유아의 언어능력 및 정서조절능력과 어머니의 양육행동이 유아의 또래유능성과 또래공격행동에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Preschool Children's Language Ability, Emotion Regulation, and Mothers' Parenting Behavior on Peer Competence and Aggressive Behavior)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of mothers' parenting behavior, preschool children's language ability and emotion regulation on peer competence and aggressive behavior. The subjects were 100 preschool children (49 girls and 51 boys; mean age, 70.30 months), their mothers and teachers, recruited from five daycare centers located in Gyeonggi-do area. Each child's language ability was assessed individually with the standardized measure, the Preschool Receptive-Expressive Language Scale and their teachers reported on the children's peer competence and aggressive behavior. Their mothers also reported on parenting behavior and their child's emotion regulation by questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed by correlation analysis and hierarchical regression. The main results of this study were as follows. First, preschool children's peer competence was positively related to maternal warmth and children's language ability. Their aggressive behavior was positively related to harsh maternal parenting but negatively related to emotion regulation. Second, hierarchical regression analyses revealed that children's language ability and maternal warmth predicted peer competence. Third, children's gender, emotion regulation, and harsh maternal parenting predicted aggressive behavior. These findings could provide basic information for programs and services to promote peer competence in preschool children.

Effects of Mixing on the Aggressive Behavior of Commercially Housed Pigs

  • In this study, we investigated the effects of mixing on the aggressive behavior of commercially housed pigs. The behavioral patterns of 36 groups of pigs (a total of 360 animals) were observed over 3 consecutive days directly after weaning ($25{\pm}1.2$ days of age), and 25 and 50 days later with the aid of video technology. Fight latency and total duration and frequency of fighting were significantly different among the age groups. The aggressive behaviors decreased in 75-day old pigs if compared to 25- and 50-day old animals. Moreover, dominance index (DI) was higher in 25-day old and lower in 75-day old pigs. A comparison of dominant (DI>0) and submissive (DI<0) pigs showed significant differences (p<0.05) for major aggressive behaviors in all age groups. Dominant pigs were involved in more aggressive interactions, had longer fights, and initiated more fights than submissive pigs. Post-mixing aggressive behavior was altered by previous experience of mixing. Aggressive behavior and DI are suitable methods for analyzing the effects of mixing on commercially housed growing pigs.

Modification of Severe Violent and Aggressive Behavior among Psychiatric Inpatients through the Use of a Short-Term Token Economy

  • Purpose: Meager research has been carried out to determine the effectiveness of the token economy among patients behaving violently in mental hospitals. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of the Short-Term Token Economy (STTE) on violent behavior among chronic psychiatric in-patients. Methods: A nonequivalent control group design method was utilized. Participants in an experimental group (n=22) and control group (n=22) took part in this study from January to April, 2008. Observation on aggressive behavior among male in-patients in one hospital as a baseline was made during the week before the behavior modification program and measurement of aggressive behavior was done using the Overt Aggression Scale (OAS), which includes verbal attacks, property damage and physical attacks. Results: The aggressive behavior scores of the experimental group decreased, those of the control group, scores showed an increase after the eight-week behavior modification program utilizing STTE. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that STTE is effective in reducing the incidence of aggressive behavior among male in-patients in psychiatric hospitals. The outcome of this study should be helpful in reducing the use of coercive measures or psychoactive medication in controlling the violent behavior among in-patients in hospitals.

공격적 문제행동을 보이는 자폐스펙트럼장애 아동청소년의 임상적 특징: 예비연구 (Clinical Characteristics of Aggressive Behavior Problems in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder: Preliminary Study)

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical characteristics of aggressive behavior problems in children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Methods: Children and adolescents with ASD, aged 6-18 years, were included in this study. We divided them into two groups according to the presence or absence of aggressive behavior. They were assessed using three scales, the Korean-Child Behavior Checklist (K-CBCL), Behavior Problem Inventory, and Social Communication Questionnaire, which were completed by their parents, who conducted a continuous performance test to evaluate their attention function. The statistical analysis was done using the Mann-Whitney U-test between the two groups at a p-value of 0.05. Results: A total of 17 children participated in this study. Ten children (7 boys, $12.4{\pm}4.27years$) were included in the group with aggressive behavior problems and 7 children (6 boys, $13.8{\pm}3.53years$) in the group without aggressive behavior problems. There were no significant differences in the age, gender or intelligence quotient of the two groups. The children with aggressive behavior problems showed a trend of higher T-scores in the attention problems and anxiety/depressed subscale of the CBLC (p<0.1). Conclusion: The results suggest that aggressive behavior problems in children with ASD may be related to their attention problems, anxiety and depression.

시설보호아동과 일반아동의 정서지능 및 유머감각이 공격행동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Emotional Intelligence and the Sense of Humor in Institutionalized and At-Home Children on their Aggressive Behavior)

  • This study explored the effects of emotional intelligence and sense of humor in institutionalized and at-home children on their aggressive behavior by using a path model. The participants in this study were 62 institutionalized children and 98 children reared at home, residing in an undisclosed city. The institutionalized children had a lower level of emotional intelligence and sense of humor than children at home. Also, the institutionalized children had a higher level of aggressive behavior than at-home children. Effects of emotional intelligence and sense of humor on the aggressive behavior were significantly different between institutionalized and at-home children.

폭력적 PC게임의 경험과 공격적 성격특성이 공격행동과 공격의도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Violent PC-Games and Aggressive Personality on Aggressive Behavior and Aggressive Intention)

  • 이 연구는 Anderson과 Bushman(2002)의 GAM에서 예언하는 공격행동과 공격의도에 대한 폭력적 PC게임의 경험과 공격적 성격특성의 효과를 검증하고, 이 두 변인들의 효과가 발달수준에 따라 차이가 있는지를 확인하기 위하여 상관연구와 실험연구를 실시하였다. 상관연구에서는 남자 344명(중학생 189명과 대학생 155명)에게 폭력적 PC게임에 대한 노출, 공격적 성격특성, 폭력사용에 대한 태도, 공격의도, 그리고 공격행동을 측정하여 이 변인들의 상호관계를 분석하였다. 그 결과 공격행동에 대하여 공격적 성격특성은 설명력이 있는 변인으로 나타났으나 GAM의 예언과는 달리, 폭력적 PC게임에 대한 노출의 설명력은 유의하지 않았으며, 이 두 변인의 효과는 발달수준에 따라 공격행동에 대하여 다르게 영향을 미친다는 것이 확인되었다. 또한, 반복적(장기적)인 폭력적 PC게임의 경험과 공격적 성격특성의 정적 관계도 발견되지 않았다. 실험연구에서는 남자 77명(중학생 29명과 대학생 48명)을 2(PC게임의 유형: 폭력적, 비폭력적) x 2(공격적 성격특성: 상, 하) x 2(발달수준: 중학생, 대학생)의 3요인설계로 된 각 실험조건에 무선 배정하여 공격의도의 차이를 분석하였다. 그 결과 폭력적 PC게임의 경험은 중학생집단에서만 공격의도에 영향을 미치고, 공격적 성격특성은 중학생과 대학생집단 모두에서 공격의도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 발견되었다. 특히 폭력적 PC게임과 공격적 성격특성이 공격의도에 미치는 영향은 연령변화에 따라 다르다는 본 연구의 기본가정이 확인되었다. 결론적으로, GAM이 예언하는 폭력적 PC게임의 효과와 공격적 성격특성의 효과가 부분적으로 지지되었으나, 이 변인들의 효과는 어린 중학생들에게서만 나타남으로써 GAM에 대한 미래의 연구는 발달적 조망에서 보완되어야 할 필요성이 제기되었다.

초등학교 남아의 인터넷 폭력게임 사용시간과 게임과몰입정도가 공격적 행동에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Violent Internet Game Usage and Game Overindulgence on Aggressive Behavior in Elementary School-Aged Boys)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the time spent on violent internet games and game overindulgence on aggressive behavior exhibited by elementary school-aged boys and to investigate the mediating effects of self-control on the relationship between children's game overindulgence and their aggressive behavior. The subjects of this study were 118 fourth to sixth grade boys from five elementary schools. The instruments used were the aggression subscale of the Korean-Youth Self Report (Oh, Ha, Lee, & Hong, 2001), a questionnaire of the time spent playing violent internet games developed by the authors, the Internet Game Addiction Scale for Children (Kim, Lee, Kim, Kim, & Kim, 2006) and the Self-Control Scale (Nam, 1999). The data were analyzed by means of a Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results were as follows. First, children's self-control mediated the relationship between game overindulgence and aggressive behavior. Second, the amount of time spent playing violent internet games had no effect on children's aggressive behavior.

어머니의 정서 표현성과 유아의 귀인오류가 유아의 공격행동에 미치는 영향 : 유아의 성에 따른 차이를 중심으로 (The Influence of Mothers' Emotion Expressiveness and Children's Attributional Biases on Children's Aggressive Behavior : Gender Differences between Boys and Girls)

  • 본 연구는 어머니의 정서 표현성과 유아의 귀인오류가 유아의 공격행동에 미치는 영향을 알아보고 이러한 관계가 유아의 성에 따라 어떻게 달라지는지 알아보자 하였다. 연구대상은 서울지역 어린이집에 재원중인 만 6세 남아 46명과 여아 40명(총 86명)의 유아와 그들의 어머니였다. 어머니의 정서 표현성은 자기 보고식 설문으로 측정되었으며, 유아의 귀인오류는 이야기를 사용한 인터뷰로 측정 되었다. 또한 유아의 공격행동은 Crick등이 개발한 유아 공격행동 체크리스트를 교사가 보고하여 측정하였다. 분석 결과, 유아의 관계적 귀인오류가 유아의 외현적 공격행동과 관계적 공격행동을 정적으로 유의하게 설명하는 변인으로 나타났으며 어머니의 정서 표현성과 유아의 공격행동은 아무런 관련성이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 유아의 성에 따라 분석한 결과, 어머니의 부적 정서 표현성이 여아의 관계적 공격행동을 부적으로 유의하게 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 유아의 성에 따른 어머니 및 유아 변인이 유아의 공격 행동의 차이를 설명한다는 것을 의미한다.

아버지의 양육행동이 아동의 관계적 공격성에 미치는 영향: 내적 귀인 및 공격행동에 대한 규범적 신념의 매개효과 (The Influences of Paternal Parenting Behavior on the Relational Aggression of Children: The Mediating Effects of Internal Attribution and Normative Beliefs About Aggressive Behavior)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore whether there are gender differences in the influences of paternal parenting behavior on the relational aggression of adolescents and to examine the mediating effects of internal attribution and normative beliefs about aggressive behaviors. Methods: This study assessed 492 fifth to sixth graders from an elementary school (237 males and 255 females). Results: The results of this study were as follows: First, the effect of paternal affectionate parenting behavior on girls' reactive aggression was partially mediated by internal attribution. Second, the effect of paternal coercive parenting behavior on boys' proactive aggression was completely mediated by normative beliefs about aggressive behavior. Third, girls' proactive aggression was partially mediated by normative beliefs about aggressive behavior. Conclusion: These results suggest the need to further examine relational aggression and to help children gain positive relationships with peers.

운전행동 결정요인과 위험운전 행동요인이 난폭운전과 보복운전에 미치는 메커니즘 분석을 통한 대책마련 연구: 교통법규위반자 및 교통사고야기자를 대상으로 (A Study on Preparing Measures for Reducing Aggressive Driving and Road Rage by Analysing Mechanism of How the Driving Behavior Determinants and Dangerous Driving Behavior Factors Affect Aggressive Driving and Road Rage: Targeting Traffic Law Violator and Assaulter of a Traffic Accident)

  • 본 연구는 최근 이슈가 되는 난폭운전과 보복운전의 발생 메커니즘을 운전행동 결정요인(대인분노와 공격성)과 위험운전 행동요인(난폭운전행동과 과속위험행동, 음주운전행동, 주의산만, 대처미숙)을 통해 분석하고, 예방 대책을 마련하는 것을 목표로 진행하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 정리하면, 첫째, 도로교통공단 7개 지부에서 교통법규 위반자와 교통사고 야기자 351명을 대상으로 실시한 설문결과를 통해 운전 중 난폭운전과 보복운전의 심각성과 맞춤형 교육의 형태, 적정 시간, 교육내용 등 요구사항을 파악할 수 있다. 둘째, 난폭운전과 보복운전에 운전행동 결정요인과 위험운전 행동요인의 세부 항목 관련성 유무와 메커니즘을 Figure 3과 Table 8을 통해 명확히 파악할 수 있다. 이를 통해, 난폭운전과 보복운전 대책의 우선순위와 가중치 등을 요인별, 항목별로 선정할 수 있다. 셋째, 난폭운전과 보복운전 메커니즘 분석모형을 통해 예방 대책을 Table 9 - Table 10과 같이 공통대책과 각 요인별 맞춤형 대책으로 구분하여 제시할 수 있었다.
