This study investigated the relationship between maternal facilitative communication perceived by children and the social adjustment which was measured as pro-social behaviors and aggressive behaviors in children. Special attention was given to the mediating effect of the child's self-regulation on the relationship. The subjects, selected by convenience sampling method, were 193 fourth and fifth grade elementary school students. Data was analyzed through Pearson's correlation, reliability analysis, and multiple regression using the SPSS 12.0. The findings of the study were as follows. First, the mother's facilitative communication perceived by the child was positively associated with the pro-social behavior, while, it was negatively correlated with the aggressive behavior of the child. Second, the mother's facilitative communication had direct effect on the prosocial behavior and the aggressive behavior of the child. Third, the direct impact of facilitative communication on social adjustment was mediated by the self-regulation variable. Based on these findings, this study proposes strategies for the improvement of children's adjustment during late childhood.
Pigs' aggressive behavior represents one of the common issues that occur inside pigpens and which harm pigs' health and welfare, resulting in a financial burden to farmers. Continuously monitoring several pigs for 24 hours to identify those behaviors manually is a very difficult task for pig caretakers. In this study, we propose a lightweight video-based approach for monitoring pigs' aggressive behavior that can be implemented even in small-scale farms. The proposed system receives sequences of frames extracted from an RGB video stream containing pigs and uses MnasNet with a DM value of 0.5 to extract image features from pigs' ROI identified by predefined annotations. These extracted features are then forwarded to a lightweight LSTM to learn temporal features and perform behavior recognition. The experimental results show that our proposed model achieved 0.92 in recall and F1-score with an execution time of 118.16 ms/sequence.
In this study, mothers of 205 4- to 5-year-old preschoolers responded to aggression episodes of Werner et al. (2006); preschoolers' teachers responded to the Preschool Social Behavior Scale (Crick et al., 1997). Results showed, (1) boys exhibited more overt and relational aggression. (2) In overt aggression episodes, mothers used encouragement to boys and rule violation responses to girls; in relational aggression episodes, mothers used encouragement and power assertion responses to girls. (3) Mothers' power assertion about overt aggression related negatively with preschoolers' overt aggressive behaviors; mothers' discussion about relational aggression related positively with preschoolers' overt aggressive behaviors. Implications of these findings for the mothers' responses by aggression types were discussed in order in better understand preschooler's aggressive behaviors.
The purpose of this study was to examine the differences between aggressive and nonaggressive boys with the use of a social information processing approach. The subjects were 80 3rd & 6th grade boys selected from a public elementary school in Seoul. The subjects were interviewed individually. Following the presentation of each story, five questions were asked. A 2 x 2 Analysis of Variance was performed for each of the 5 dependent measures. Results showed (1) Aggressive boys were more likely to attribute a hostile intention to the behavior of peer. (2) Aggressive boys predicted their own response as more hostile and aggressive. (3) The 6th graders generated more alternative solutions than the 3rd graders. (4) Non significant results are not reported in the abstract. (5) Aggressive boys were likely to choose an ineffective solution.
This paper presents the potential of in-vehicle data recorder system for monitoring aggressive driving patterns and providing feedback to drivers on their on road behaviour. This system can detect 10 risky types of drivers' driving patterns such as aggressive lane change, sudden brakes and turns with acceleration etc. Vehicle dynamics simulation and vehicle road test have been performed in order to develop driving pattern recognition algorithms. Recorder systems are installed to 50 buses in a single company. Drivers' driving behaviour are monitored for 1 month. The drivers' risky driving data collected by the system are analyzed. Aggressive lane change in 50km/h below is a cause in overwhelming majority of risky driving pattern.
Objective: To describe the effectiveness of traditional Korean medicine (TKM) on a patient showing aggressive behavior after a traumatic brain injury. Methods: We used complex TKM treatments. The acupoints used were as follows: Soyangin Taegeuk acupuncture (HT3, KI3, and SP3) and acupoints frequently used in hemiparesis (GV20, GV24, ST4, LI11, LI4, ST36, GB34, SP9, and LR3). Moxibustion was also applied to GV20, and herbal medicine (Samulanshin-tang-gami, 四物安神湯 加味方) was administered. The efficacy was evaluated at baseline, week 8, and week 16 using the Modified Overt Aggression Scale (MOAS). Results: After 8 weeks, the total MOAS score was decreased from 13 to 5, and this score was maintained until week 16. The average sleep time was increased and waking up during the night was decreased. Conclusions: We suggest that TKM could be effective for reducing aggressive behavior and alleviating sleep disturbances. Further studies are needed.
Objective : Stereotactic psychosurgery is known as one of effective means of treating in some medically intractable psychiatric illness. However, it is unfamiliar and it's long-term clinical result has not reported in our country. The authors evaluated its long-term results of pscychosurgery and discussed its neuroanatomical basis. Methods : Since 1993, eight patients underwent stereotactic psychosurgery for medically intractable psychiatric illnesses. All were referred from psychiatrist of these disorders, one was aggressive behavior, five were obsessive-compulsive disorders(OCD), and two were depression with anxiety disorders. Bilateral amygdalotomy and subcaudate tractotomy were done for aggressive behavior, and limbic leukotomy was done for OCD and depression with anxiety. The results of OCD were evaluated with with YBOCS(Yale-Brown obsessive compulsive scale) and VAS (visual analogue scale), CGI(clinical global impairment) in OCD, and OAS(overt aggression scale), MMS, WAIS were checked for the evaluation of aggressive behavior. Hamilton depression scale(HAMD) was used for evaluation of depression. Ventriculography was used in the first five patients and MR-guided stereotaxy was used in recent three cases for localization of target. The lesions were made with radiofrequency lesion generator. Results : With long-term follow up(mean 45 months) in five OCDs, mean YBOCS declined from 34 to 3(n=5). All returned to previous social life. In OAS scores of aggressive behavior during six-year follow up, scores declined from 8 to 2 with clinical improvement. In two patients with depression with anxiety, HAMD declined from 28.5 to 16.5(n=2). There was no operative mortality and no significant morbidity except one case of mild transient urinary incontinence. Conclusion : With these long-term results, authors assumed that stereotactic psychosurgery could be one of safe and effective mtherapeutic methods in several medically intractable psychiatric illness.

Ketamine has long been used as an anesthetic agent. However, ketamine use is associated with numerous side effects, including flashbacks, amnesia, delirium, and aggressive or violent behavior. Ketamine has also been abused as a cocktail with ecstasy, cocaine, and methamphetamine. Several studies have investigated therapeutic applications of ketamine, demonstrating its antidepressant and anxiolytic effects in both humans and rodents. We recently reported that neonatal maternal separation causes enhanced anxiety- and aggressive-like behaviors in adolescent. In the present study, we evaluated how acute and chronic ketamine administration affected the behavioral consequences of neonatal maternal separation in adolescent mice. Litters were separated from dams for 4 hours per day for 19 days beginning after weaning. Upon reaching adolescence (post-natal day 35-49), mice were acutely (single injection) or chronically (7 daily injections) treated with a sub-anesthetic dose (15 mg/kg) of ketamine. At least 1 h after administration of ketamine, mice were subjected to open-field, elevated-plus maze, and resident-intruder tests. We found that acute ketamine treatment reduced locomotor activity. In contrast, chronic ketamine treatment decreased anxiety, as evidenced by increased time spent on open arms in the elevated-plus maze, and remarkably reduced the number and duration of attacks. In conclusion, the present study suggests that ketamine has potential for the treatment of anxiety and aggressive or violent behaviors.
The author aimed at clarifying the background variables that influence on the interpersonal behavior of youth, and getting the data for comprehensive guidance programs of youth in high schools and industries. In this study the author samples academic high school boys and girls, attached high schools boys and girls to industries and laboring youths. the Scale of interpersonal behavior was administered to the youths sampled as above and the data were analysed accounting to groups, sex, and religious. The results of the study are as follows. 1. The most important factor influenced the interpersonal behavior of youth was identified as social environment. That is, the youths in industries or students attached high school to industries showed more prominent characteristics in interpersonal behavior patterns. Then industrial environment effects more on the youth's behavior than school environment. 2. Sex differences were identified is in interpersonal behavior of youths. Boys are more managerial and autocretice, more cooperative, more docile, more self-efacing, more aggressive and more aggressive and more resistant than girls. But in christian group there found no sex differences is interpersonal behavior. 3. Religion was thought to be one of the most important influencing factor to the interpersonal behavior .But in this study there found no realistic effects, of religion on the interpersonal behavior as much as though of. 4. But according to the denominations, christianity was found to influences more on the interpersonal behavior of youths than Buddhism.
