  • The present work describes simulation studies to compare the performances in terms of averaged mean squared error of bayesian wavelet shrinkage methods in estimating component curves from aggregated functional data. Five bayesian methods available in the literature were considered to be compared in the studies: The shrinkage rule under logistic prior, shrinkage rule under beta prior, large posterior mode (LPM) method, amplitude-scale invariant Bayes estimator (ABE) and Bayesian adaptive multiresolution smoother (BAMS). The so called Donoho-Johnstone test functions, logit and SpaHet functions were considered as component functions and the scenarios were defined according to different values of sample size and signal to noise ratio in the datasets. It was observed that the signal to noise ratio of the data had impact on the performances of the methods. An application of the methodology and the results to the tecator dataset is also done.

  • Pure functional languages have the referential transparency feature sothat all objects cannot be updated destuctively. Once an aggregated data structure such as array is updated, both the original and newly updated array must be preserved to maintain reverential transparency. Thus, it is required to develop an efficient mechanism with which can reduce the maintenance cost while maintaining referential transparency for whole data. This study is to suggest a functional array to solve the problem, and them test it. For that, the proposed mechanism was implemented on a combinator graph reduction machine. The result shows that proposed mechanism reduces traversal time for array operations. Also, updating all versions and accessing the recent version are achieved in constant time without reconstruction of updated data in execution time.

  • Miniature pigs are widely used in experiments related to pulmonary disease because of their similarities with humans. However, there are not enough data about normal lung function in miniature pigs. Thus, in this study, we investigated normal lung function in miniature pigs with lung ventilation/perfusion scintigraphy and evaluated the availability of this method. Three male miniature pigs weighing 30-35 kg were used. After general anesthesia, ventilation scintigraphy was performed with 100 MBq of $^{99m}Tc$-pertechnetate (${O_4}^-$), after which perfusion scintigraphy was performed with intravenous injection of $^{99m}Tc$-macro aggregated albumin (MAA). The functional contribution of the right lung was about 55%, and left lung was about 45%, similar to humans. Lung ventilation/perfusion scintigraphy was very useful in evaluating the normal lung function of miniature pigs because it was a non-invasive procedure (no tissue damage was involved), took a short time and was easy to perform. In conclusion, miniature pigs are similar to humans in functional contributions of the lung, and this method will be helpful in future pulmonary disease studies involving miniature pigs.

  • Today, functional gloves must allow the wearer to perform many kinds of delicate work while protecting the hands from hazardous materials. In this study, multiple analyses of 3D hand measurements were performed to provide information on the hand size and shape required for the design of functional gloves for adult men. Size and shape characteristics were identified from 19 different hand measurements, and three factors were collected through factor analysis. The aggregated factor score was used to classify men's hand shapes into three types. These types showed different distribution patterns according to age, indicating a significant distribution difference between hand type and age group. Discriminant analysis extracted nine items that highly contributed to determining hand type. However, since the data provided by Size Korea have some limitations in fully representing hand shape, sampling additional types of hand measurements and using consistent conditions and methods are required for more accurate analysis.

  • This study developed the subject guide by policy areas for advancement of policy information service, designed the system for constructing the policy-related resources, and tried to construct policy information resources on a trial basis. For the development and construction of policy areas subject guide, first, we divided the aggregated materials into top 9 types, and subdivided into 19 types. Second, we constructed the policy contents for subject guide service, based on BRM classification system which is functional classification of government. Third, a total of 6,305 were build in accordance with 133 BRM subject guide. As a result, it is said that the effectiveness of the policy subject guide developed by this study, were verified by constructing the experimental data.
