  • In this paper, we prove that the automorphism group of a quasi-homogeneous properly convex affine domain in ${\mathbb{R}_n}$ acts transitively on the set of all the extreme points of the domain. This set is equal to the set of all the asymptotic cone points coming from the asymptotic foliation of the domain and thus it is a homogeneous submanifold of ${\mathbb{R}_n}$.

  • In this paper, we propose a PID-PD controller and its tuning method to be modified form of PID controller that consist of the affine set of PID and PI-PD controller by analyzing relation between these controllers. The proposed tuning method controls the closed-loop system to locate between the step responses of system controlled by PID and PI-PD controller. The controller is designed by the optimum tuning method to minimize the proposed specific cost functions. Its effectiveness is examined by the case studies and their analysis.

  • Light Field (LF) image can be understood as a set of images captured by a multi-view camera array at the same time. The changes among views can be modeled by a general motion model such as affine motion model. In this paper, we study the impact of affine coding tool of Versatile Video Coding (VVC) on LF image compression. Our experimental results show a small contribution by affine coding tool in overall LF image compression of roughly 0.2% - 0.4%.

  • In this paper, we propose a robust object tracking algorithm based on model and edge, using deformed template and Level-Set theory. The proposed algorithm can track objects in case of background variation, object flexibility and occlusions. First we design a new potential difference energy function(PDEF) composed of two terms including inter-region distance and edge values. This function is utilized to estimate and refine the object shape. The first step is to approximately estimate the shape and location of template object based on the assumption that the object changes its shape according to the affine transform. The second step is a refinement of the object shape to fit into the real object accurately, by using the potential energy map and the modified Level-Set speed function. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can track non-rigid objects under various environments, such as largely flexible objects, objects with large variation in the backgrounds, and occluded objects.

  • Since the introduction of hands-free phone set and teleconferencing system, acoustic echo cancellation has been a challenge for engineers. Recently many researches have shown that the best solution for the acoustic echo compensation problem is represented by an adaptive filter which iteratively tries to identify the unknown impulse response of the system from loudspeaker to microphone. In this paper, we apply the delayless subband adaptive filters and fast affine projection algorithm for the identification of room impulse response. Simulation results show 3∼8 dB more enhanced performance than conventional fullband adaptive filters or subband adaptive filters. In addition, fast affine projection algorithm shows better convergence speed at the expense of the low computational complexity than conventional LMS algorithm.

  • Joint time-frequency images of the broadband echo signals of six fish species were obtained using the smoothed pseudo-Wigner-Ville distribution in controlled environments. Affine transformation and principal component analysis were used to obtain eigenimages that provided species-specific acoustic features for each of the six fish species. The echo images of an unknown fish species, acquired in real time and in a fully automated fashion, were identified by finding the smallest Euclidean or Mahalanobis distance between each combination of weight matrices of the test image of the fish species to be identified and of the eigenimage classes of each of six fish species in the training set. The experimental results showed that the Mahalanobis classifier performed better than the Euclidean classifier in identifying both single- and mixed-species groups of all species assessed.

  • In this paper, we characterize SL(2, $\mathbb{C}$)-representations of an n-periodic link $\tilde{L}$ in terms of SL(2, $\mathbb{C}$)-representations of its quotient link L and express the SL(2, $\mathbb{C}$)-representation variety R($\tilde{L}$) of $\tilde{L}$ as the union of n affine algebraic subsets which have the same dimension. Also, we show that the dimension of R($\tilde{L}$) is bounded by the dimensions of affine algebraic subsets of the SL(2, $\mathbb{C}$)-representation variety R(L) of its quotient link L.

  • This paper presents a new compression method (or ECG data using iterated contractive transformations. The method represents any range of ECG signal by piecewise self-afrine fractal Interpolation (PSAFI). The piecewise self-afrine rractal model is used where a discrete data set is viewed as being composed of contractive arfine transformation of pieces of itself. This algorithm was evaluated using MIT/BIH arrhythmia database. PSAFI is found to yield a relatively low reconstruction error for a given compression ratio than conventional direct compression methods. The compression ratio achieved was 883.9 bits per second (bps) - an average percent rms difference (AFRD) of 5.39 percent -with the original 12b ECG samples digitized at 400 Hz.

  • In this paper we prove a condition under which a hyperbolic starshaped set has a center of hyperbolic symmetry. We also give the definition of isometric diameters for a hyperbolic convex set, which behave similar to affine diameters for Euclidean convex sets. Using this concept, we give a definition of constant hyperbolic width and we prove that the only hyperbolic sets with constant hyperbolic width and with a hyperbolic center of symmetry are hyperbolic discs.
