • This paper aims to calculate age coefficient of ultrasonic pulse velocity by non-destructive test. When concrete compressive strength is measured by non-destructive test, rebound test hammer method is applied to estimate age coefficient depending on the course of time after concrete casting, but ultrasonic pulse velocity method is not applied in the process. Although it is necessary to consider age coefficient with change of ultrasonic pulse velocity of concrete depending on aging, there have been little attempts to apply that method. The experiments were conducted to calculate aging effects which will be applied to establish the formula of measuring concrete strength. As a result of experiments, it was found that ultrasonic pulse velocity showed radical changes depending on concrete hardening in comparison with initial standard values. So, it was concluded that age coefficient must be applied to calculate strength. In conclusion, age coefficient of ultrasonic pulse velocity of concrete was suggested on the basis of experimental results.

  • The prediction model is proposed to estimate the variation of compressive strength of fly ash concrete with aging. After analyzing the experimental result with the model, the regression results are presented according to fly ash replacement content and water-cement ratio. Based on the regression results, the influence of fly ash replacement content and water-cement ratio on apparent activation energy was investigated. According to the analysis, the model provides a good estimate of compressive strength development of fly ash concrete with aging. As the fly ash replacement content increases, the limiting relative compressive strength and initial apparent activation energy become greater. The concrete with water-cement ratio smaller than 0.40 shows that the limiting relative compressive strength and apparent activation energy are nearly constant according to water-cement ratio. But, the concrete with water-cement ratio greater than 0.40 has the increasing limiting relative compressive strength and apparent activation energy with increasing water-cement ratio.

  • This study is to analyze the properties of concrete according to the types of binders and cement powder and to utilize them as fundamental data for the development of early strength concrete. In the case of fluidity, all of the formulations satisfied the 180±25mm, and the flowability of HSF was decreased by high fineness cement. For the air content, 4.5±1.5% of the total content was satisfied. Compressive strength of HSF was found to satisfy the 5MPa in 2days of aging. In case of 28 days of aging, the strength of HSF was more than 24MPa.

  • The seismic fragility analyses of reinforced concrete propelled beam are performed to evaluate safety margin. The models were simulated by Latin Hyper-Cube (LHC) method considering various aging-related deterioration of RC beam. Fragility curves under various condition subjected to static load are compared. It is found that the 20$\%$ loss of top and bottom steel 15$\%$ lower than the undegraded beam in the ultimate strength. Seismic fragility analyses were performed to find out the effect of aging-related deterioration on the dynamic behaviour of RC beam.

  • Over the past couple decades, externally bonded fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites have emerged as a repair and strengthening material for many concrete infrastructure applications. This paper presents an analytical investigation of the use of carbon FRP (CFRP) for a specific problem that occurs in concrete bridge girders wherein the girder ends are damaged by excessive exposure to deicing salts and numerous freezing/thawing cycles. A 3D finite element (FE) model of a full scale prestressed concrete (PC) I-girder is used to investigate the effect of damage to the cover concrete and stirrups in the end region of the girder. Parametric studies are performed using externally bonded CFRP shear laminates to determine the most effective repair schemes for the damaged end region under a short shear span-to-depth ratio. Experimental results on shear pull off tests of CFRP laminates that have undergone accelerated aging are used to calibrate a bond stress-slip model for the interface between the FRP and concrete substrate and approximate the reduced bond stress-slip properties associated with exposure to the environment that causes this type of end region damage. The results of these analyses indicate that this particular application of this material can be effective in recovering the original strength of PC bridge girders with damaged end regions, even after environmental aging.

  • The nonlinear humidity distribution occurs due to the moisture diffusion when a concrete is exposed to an ambient air. This nonlinear humidity distribution induces shrinkage cracks on surfaces of the concrete. Because shrinkage cracks largely affect the durability and serviceability of concrete structures, the moisture diffusion in concrete must be investigated. The purpose of this paper is to propose a model of the moisture diffusion coefficient that governs moisture diffusion within concrete structures. To propose the model, numerical analysis was performed with several experiments. Because the moisture diffusion coefficient is changed with aging, especially at early ages, the proposed model includes aging effect by terms of the porosity as well as the humidity of concrete.

  • This research investigates the moisture and aging effects of wastepaper fiber-cement composites. Wastepaper fibers is obtained by a dry process. Wastepaper fiber-cement composites was manufactured by the hatscheck process. The effects of moisture and aging on the performance of wastepaper fiber-cement composites were investigated through accelerated laboratory tests simulating the effects of moisture sensitivity and wet-dry cycles as well as freeze-thaw cycles and long-term drying. They were shown to possess acceptable moisture and aging performance compared with virgin fiber cement composites.

  • This study deals with the effect on performance of epoxy resign mortar mixed special cement for surface control and maintenance of aging concrete construction. The test of main property of epoxy resign in this study are the evaluation on the adhesive strength between substrate and epoxy resign mortar under the environment of wet or concrete substrate surface. We gained the test results of good adhesive strength over 15 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ under the wet and dry condition of concrete surface.

  • Non-destructive field tests of the concrete has achieved increasing acceptance for the evaluation of existing concrete structures. But the application of this test has not still accomplished to guarantee perfectly the durability of the concrete bridges in Korea. As two major testing methods, this paper recommends the proper empirical relationship between the rebound number together with the ultrasonic pulse velocity and the core strength. Also, this paper recommend the relationships as the aging and as the element.
