Seoul citizens are currently suffering from high housing price. Home prices have risen more rapidly than salaries so owning a housing unit (apartment, condominium, or single-family home) in Seoul is becoming more difficult than ever. Therefore, this research examines the behavior of average Seoul citizen in owning housing unit in Seoul, Korea, particularly in terms of the length of time required to afford a house unit. This research estimates that it will take about 18.75 years in maximum after getting a job (12.75 years after purchasing the housing unit) to own housing unit in Seoul that is currently valued at $300,000 where the growth rate of income is 2.97% and consumption price increases at a rate of 2.95% per annum. Finally in this research, the optimal growth rate of housing price is estimated ranged from 3.5 to 4.0% minimizing the loan payoff period.

In this work, Internet Supercomputing methodology is introduced and the concept is materialized for large-scale finite element analysis. The primary resources of Internet Supercomputing are numerous idling PCs connected by Internet with no regards to their locations. Therefore, it becomes one of the most affordable ways to achieve supercomputing power unlimitedly if the appropriate parallel algorithm and the operating program are developed for this slow network environment. Under the above concept, virtual supercomputing system InterSup I is constructed and tested. To establish the InterSup I system, 64 CPU nodes, which are located in several places and connected by Internet, are conscripted, and parallel finite element software is developed for linear static analysis of structures based on the parallel multi-frontal algorithm. By the established InterSup I system, analysis of finite element structural model having around five million DOFs are solved to check the affordability and effectiveness of Internet Supercomputing.

The importance and cost of avionics system in the integration of an aircraft is continuously increasing. And we can expect enlarged software portion in the system integration for the more intelligent, reliable, and automated avionics system. Both military and commercial avionics community have moved toward commercial-off-the-shelf(COTS) equipment and open systems architecture not only to increase affordability but also to reduce acquisition cost, shorten development time and risk. The same concept is applied in developing avionics test system used for the avionics system integration test. In this paper, we present important topics in the development of avionics system including real-time operating system, interconnect data bus, software development methodology, software development process, and system integration test.

Despite the massive housing production since the 1990's, housing affordability of rental households has not been substantially improved. The objective of this study was to investigate housing consumption behavior of rental households. Numerous literatures pertaining to the subject were thoroughly reviewed. SPSS PC+ for window was used to analyze the data collected to Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements(KRIHS) in 1999. The major findings are highlited as follows: The results shows a statistically significant difference in housing consumption behavior according to household income, the age of householder, number of family. And estimation of the willingness to pay revealed that low income families are influenced on the rental price and the income elasticity of demand is high.

Disruptive innovations have brought convenience and affordability in a variety of industries. The innovations that will eventually turn it around are ready. However, health care remains expensive and unsustainable to many because of the lack of innovations. Health care may be the most entrenched, change-averse industry in the united states. The aim of this article is to describes the innovations of Cleveland Clinic. The author present innovation activities in Cleveland Clinic, followed by a discussion of some of the reasons how disruptive innovations in Cleveland Clinic has been achieved.

Nowadays the numbers of the disabled and elderly have been increasing, and the universal design is desperately in demand. The purpose of this study was to offer ideas and solutions for the universal fashion design. The concept and the principles of universal design have been examined and principles of universal fashion design were suggested: low physical effort, flexibility in use, fair in use, aesthetics, safely-oriented, affordability, and accessibility. Eighteen web sites were investigated and the universal fashion products were analyzed based on these principles. Well developed universal fashion design products will help individuals to obtain the quality of life, maintain the dignity, and make the access to the world a little bit easier.

The purpose of this study is to analyze housing expectations and housing preferences of college students' first purchased house for the future. Data was collected through self-administered questionnaires for this study and the samples consisted of 797 college students. This study found that college students preferred a high-rise apartments, a 20-24 pyung (66.0㎡-79.2㎡) house in housing size and relatively new house. The housing features and interior features that college students like to have and expected to have in the first residence were different. Their housing expectations were fairly realistic considering their affordability. College students preferred to furnish video and audio equipments, exercise equipments and ceiling fans. They generally preferred hardwood floorings and decorative moldings and expected to have built-in closet in their master bedrooms. They expected to have linen closets and large mirrors in their bathrooms. They preferred ceramic tile counter tops, wood cabinets, vinyl floorings in their kitchens and they also preferred to use kitchen as a utility.

The purpose of this study is to suggest basic data to establish policy directions for improvement on quality of rural housing in Korea. A literature survey were used fur study The contents of survey includes policy supports in rural Korea and rural America. The results of the study grasped the situations that the newly built and repair, a vacant house, landscape and welfare with the support of rural housing policy in Korea. Also rural affordable housing policy examined supports of RHS programs in USDA variously. Based on the results, some policy directions to rural housing and community were suggested.

In this study, coupler on the safety of meeting the requirements and construction and economy to satisfy the number of parts to minimize an LK-DK coupler has been developed, affordability existing reinforcing bar joint, welded joint, mechanical joints, compared with a favorable one to the understanding, and also facilitate the construction and logistics, etc. I've found that there is no additional pay because the amount of product performance through the tensile test after test, if commercialization is expected to be greater ramifications.

Expressed sequence tags (ESTs) are generated by single-pass DNA sequencing of clones obtained from cDNA libraries and are powerful tool in the genetic characterization of organisms, owing in large part to the speed and affordability of generating these sequences. Comparison of sequences obtained with those available in public sequence databases allows putative identification of many genes. (omitted)
